But does the King's Port Advertiser have anything to report? It's been more than a month since the ships left on their MRCA journeys with no word of their fates. It looks like we need to postpone the upcoming MRCA even more.

Thanks for the interior/construction pics! It's actually simpler than I imagined (which is a compliment). Well designed!

[COR - Aug FB3] The 'Red' School, Weelond
Capt Wolf replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Excellent build! And of course it would be known as the "Red" school! The citizens of Weelond will be well served. The architecture is quite attractive, and even though it has obvious Corrie (and perhaps even Oleander?) influences, it fits well in this Eslandolan settlement, especially with it's economical use of a small footprint. The corner tower at the top should serve as a nice visible landmark on the Weelond skyline. Lot's of nice details here. I like the clip plates used as decoration, and the relief around the windows. Nice detail along the rooftop, too. And the modularity of the whole thing really makes it complete. My favorite interior touches are the rail for the chalk beneath the blackboard and the magnifying glass in front of the window in Elliot's living quarters. Governor Guilder is quite pleased with the opening of the new school. Major Allcock is clearly a man of his word, delivering such a fine educational facility, and Thomas Elliot represents him well. Governor Guilder already has a man scouting for property in Mooreton Bay, and designs for the planned MCTC facility there are well under way. This partnership shows that the trade companies can be an excellent way for Eslandola to build bridges with our neighbors in the Brick Seas. -
I love the microbuild pictures, and how you've portrayed the explosions. Great use of that bush piece! And overall another fine installment of your story!

I love the bees! The minifig expressions and spilled honey are good details. Well done!

Nice piece usage for the vines and supports. Instantly recognizable. Nice vineyard!

Stunning ship. It looks HUGE. Great lines. So much to like. I'd say more, but my jaw is on the floor.

Nice little ship. Good colors, and I like the brick-built sails.

I've already started taking this apart, but I could still get a pic of the waterwheel (although the trough is gone), so here it is. It's not that it's not attached to a river, it's that the physics don't work in all sorts of ways. Among them, the wheel was too small for the height of the trough taking the water to the cistern.

[COR - Aug FB2] Abigail Park Barracks, Mooreton Bay
Capt Wolf replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Very nice job with the barracks. It does have a very rough finish, though; it looks like it has been the subject of target practice! But a great excuse to show off the lads in uniform and their new equipment. I need to find an excuse to do the same with some Eslandolan troops I've been working on. Back to the build: the arrow slits are well done, I like that you have a kneeling rank of riflemen (musketmen? fusiliers? what is the proper term?), and the target dummies are an excellent touch! I'll agree with the others that there's something not quite right about the ground, but that is a difficult area for me in my builds as well, and I think it is only a minor issue for this build. It is much better than plain, undetailed tan plate. All-in-all an excellent MOC! P.S. If one were to license a barracks, what would it be?- 6 replies

[OL-FB1] The Tides have Changed
Capt Wolf replied to Dannylonglegs's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like the story you're weaving for your character. Great writing! And the build is just as good! I really like the variety of pieces you have used to create the detail. An excellent free build, and I would encourage you to license it.- 10 replies

[SR - FB - Fort Building Contest] Queen's Rock Outpost
Capt Wolf replied to kaiju's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like this fort a lot! It looks very "playable" as well. And I must second Captain Braunsfeld's thoughts: the Capt Hook hair looks great on a female pirate. Well done! -
[COR - Aug FB1] Botany House, Mooreton Bay
Capt Wolf replied to Ayrlego's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Another fine build from you, Ayrlego! The dark tan masonry bricks work well, and I like the architectural details you've used: the door rail plates for the window sills; the shuttered windows, reversed panels, and technic bricks in the roof facade; and the detail around/above the door. The decorative brick wall around the grounds feels right for the garden. In the garden itself, I like the trellis and the round tile stepping stones. And again, you've given us some interior detail! My only question is if you intended to do a second floor and decided not to, or did you just do the ledge to suggest it? Either way, it works. You've developed a definite style for Mooreton Bay, and the settlement looks better every day. Great job! I'm definitely looking forward to what you have in store for Weelond!- 10 replies

