  1. A ship starting in zone 3 with a range rating of 1 can move through 2 zones (range rating +1 = 2). Starting in zone 3 (first zone), it could move to a destination in zone 2 or a destination in zone 4 (second zone). The example given for patrolling ships is a special case where instead of moving through multiple zones, we're letting it spend multiple segments of its movement in a single zone thus giving it an increased chance of intercepting prey in that zone. The language used doesn't match exactly that used to describe the normal trade route because we weren't sure if we were going to be able to accommodate the predator rules as I described.
  2. Last year at this time tensions were running high in the Brick Seas, but this year there is much to celebrate. There is peace across the seas, and trade and adventure are resuming in earnest. There has even been the crowning of a soccer champion. What better way to celebrate than to pay a visit to the Weelond Octoberfest! Weelond’s annual Octoberfest celebration features food and drink, games and amusements, traditional/historical costumes, food and drink (did we mention food and drink?), and more. So regardless of where you’re from, come to Weelond and have some fun! Rules: Your entry should be at least 16x16 and showcase an activity at the Weelond Octoberfest. This can be a pub scene, a brewer or vendor at work or hosting visitors, stage performances, contests of skill, festivities on the market green, or whatever you can imagine, as long as the build is licensable as a property and pertains to the Weelond Octoberfest. You do not have to license your property, but the city of Weelond encourages you to do so. If you don’t participate in the EGS, you can also donate the property for the settlement to license if you wish. In addition to posting your entry in the forum (ideally with an [OCT] tag in the title), please post a link to your build in this thread and in the Weelond settlement thread. Entries must be posted by October 29. EDIT: Deadline extended to October 31. Prizes: Each entry will receive 25DBs, and you can enter as many times as you want. Entries will be judged in two categories: best story or character, and best build. Winners in each category will receive 300DBs, second place 200DBs, and third place 100DBs. An additional 50DBs will be awarded to the build that best exemplifies the architectural style of Weelond. Prizes will be awarded in November.
  3. Didn't @Keymonus have an entry?
  4. Nope, that is Thaddeus Calvo, an adventurer – somewhat well known in certain social circles. Among other things, he almost found the fountain of youth, and had an adventure concerning the lost city of gold. In my builds he frequently shows up socializing with his lady friend, Madame Marian Villeneuve, an Oleander widow.
  5. There can be. There is a solitary kraken in the game; it was featured in one of the parts of Challenge V and is still active. Another sea serpent of some sort is rumored to be in the waters near Trador, but no one has seen it clearly yet. No other mythical creatures have been spotted so far.
  6. An excellent addition to the cocoa factory! Others have beat me to the punch on praising this, but I must emphasize how much I like those tree trunks, and how good the drying racks turned out. Great job!
  7. Welcome back! And such a stylish return it is. Excellent residential courtyard!
  8. I love the style of your Trador builds. Excellent! And a fun story, too!
  9. I love that you took 3 very different approaches to these 3 residences. Nice job using the plastered brick panes on the middle house. I also like the roof on the house on the right. I'd love to see a clearer picture of the house on the left; that roof is very interesting. Good job!
  10. Stunning! And nice to finally see a large build of a sugar plantation in the game. The sugarcane is well done, and the workers' dorm is excellent as well. But the grand residence steals the show IMO. All-in-all an impressive build!
  11. You've outdone yourself on this one KB. It's absolutely marvelous! But I want to hear more about the nightlife on Breshaun ...
  12. Funny story, and an excellent build! I like the mix of tiles and "book" pieces on the shelves, the door rail piece and partial paneling along the wall, the unlit candle on the desk, and of course the skeleton! Nice assortment of small details. Figure posing is very good, too. Great job all around! I look forward to seeing where this story goes from here.
