[Cor-CH4A] Undercover for the Final Piece
Capt Wolf replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
I like the nighttime scene (well, I like all of it, but that's my favorite part). The two of you have done a fine job on these collaborative challenge entries! I've enjoyed the continuing story. Well done!- 11 replies

Great ocean, with the fish and gull. And glad to see Brickinson will make it to land. When the BoBS Olympics come around, Eslandola needs to enter him in the swimming events.

Nice build! I like the roof, especially the top and the peak ends. And good use of Oleon colors. Nice overall presentation, and I like the story. Looking forward to seeing your adventures to come!

Thanks. I'm glad this has encouraged you to try something similar. I look forward to seeing it! Thanks for noticing the varied browns! I wanted to show the effect of the tides in some way. Thanks!

Every time I think this series can't get better, it does! This has been the highlight of the BoBS summer! Excellent build. Love the stained glass, and all the detail around the build. My favorite pic is of the monkey on van Dyke's head. And nice use of the ninjago torso on the female crew. The moral I get from the story (and all your builds of late) is "never trust anyone in a big bushy mustache or beard!" I'm glad to learn there is more to the story. Can't wait for the next installment!

Those pirates really need to learn how to name their ships. LOL! Three cheers for the defense of the fleet! I really enjoy your microship builds, and this is no exception. And looking at the island in the brick-built background, I see how some pieces fit together that I didn't realize fit together. I really enjoy your backgrounds as a part of your style.

LOL! Well done! I'm working on an entry with a similar concept, but I suspect you've already outdone me. Your humor continues to carry BoBS through the summer! As for the build itself, I love it! Great waterside scene. I like the colors and interesting details on the buildings, the stone retaining wall and chains, and the minifig posing. Excellent all around!

Phred, can you give us any news on the status of the missing ships from the last (still unfinished) MRCA?

[COR - FB1 sep] HMS Pendragon, 6th rate of the Line
Capt Wolf replied to Tomsche's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Impressive! I really like the use of the small dragon sail on the bow, and it fits the name perfectly. Nice activity on board. The size of the pics don't bother me, but it looks like you just need a little more room to photograph such a large subject! -
Good story, and great job fitting all 3 scenes into one build! My favorite is the tavern, although they're all very good. Impressive entry!

Great story! I really like your depiction of the whale carcass, and your minifig posing, especially in the later action sequence, is excellent. Well done! That Sinbad fellow is one bad m----- / Shut yo mouth! / I'm just talkin' about Sinbad.

Not what I was expecting when I clicked on this thread. I like it -- both the ship itself and the presentation, that is, the deck packed with goods and cannons and minifigs. That roof technique on the hut is fascinating, and nice use of the viking bow/stern piece. Cool build!

Thanks for all the comments everyone. I was afraid this build might have been too recycled, but I'm glad putting the scene together is appreciated. Thanks! I've tried to build with an eye toward having everything fit together. Specifically, I always imagined the building with the yellow panels going next to the white MCTC warehouse. As for the red school, all is not lost. I do have a master plan in my head for a larger display, and I'll build a reasonable facsimile of the school exterior when the time comes. Thanks! The cobblestone took some time, and used nearly every last light gray 1x1 round plate I have! Thanks. I took a shot at the water technique, and it turned out ok. I think it works particularly well in low-level shots, but not as well for a higher angle. Thanks. Getting the balance was tricky. The photo choices help with that, I think. And I really should go to a convention sometime. I've been to Brickworld in Chicago a couple of times, but just as a spectator. Thanks! I had to justify keeping them built and on the shelf somehow. Thank you! Steal away. I'd do the same to you! Thanks! The angle of the wharf was an important element of the build for me. I didn't want everything at right angles. Thanks. The roof on that house was an experiment. I was fairly happy with how it turned out, too. Thanks! I hope to do a larger version with some more off to the left, and some more depth, in the future. (I want to add part of a fort, and the market, church, and governor's mansion need to be added, but I need some other buildings to fill in some other spaces first.) And I went into a little panic when I couldn't find my BoBS minifigs for a bit. I like to maintain some continuity with the citizenry. Thanks again for all the comments. Much appreciated!

A nice interior build, and fun dialog! (And I feel like I've encountered the good doctor before. Hmmm.) I'm definitely looking forward to seeing "Horrible Old Ironsides"!

Just to make more work for you, I posted a FB and licensed it with 4 hours left in August. FYI.

We sailed into Weelond Bay and anchored in the harbor. Even though Weelond was founded as a company town of the MCTC, the settlement was open to all, and the docks were no exception. This was a public wharf. As we rowed to shore to speak with the dockmaster, the Weelond waterfront came into focus. The dockmaster was currently busy with Captain Janszen and his first mate. Perhaps a problem with his manifest? Behind them the street was bustling with activity. Both warehouses were busy moving crates and barrels to their designated spots, some coming in, some going out. And was that Captain Silver coming down the stairs? Who had he been visiting? Over to our left, a father and his son were fishing. They better make sure that cat doesn’t get their catch. As soon as the dockmaster is done with Janszen, we’ll discuss our business with him. * * * * * This MOC is made up of several builds you’ve seen here before (the small warehouse with room above, the MCTC warehouse, the brewery). The dock has even appeared before (introducing a ship, and practicing for a duel), but never as the focus of the build. Probably only 10% of this is new. But I wanted to see how it would all fit together in a larger display, and I wanted to put the focus on the dock, which I will now license as a medium commerce property. Here are a couple more views: As always, all C&C welcome.

[SR-FB 2 August] Secrets in the Hold
Capt Wolf replied to MKJoshA's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Nice ship interior! And some good minifigs, too. Excellent! -
I really thought it was going to be a monkey under his hat. The pic of the marine commando force climbing the cell wall is my favorite. Another laugh-out-loud installment of the story! Love it! Keep 'em coming!

I'm pretty sure I submitted before the extension as well. I concur that that seems to be at least an issue, if not the issue.

My ship, the Far Horizon, is missing, too, as is the MCTC ship Prince Fernando. Are any of the ships from the Eslandola Double Duty or Dragon's Teeth flotillas showing up?

[COR-FB] The King's Harbour Slipway
Capt Wolf replied to Bregir's topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Excellent build. I was planning something along the same scale, and now I have to go back and rethink it because you've created something much better than I was coming up with! I don't think the landscape is too plain at all. The only things I would want to see that are missing are more minifigs at work and perhaps more scaffolding. But I love the brick-built hull, and you've done a great job of illustrating a slipway of this scale. And the name is perfect. Well done!- 5 replies
