  1. Beautiful build! I love the cutaway technique; I'll have to try that in the future. As others have noted, the stairs and the chandelier are great. I also think the general mix of colors in the build works well. Overall, quite excellent!
  2. Phred, in my haste to register my indigo factory as a free build and license it in July, I misspelled my user name (yes, really)! I resubmitted the forms with the spelling corrected, and everything appears to have automatically fed into the accounting sheet just fine. But, when you're going through stuff manually at some point in the future and see my first attempt unassigned due to the misspelling, you can disregard it / delete it rather than correct it and accidentally give me two factories! Sorry for the trouble; I can't believe how stupid I was! Thanks!
  3. Salida Este now has a large factory producing dye from the native indigo plants.
  4. When the MCTC claimed the island of Ferro Azure for Eslandola, the plentiful fields of indigo plants were a prime reason. With a royal cotton plantation (and several privately owned cotton plantations) and a royal textile factory, the production of textiles is the MCTC’s (and perhaps Eslandola’s) biggest enterprise. But the dyes used in the textile factory have to come from somewhere, and for indigo, that somewhere is Ferro Azure -- specifically the new indigo dye factory on the outskirts of Salida Este. First the indigo plants are harvested and brought to the factory. Here a worker is coming to unload a wagon just in from the fields. The workers then fill one of the processing pits with indigo leaves and water. Water for this process is drawn from the river and stored in a cistern next to the processing pits. When the processing pit is full, a wooden frame is laid on top of the leaves and weighted down with stones. Over time, the leaves ferment into a stinky blue muck. When fermenting is complete, the muck is drained into another pit. Here workers stir and agitate the muck to a regular consistency, and then load it bucket by bucket into barrels. The barrels are then rolled over to the processing house. Inside, the indigo is poured into molds and baked into small bricks. These bricks can then be easily transported in crates, and once at their destination can be boiled into a liquid form. With the opening of this new indigo dye factory, the MCTC adds another component to its textile business. * * * * * I had to rush to get this in by the end of July to license it as a large factory. I would have liked to detail an interior for the building, but I didn’t think it was interesting enough to warrant the extra work, which kind of took on a life of its own in recent weeks. And I couldn’t find my notes on the full manufacturing process, so I had to write it up from memory; I’m sure there are some details I’ve left out. But, I still found it interesting researching this build, and I hope you like it. All C&C welcome
  5. Congrats to everyone who participated! There were some really interesting takes on the challenge; it was fun seeing them all. And now I have a title under my avatar. Woo-hoo!
  6. Very nice! I've been planning a lighthouse for some time but haven't been able to get to it. I like the angled base and, further up, the use of those small slotted slopes. Good work with the varied greens of the base (something I struggle with). And the minifigs make it look very homey. King's Harbour will be much safer to navigate. Well done!
  7. I like the busy look of the harbor with the other ships at the edges and in the background. Looking forward to the rest of the story!
  8. Beautiful job! I love the roof! The curved slopes on the top of the wall look good, and excellent use of the masonry bricks in the walls. Clever gate design. And an interior, too! Magnificent details throughout. Well done!
  9. Great action scene! Well done. Where does that duck come from?
  10. I love it! And it looks like the captain has been a bad boy! Edit: Almost forgot to mention: I love the madam with the hook hand!
  11. Beautiful ship, as we would expect from you! The tiles on the side work well. Nice details on the deck, and I like how you've done the small cabin at the stern. As always with your ships, she looks quite functional, as if minifigs could actually sail her!
  12. I like the palm trees and the roof. Consider the experiments successful! Overall, very nice build. I like the nets on the side, and great use of the turtle shell! I also like how you've hung up the shark. Great little build!
  13. How did I miss this earlier? I love the hat and how you've used the upside-down beard!
  14. Nice little residence. I like the use of the 1x2 grooved bricks and the curved fence in front. Also like the vegetation that gives it the feeling of a frontier settlement.
  15. Very nice! I like the colors and arches, and there are various little architectural details. I like the little side shed and the waterfront detail. Also like the minifig posing with two different figs rolling barrels.
  16. Interesting story, and a lovely ship! I like her shape, and the ITP inspiration works well. Good all around!
  17. Delaying the next MRCA makes sense to me. But instead of the end of August, what if it was August 15 or 20? I've always thought it a bit odd that the powers that be have to go back and add the MRCA income to the previous months' account for everyone. Seems like it should just be added whenever the ships come in, so to speak, and that an end-of-month deadline worked poorly. But some sort of delay now definitely makes sense.
  18. Just out of curiosity, when should we expect judging results from the Fountain of Youth challenge? I forget how long it took for results last time, but I remember it took awhile, and I realize it is time consuming. As I said, just curious.
  19. No, we had the delayed MRCA from June on July 10th, but no word on those results so far?
  20. Love the building! Nice use of dark tan plates with the dark tan masonry bricks. And a great roof! The unicorn is fantastic, too, but I suspect monkeys at work here...
  21. I like the build, including the wave effect, and especially the lantern and the flag! Now just to figure out who the conversation is between, and how many of them are monkeys?
  22. Did we ever get the payouts after the auctions from the first purge effort?