[FB - COR] Those smelly pig farmers... oh, bacon!
Capt Wolf replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Lots to like here! I like the SNOT technique for the walls, I like the roof, how you've built the rail fence for the pigpen, and the non-square base. My only critique of the base would be to have the outermost edge also be the bottom, but it looks good as is. I just recently started working with non-square bases, and it really does improve some builds. The text is good as well (but Mr. and Mrs. Pigge? Really? ). Well done! -
Thanks. But shhhh! regarding where the water comes from. There's supposed to be access to a river along the back left corner, but it didn't get incorporated into the build very well. That's why the waterwheel is so hidden. I think I was inspired by M.C. Escher.

I don't have a problem with the current residence sizes, especially since they're not minimums, but guidelines. And residences shouldn't be a great source of income. But I agree that the minimum size for a viceroy's palace doesn't need to be 100x100. 64x64 should be adequate. I think a palace should be an open, grand thing, but it doesn't need to be as big as a royal factory.

Thanks. I never would have guessed the process, either. Researching it was fun. Thanks. And I was quite surprised by the front page. That's a first for me. Woo-hoo! Thank you! There are some things I didn't quite get right with the basins, but I'm still happy with how they turned out. And I think I'm improving with my landscaping, but still have plenty of room to grow in that area. But I'm very glad people like these "process" builds. Thanks!

Nice house! The colors work well, and there's a lot of texture. Good design, well executed! That Sea Rat apparently takes the term rat a bit too seriously, though!

[ESL - FB] Upholding order on Nellisa
Capt Wolf replied to Elostirion's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Good looking guard unit, and great job recreating parts of the fortress build! Well done! Eslandola's colonial capital is clearly in good hands with such an esteemed member of the MCTC in control in Nova Terreli.- 7 replies

Thanks to everyone for the comments. FYI, I found my notes, and among the details I forgot is that lime is added to the first pit; that's a key element in getting the fermentation going. Thanks! The roof overhang was something I always wanted in this build. And when I found that dark blue round brick, I knew it was perfect for this build. Although, after finding my notes on the process, I think the muck doesn't turn blue until after it's moved to the second pit and agitated. It's the oxidation that turns it blue. So if I ever do this again, I need to see if that round brick comes in dark green. Also, although my dark tan ground is still monochrome, it was one of your builds that inspired some of the texture techniques in it, so thanks! Thanks. The research into the process is half the fun of the build. Thanks. I don't really set out to explain the process, but it just seems to make sense when I sit down to write about it. And this build was a great excuse to buy some dark blue pieces! As for joining the ETWC, I'm sure we can find a way to join forces in the near future. Thanks! Thanks! Blue skies, blue seas, those sound good. But I don't want the blues.

Beautiful ship! Nice lines, and the colors are subdued, but not too much. I like how, even though it is built on prefab hull pieces, much of the lower stern is brick built. This reinforces to me that I have to start moving away from prefab masts and rigging on my ships. The brickbuilt masts and simple rigging add so much to the build. Thanks for the inspiration!

I really like the microship, and how you build the setting sun and dusk sky. Fun story! Is there a link to the larger version of the ship?

[COR - FB] Preservation of Food, Sm Artisan
Capt Wolf replied to SilentWolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Excellent build! The exterior is deceptively simple, but the interior details really bring it to life. I like that we see the basement of the interior, and I love how the roof opens up. Beautiful furniture; I especially like that stove. The variety of jars is also well done. Bravo! -
[COR-MRCA] Magnificient Trade at Nova Terreli
Capt Wolf replied to Brickwolf's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A relatively simple build, but it packs a lot into a small space and has a nice mix of elements, from water to dock to building. And the minifig posing gives it some life (the pickpocket is an excellent touch). It looks like Seawolf Shipping is off to a good start!
