  1. One of the signature sights of the Weelond coast are the windmills built on a low grassy ridge, taking full advantage of the stiff breeze blowing in from the Sea of Storms. Here is one of those windmills, cleverly designated "Grist Mill #1" in the city ledgers.. Specifically, it is a post mill with an open trestle design. The grist mill grinds wheat into flour. It looks like several bags of flour are ready for delivery to the city market. The wagon driver takes time to give his horse a treat. His assistant doesn't look too pleased to be loading all the bags of flour into the wagon himself. Sheep commonly graze in the area, when they aren't grazing beneath the bastions of nearby Fort Weelond. The goat appears to prefer the wildflowers. Some more pics: --- I finally found the time to do some building! I wanted to try out the siding style Ayrlego used on one of his builds not too far back. There is a small gap at the top of the siding, and I had trouble with the hinges keeping the wall straight, but I'm happy with the result. I also wanted to represent the open trestle work realistically, and after a lot of experimentation, found something I'm very happy with. The sails turn, and the mill turns on the post as well. As for the terrain, I wanted to get more of a slope effect. It's not quite how I pictured it when I started, but I believe I used 99% of all the green plates I own! The sheep roaming free is common for the time period; fences were used to keep the animals OUT of yards, not in. That was something I wanted to portray in a build, and this was a perfect opportunity. As usual, all C&C welcome.
  2. To the Intendant General des Finances, in his role as founder of the Royal New Terra Company and representative of King Philip of Oleon and Guelph, Eslandola, as a nation of traders, is disappointed to learn of Oleon's new tariffs. We feel this is an unnecessarily antagonistic move against all citizens of the Brick Seas, which will ultimately only hurt Oleon's own trade prospects and the flourishing of cultural exchange between our nations. We petition you to reconsider your tariff, and hope that you will come to see the benefits of free trade for all. Additionally, there is the matter of the Royal New Terra Company. Many Eslandolans are shareholders in your RNTC. Shareholder rights, as described by you upon issuance of the stock, state that shareholders are conferred access to ports not extended to others. As tariffs are a form of closure of your ports, we request that you honor the conditions of the stock sale and waive these tariffs for all foreign shareholders in your Royal New Terra Company, if King Philip does not see fit to reverse course on the tariffs. I hope that our nations can quickly return to the state of free trade that has existed between us and throughout the Brick Seas for years. On behalf of the Continental Council and King Fernando-Augusto VII of Eslandola, Willem Guilder Eslandola Secretary of Trade
  3. A courier entered the council hall and delivered a letter to Governor Guilder. After the MAESTRO delegation finished speaking, Gov. Guilder rose again to address the council. "I have received word just now of Corrington's reply to the Oleanders on this port tax matter. The Corries' Undersecretary of Trade has condemned the tax, but has pledged to keep their ports tax-free in the spirit of, and I quote, 'cultural exchange, amiable relations, and free trade.' I must commend the Corries for their action." Guilder shifted his weight off his pegleg, then continued. "While I am tempted to retaliate against Oleander protectionism with taxes against them in our ports, I must side with the Corrington stance on this matter. As Eslandola's Secretary of Trade, I feel I must advise we follow the same path and pledge to keep our ports open. Furthermore, if individual ports are given discretion by this council, I assert here and now, as Director of the MCTC, that MCTC ports will remain tax free." Guilder paused to see how his statements were being received. Reaction appeared to be somewhat mixed, but receptive. It looked like he might have allies in some of the ETWC delegation. He pushed on. "However, I will send a letter to the powers that be in Oleon requesting the waving of their tax for shareholders in their RNTC. I think this act will give us a chance to see how reasonable the bluecoats will be on the matter. If they refuse, we still have the ability to respond in some fashion. But we are a nation of traders, and so, for now, I will stand against taxing ships of any nation that call in our ports, if and when the matter is called for a vote."
  4. Governor Guilder stood to speak. "I'm not sure if we want to discourage traders from visiting our ports. Most of us are merchants, after all. But in light of developments coming from the palace in Granoleon, it seems reasonable to at least tax all Oleon vessels at all of our ports." Guilder looked around the room to see the reactions. "What have the other delegations have to say on this matter? I would still like to hear from the ETWC." (Attention @Garmadon)
  5. Cool. Go for it!
  6. Bart, we talked about this in Leadership, and since the ship won't be licensed, we're ok with licensing Larsk as an artisan. I didn't get an answer on how to fill out the form, though. @Phred, any advice?
  7. I love the build and the story. I really like your partial ship interiors. However, to license a property, the build must represent something that remains in one location. A boat that remains permanently at anchor could be licensed as a property, but not a ship like this. Sorry.
  8. I have asked this question before and didn't get an answer. That said, having had a chance to see how the programming works, I am willing to say that ships starting in the same zone can sail together in the same convoy, lest @Captain Genaro tells me otherwise. But I'd like him to weigh in before we make that official.