  13. One of the great Eslandian heroes of the war with Mardier was Maurice of Greene, Prince of Brickwall, Cousin to King Fernando, and descended from a long line of Eslandolan military leaders, Maurice led the decisive charge in the Battle of La Puebloto. Maurice fell in battle, but his gallantry turned the tide and won the day. Now, his sacrifice is honored with a memorial in Puerto Desafio. As the citizens pass by the memorial every day, many stop to admire the large sculpture of Maurice on horseback, leading that charge. Elders explain to their children the sacrifice Maurice made. A veteran of the war stops to salute the fallen leader. The Prince of Brickwall, and the Eslandian ideals he exemplified, will not be forgotten. A small art & culture build for Puerto Desafio. All C&C welcome.
  14. The tags will happen. Leadership is just working out the details.
  15. If you've got the time, go for it!
  16. I sure hope so. Those look great to me! And welcome back KB!
  17. The map hasn't, but all the settlements and their zone on the map, along with their trade values, are listed in the chart that has been added to the first post in this thread.
  18. It goes straight out of the game.
  19. In the Trade MRCA, special commanders are required for convoys of more than 5 ships. If you are in charge of such a convoy, please post the name of the special commander and a picture in this thread. If you want to also link to a vignette of the commander, even better! -If the convoy has more than 5 ships, a special commander must be paid, as follows: - A commodore may command a group of 6-9 ships at a cost of 100 DBs and 100 PIPs per MRCA. - An admiral may command a group of 10-15 ships at a cost of 200 DBs and 200 PIPs per MRCA. - A national hero may command a fleet of 16-25 ships at a cost of 500 DBs and 500 PIPs per MRCA. NB: The pay for the commander goes out of the game, not into the pockets of the relevant player.
  20. The wait is over! MRCA II is here! The sign-up deadline for both the Adventure MRCA and the Trade MRCA is Oct 10, midnight, anywhere in the world (i.e. GMT -12). Players can sign up for both the Adventure MRCA and the Trade MRCA, but individual ships can only participate in one or the other, not both simultaneously. To sign-up for the Adventure MRCA, read the rules here and then sign-up via this form. To sign-up for the Trade MRCA, read the rules here and then sign-up via this form. For a ship to take part in either MRCA, it must be licensed. You can license your ship under the new ship rules via this form. ---- A couple of notes about the Trade MRCA: Convoy rules: -When participating in a convoy, only the owner of the lead ship (or whoever is managing the convoy) needs to register the convoy. Other players in the convoy only need to make sure their participating ship is licensed and not engaged in the Adventure MRCA. Please post the name of the commander in this thread, along with a picture. Additionally, if you want to add a link to a vignette that tells us more about the commander or how he gained this assignment, even better! Patrol/predator routes: When a trade ship enters its route in the web form, it is pretty straightforward. For example, a ship travelling from Arlinsport to Nova Terelli (with a range rating of at least 3) would enter "8,7,3,2" for the four zones it will travel through. A ship on a patrol or predator mission may want to end its trip at the same port it started. So, for example, a ship based in Bastion with a range rating of 4 that wants to hunt for prey near Astrapi and return home would enter "38,1,23,1,38". Note that it lists zones 1 and 38 twice because it passes through them twice. Furthermore, if that same ship wanted to hunt near Puerto Alijo, it could enter "38,1,1,1,38". The shorter distance to its target zone allows it to spend more time in the target zone rather than moving through other zones, and thus gives it a better chance of intercepting prey there.
  21. Excellent vignettes, and a great story. I like the variety of the minifigs. And as mentioned above, nice job adding some detail to an NPC nation in the game. This is easily one of my favorite entries in this mini-challenge.
  22. Nice rope bridge, and a good addition to the builds studying the cat culture. The leaves and vines do a lot for the landscaping for such a small piece count. Well done.
  23. This turned out quite good! Good choice going to all lt gray for the floor; the earlier version was too distracting, in retrospect. That throne really came out sharp. And beware the High Priestess's pet panther! Great job with this one!
  24. A nice addition to your pirate town. That highwayman cape is becoming quite popular. And for including an interior and keeping your daughter involved!
