  1. Lovely build! Perfectly illustrates prospecting on Otoño. I really like that old, gnarly tree. And the orange and medium dark flesh colors for the earth also capture the idea of this island. I'm looking forward to finding out what your prospecting efforts find.
  2. More good storytelling! And I really like the Wyvern. You're right about the dragon arch -- that piece was perfect for the high stern. The flag also fits nicely with the theme. You should license the Wyvern as a 2A; it's worth keeping!
  3. Nice job building up a proper ship from that large rowboat hull. It reminds me of the Imperial Trading Post ship, but a touch bigger. Color scheme/name/figurehead all work together nicely. And nice storytelling, as usual. Good job!
  4. Thanks! I certainly got carried away on this one. Pretty much ran out of log wall pieces after two walls! In general I think one can get away with using some colors for dual purposes, but the (light) tan plates did not work out as I had hoped. As for the blockhouse, you can pretty much see all there is to it. I kept it simple due to lack of pieces and just needing it to anchor that end of the fort. Thanks. The temporary first structure of a settlement was the look I was going for. I was inspired a bit by drawings of the Jamestown settlement, which had a triangular design as well. As for the size, it was initially going to be smaller, but the barracks in the interior required adjusting the length of the sides, and I just got carried away. Thanks. This was my first time using that round wall technique, and I was really happy with how it worked. Yes, solid earth bastions! If I had had more time, I might have made them a bit bigger; as it is, the cannons barely fit on them. Thanks! I'm pretty happy with how this turned out, even if it did get a little bigger than intended. I did a better job detailing this one than I did with the sawmill, and I think it paid off. Thanks to everyone for the comments!
  5. Another bump. What do I have to do to get this pinned?
  6. Nice build. I like the curved wall and the rustic detailing inside and out. I take it the Van Gogh portrait is a barber joke (don't cut off the ear!).
  7. Interesting take on this challenge, and you've done a great job with it, both in bricks and the writing. The wrecked ship is lovely, in a dark way. You've done a great job with the broken deck, and the rock/beach details are excellent. In spite of the fact that the wrong side won in this encounter , I really like this entry.
  8. Good looking ship, with lots of interesting details. I like that you've given the ship a backstory. And you've got some great piece usage in the build (like the elves fencing for cabin windows). My only complaint is that I would have liked to see her with spars and sails. But nonetheless she's a fine ship and I'm glad she is on our side, contributing to Operation KMA.
  9. I love the nighttime and lighting effects. And I like that you're continuing to show Eslandolan cavalry, something I need to work into my army builds. Good FP, too. Overall a very well executed story build!
  10. Great job with the tall trees! I've got to figure out just how you've put the leaf pieces together. And if I see what you did, that's a very clever solution to creating the bunches of bananas. Overall the build is nicely detailed, and I like that the building is at an angle. Well done!
  11. Love the warehouse interior and the cutaway tunnel. Good figure posing, too. Fun entry; good job!
  12. Great job with the mini-ships. I'm going to have to study that scale a bit more. The flaming, sinking ship is well done. Glad to see we had a proper escort on this run!
  13. I love that first picture. Very dramatic!
  14. Good job Phadeout! That's a sturdy little battery there. And I hear aiming is highly overrated. But seriously, nice stonework on the fort, and good job working in some red leaves, as Otono is known for its red trees.
  15. As the first phase of Operation KMA reaches completion, please check out the namesake fort of Fuerte Unido.
  16. The first phase of Operation KMA was coming to an end, and it had been a complete success. Eslandolan forces had established a strong presence on Isla de Victoria, preventing Mardier from occupying the island first. The settlement of Fuerte Unido had settlers from all three trade companies and was already a sizable town. And now Capitan Alonzo could relax, if just for a moment, and recognize the job of his troops in finishing so quickly the construction of the actual fort that gives Fuerte Unido its name. They had started with the barracks, but were able to quickly build a fully enclosed compound, with a sizable blockhouse at one end and two small round bastions at the corners flanking the entrance to the fort. Yes, the fort was triangular, the three sides representing Eslandola's three trade companies. The men were already falling into the routine of life in the fort. Wall sentries watched intently for any Mardier incursion. Alonzo and Felipe, his second in command, reviewed one of the platoons. With the fort functional and the town protected, Operation KMA could now move on to its next phase. * * * Additional pics: As always, all C & C welcome!
  17. Thanks to everyone for the comments. I take it the idea of having the barracks in the process of being whitewashed is a hit. FYI, the full fort should be done within a day or two.
  18. Great plan for getting the treasure through safely. And that flag technique is fascinating!
  19. Tired of all the war and piracy? Or just need an excuse to party? Check out the Octoberfest mini-challenge!
  20. To outsiders it might look like a tense time in Eslandola, what with the attack on the treasure fleet and the war with Mardier, but we also like to party. And that’s why Weelond’s annual Octoberfest celebration goes on as scheduled, featuring drink, food, games and amusements, traditional Eslandolan costumes (?!), drinking (did we mention drinking?), and more. So regardless of where you’re from, come to Weelond and have some fun! Rules: Your entry must showcase an activity at the Weelond Octoberfest. Your entry must be located in Weelond (post in the Weelond settlement thread). You must provide a link to your entry below. You must submit your entry by the 23rd of October, 12:00 PM, your time zone. Your entry must measure no more than 12 studs in width and length. There is no height restriction. Your entry may only have a minimal (2 stud) overhang. Only one prize maximum will be awarded per entrant. Prizes will be paid in November, not October. You may only submit a maximum of two entries. You must be a BoBS member to participate, but you can belong to any faction. Prizes: A panel of judges, including the leader of MCTC and the mayor of Weelond, will judge all entries and choose a select number of favorites to be exhibited on the front of this year’s Octoberfest poster. Two winning entries with be awarded 30 DBs each (one for Eslandola entries, and one for non-Eslandola entries). Every entry chosen for the Octoberfest poster will be awarded 10 DBs.
  21. Brilliant! What more is there to say? (OK, I love that tree. Well done! And nice use of the samurai bandit torsos for the Eslandolan lumberjacks, getting both red and green in there.) Bravo!
  22. Thanks. And please copy away! That's what I do when I see something I like! Thanks! And I'm not sure why I feel compelled to explain the processes represented by many of my builds, other than it gives the build a bit of purpose or structure, or adds a sense of action to something that is otherwise still.
  23. A great homage to the classic Islander sets! Love the monkey statue, and your use of the new banana suits is perfect!
