Think I remember that, was it build with the biscuits or the mockup with connectors? Or both? Don't think the size really matters in this case though, plenty of space in that 15x11 frame and 4 beams in height. Unless you got plans to add another function in that space? Also I mentioned the Pimp Up Chiron gearbox especially because I remember the later version(s) already having a center diff.
-
Personally don't care for much from your list actually. PF motorisation for functions would be nice, for drive I couldn't care less to see a car go 2 km/h. Since Didumos pointed out it's a re-used Chiron gearbox, it's probably due for a more efficient version (copy-paste from the Pimped Up Chiron?) Which would also provide the center diff and a 8>1 gearblock. That's about the only stuff I'd like to see from what we know so far.
-
Oh for sure that it decreased the quality of play, but Lego will still build in these safety features for those who don't build these often. And while the Chiron's gearbox is inefficient, it does at least work out of the box. And even the white clutch gear in the Porsche's gearbox prevented not so inclined builders from having real problems with that model. It's sloppy and we hate it, but we aren't the only audience Lego is targetting.

[TC18] Miniature Muscle car
Appie replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
I don't think you need to extend the roof though, just have the 7L panels touch the rear edge of your normal one, but again, I can't tell if the mechanism for the folding will fit then, width wise I mean mostly. Looking at your sketch though, this would look weird with the roof down with the 7L panels that far behind the seats (even though your sketch has the panels 1 stud further back than your 11L panels) with nothing there inbetween, which can't be helped since the gearbox is below that. I think I'd personally still pick the 7L panels over the 11L, because if the folding mechanism would fit between the 7L panels it at least doesn't look off with the roof up and only a little weird with the roof down, instead of weird (imo) in both cases with the 11L panels.- 24 replies

[TC18] Miniature Muscle car
Appie replied to Zerobricks's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Great model with alot of functions, but the superlong rear behind the roof feels very off to me. Have you considered using the 7L angled panel instead of the 11L you have now? If you'd place the 7L panel and have it end at the same spot above the rear wheelarch I think this would improve the look from the side by making the side window look bigger and the rear look shorter. I can't see clearly if my suggestion of a 4 studs shorter panel would clash with the roof mechanism in the middle though.- 24 replies

Thanks everybody! You should know, you did it before with the Porsche I noticed a weird thing (though realistic I guess) today while using the Top Gear app. Since we can select gears for the XL drive motor, is that in 1st and 2nd the steering angle is greater than when in 3rd gear. The steering angle on this MOC isn't the greatest due to me using 4L long steering hubs instead of the normal 3L (did this so I could align the body panels to each other), but the steering actively making the turning angle smaller in 3rd isn't helping either. At first I thought it was due to slack in the steering in combination with the driving speed, but with the car upside down I can visible see the steering motor turning the axle about 1T on the gearrack when switching from 2nd to 3rd with the steering motor fully turned left or right on the steeringwheel in the app while switching gear. It makes the car have a huge turning circle in 3rd gear, more than a typical american car would from those days I never noticed this when I had my Top Gear set build, but it most likely does it there too.

Thanks guys. Yeah, the chassis is super simple. Those 7x11 frames are very nice to work with. As for the speed, it can be pretty quick, but the gear ratio I used is more a "relaxed cruiser" speed. Mahjqa's Porsche got a very good speed out of Control+ with a better gear ratio.

Inspired by Mahjqa's cute little Porsches, I wanted to build something in a similar scale with Control+. This is the result. The car can be controlled with the Top Gear app or with third party stuff like the Brickcontroller 2 app. Being RC is its only function. 20200311_172321 by Appie NL, on Flickr 20200311_172050 by Appie NL, on Flickr 20200311_172113 by Appie NL, on Flickr And all of them together on the 42098 set 2020-03-11_05-34-06 by Appie NL, on Flickr

Control+ General Discussion
Appie replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
Afaik, Lego has no plans to do any of this in the Control+ app, instead they want the PoweredUp app to be the all-in-one go-to place for custom stuff, from boost, trains to the stuff in Technic sets.. -
Nope, learned a lot from this failure though, which was a good lesson for how I approached later MOCs. I might revisit this MOC in the future if I feel confident enough I can get it to work.

@SpaceJoey86 Here's a quick picture of it in LDD (the red 3L axle with stop needs to be inserted further so it goes into the u-joint, but LDD hassles ): RollsWindow by Appie NL, on Flickr The reason I am not making a quick picture of it on the model is because, the way the outer part of the door is mounted to the rest of it. It is all stud based and to make it strong, there's quite a few of them, which makes it not that easy to remount after taking the picture. The base of the door (the 13L beam), has like 4 or 5 stud mount points and the doorstills on each side hold 4-6 each. These aren't pictured in the image above, since you mostly wanted to know the mechanism. -

Personally, I want to toss it in a fire for the "function" of the front outriggers alone. This to me, is Porsche 42056 levels of bad engineering. -
DNR Shifter Issue

This is actually already the third topic on the same issue. . -
Then why does Google even include the 4th line and especially the toy part in that 4th line? And even if it isn't in the law, it is apparently in Google's rules, so I'd still rather play it safe. It not being in the law, doesn't mean Google won't slap you with a ban or closed channel anyway. It wouldn't be the first company that thinks their ToS is above the law (which it never is).
-
Good point, but the examples with Technic and targetted toy age and his viewers age MaxBrix mentioned, won't hold up in court most likely. About your last sentence: I would hope for the kids the bots would filter out sex before toy The situation isn't black and white for sure, but the fact Google is trying to make it that and it costing us 42k if we mess up, it's better to be on the safe side than sorry. Of course there's the thing of how they want to enforce this law internationally, but if I was a USA citizen? I'd set my channel to for kids and just chill and wait. Actually the 4th line is exactly the reason everybody is now setting their channel to "for kids", because Lego is

The blue brothers

You can "break-in" brand new PF switches to a similar level of wear. Just use the switch like 50-100 times in a minute. -
Since others already gave good advice, I did want to add this: The 42056 set "step 5" flaw this forum (rightfully) went crazy about. Remove the black pinjoiner on the axle of the black bevel gear, this construction does not fit and makes things worse instead of better. It creates alot of friction.