  9. Does this tax also apply to foreign-flagged ships owned by shareholders of the RNTC, who have paid specifically for access to ports in the share agreement?
  10. A list of the ships sorted by ending port can be found in the KPA thread here:
  11. Perhaps he should have presented it as “We’re Totally not Crooks”.
  12. Haha, I‘m hopeful for that one too :D Glad to know I have a cheering section!
  13. Rule changes? No. Behind the scenes changes to how we generate results? Yes.
  14. @MKJoshA and @kaiju, King Archibald earned 55 DBs and Corporal Milton earned 25 DBs.
  15. An important reminder: Ships must start the next MCRA in the port in which they ended the prior MCRA. Also, your ship's name must exactly match what is in the ship register. If this is an issue, please use your faction's ship list and copy/paste.
  16. The sign-up deadline for both this month's Adventure MRCA and the Trade MRCA is November 15, midnight, anywhere in the world. After consulting with the best Corrington scientists, Oleon and Eslandola maritime experts, and Sea Rat occultists, all agree the forecast for November is for much calmer seas! Payouts of profits from the October Trade MRCA are coming shortly. Thanks for your patience. ---------------- Players can sign up for both the Adventure MRCA and the Trade MRCA, but individual ships can only participate in one or the other, not both simultaneously. To sign-up for the Adventure MRCA, read the rules here and then sign-up via this form. To sign-up for the Trade MRCA, read the rules here and then sign-up via this form. For a ship to take part in either MRCA, it must be licensed. You can license your ship under the new ship rules via this form. ---------------- Note that the trade zone numbering has changed a bit, so consult this new map before submitting any forms: And here are the trade values as of Nov. 1, 617: Settlement Faction Zone Trade Value Acropolis OL 24 18 Aden CAR 2 47 Alexport PRI 29 32 Arlinsport COR 6 232 Astrapi OL 23 121 Balmin NAM 2 175 Bardo ESL 8 151 Baskers Island MAR 6 25 Bastion SR 18 169 Belson COR 4 238 Breshaun OL 7 525 Calisto MAR 25 205 Camp Isaac COR 35 17 Cecropia OL 22 41 Charlatan Bay SR 24 185 Dortanis MAR 1 215 Dragonstone OL 20 18 Elizabethville COR 22 115 Eltina OL 7 173 Elysabethtown ESL 20 115 Fatu Hiva OL 35 106 Fortaleza Victoria ESL 32 5 Freeport GAR 27 150 Fuerte Unido ESL 32 151 Granoleon OL 5 233 Haven SR 21 23 Hojaroja ESL 32 33 Hussar’s Isle COR 24 9 Jameston COR 35 82 Kieg GAR 3 155 King’s Harbour COR 24 197 Kings Port TER 13 148 La Puebloto ESL 32 5 Lavalette OL 28 125 Leopoldis GAR 24 18 Londa MAR 2 275 Mehit ESL 32 5 Mesabi Landing COR 35 78 Montario ESL 17 92 Mooreton Bay COR 24 181 Moray’s Den SR 21 18 Myzectlan COR 35 54 New Haven COR 24 48 Nova Malto ESL 32 86 Nova Terreli ESL 17 448 Pontelli ESL 17 169 Poorvintia Port Raleigh CAR COR 26 20 30 70 Port Woodhouse COR 35 44 Prinport GAR 9 169 Puerto Alijo ESL 20 5 Puerto Desafio ESL 32 112 Quinnsville COR 24 113 Rassilon SR 18 126 Salida Este ESL 23 99 Stedor ESL 3 78 Stormhaven COR 22 44 Takashii SR 18 18 Terreli ESL 3 233 Tortuga SR 32 71 Trador ESL 32 213 Ulric ALT 1 200 Weelond ESL 8 326 Westface TER 13 92 Windfall Island OL 28 9 Yeldo COR 1 155
  17. I have placed bids on some ships for both myself and for ESL.
  18. OK, the Octoberfest entry deadline has come and gone, and judging will start in earnest shortly. Thanks to everyone for the tremendous entries and getting into the spirit of the festivities! Watch this space for judging results in the coming days.
  19. You really missed your calling. You'd have looked good in ESL green...
  20. Three by Mesabi and three by Mesabi's Landing, yes. The WTC only if it is an officially chartered trade company, which at the moment it is not. But you've got the idea, yes.
  21. I'm fine with this. Chalk it up to a learning experience.
  22. Very cool! The frieze and that pattern above the door are excellent! At its core, a relatively simple build, but you've taken it to another level with careful attention to detail (in addition to that already mentioned, just the use of the 1x1 round plates for the corners of the altar, etc). Well done!
  23. Very clever job with the fireworks. I really like the first shot of Old Chen lighting the rocket, and the microbuild with the fireworks in the night sky is really neat. Good job on this and your other entries. 75DBs have been deposited in your account.
  24. Very nice! The rotating pig and the light brick are good features. Good fig posing, and I like that you featured all the work by the employees.
