  1. buy 2, keep one as-is, re-brick the other :) i think that's the way i'm going, every set like that i get i love them as-is, but the MOC'er in me just circles them like a vulture, ready to pick them clean :)
  2. Love this! I love how it gives you the opportunity to use minifigs from other non-city sets, I may have to do my own take on a costume shop for our next modular :) oh and I love the sewing machine, simple, but totally recognizable.
  3. Dang, that grill is brilliant. Great work as always!
  4. as a former chicago resident, i totally approve. this is a fantastic model, well done! also, this should be on IDEAS, would make a killer architecture model. i would totally support this.
  5. agreed, the fender chairs are great!
  6. Bull bar? don't they call them roo bars is Oz? I was going to say you don't need it, but then saw you were from Australia, then I got it. I don't think I've seen a picture of a truck in Australia without one
  7. Thanks, I made it with a vinyl cutting machine I have. It's not exactly the purist route, but it works for what i need.
  8. The BURP still doesn't annoy me as much as the castle wall pieced do. I had the old yellow castle as a kid and that set MADE my brick collection. After that set i made so many yellow things it was ridiculous. Once the new castle stuff came around I was very disappointed (even as a 10yo) that the outer walls were now a pile of very limited use walls. But as annoying as piece like these are, just remember all the awesome bricks that didn't exist 20 years ago. I don't even want to remember my life before the cheese wedge.
  9. Thanks darwinquincy I agree the pants definitely make it. I can't believe I didn't realize that before. I guess the only time I see rangers they're in their trucks, in a booth, or behind a counter so I didn't notice the pants, luckily Htrag set me straight.
  10. Great idea, it's a cool way to put Star Wars into the modular town. Why didn't you go all the way back to the rear edge of the plate? seems like more interior space would have been nice. Still, it's very cool.
  11. i get it, they're selling, that's great. i just don't get why you don't put roofs on your slideouts.
  12. yes! thank you! i'm not sure why i couldn't find that. must be past my bedtime
  13. working on something in LDD, and i'm trying to find #76257 (152mm) or #61356 (144mm) "Outer Cables" in black but not having much luck finding them at all on brick links (in any color, even in catalog search). i found the "flex cables" on BL but they look different from the parts in LDD, like they have different ends and don't look hose like. basically looking for black hoses that will fit snug into the tops of #2486, but having a hard time finding them on BL and i'm hoping you fine technics folks could point me in the right direction :) thanks drew
  14. yeah i guess you're right. in my mind i was thinking more were of the slanted roof variety. no worries, just throwing it out there. i'm curious why don't your slide outs have roofs? cheers drew
  15. very nice! i like it. my only crit is i think you should make the front of the trailer taller since most 5th wheelers have that shape of a taller front area over the bedroom/hitch area, even if it's only a 1 brick increase i think it would be more realistic. also check out my RV project, i used the 1 brick tall wall pieces on the inside top of the slide out to stop it from falling out, that way you can position them almost all the way out of the sides instead of having to keep 1 stud inside to use your 1x1 slopes as stops --> http://imgur.com/gallery/CmIgy/ just an idea, you're method definitely does the trick. brick on, drew
  16. yes! i second that i hate the knobby like tires for those rims, but those look great. i need me some of those. i did an RV build and wanted to get duallies like that as well, but did not like the tire choices. kudos on the truck, it looks and works great. has better style than the polish guy's build (although his was still cool), but your wider box is definitely better and more realistic. on my RV i did the same thing 6 wide cab, 8 wide house/cargo, it makes it kind of huge compared to regular city stuff, but isn't that far off for actual minifig scale. unfortunately i have too many interior fun stuff on my RV to fit a motor set up :)
  17. holy sh**snacks, these are amazing! well done sir, well done.
  18. love the bus, you don't have an LDD for that do u?
  19. since i only had two pairs of dark green pants and one was on Mr. Burns, i had to do a little bricklinking to get these guys up to spec for their uniforms. thanks again for the tip Htrag!
  20. good tip on the pants Htrag, cheers.
  21. nice! love the sign and the stripe work.
  22. i like the rescue truck as well, although the cab is a bit too forward for my taste. i know there isn't really the room, but i totally want to move the front wheels up a stud or two. still cool truck, i like the ladder grill, i need to do that, with the 1x2 grill tiles i've almost forgotten about that old trick.
  23. thx eurotrash. i like your trailers i need to make me some travel trailers :)
  24. you sir are a madman. love your stuff.
  25. i'm working on a series of photos of trucks and other various Lego vehicles around my hometown of Moab UT. Since Moab is home to two national parks, one state park, one BLM park and endless BLM land, park rangers are a common site. in fact two of my neighbors are rangers. so naturally i needed a ranger truck. the truck is pretty basic, i just wanted to make a crew cab sized truck with a green stripe. since i have my own vinyl cutter and had some scrap gold vinyl i made a NPS sticker for the doors. i'm pretty happy with how the decals turned out. unfortunately it's hard to cut really small so cutting out words like RANGER would be impossible at that size. of course i needed some rangers to go with it. the sherif torso is good enough, the hats and smiling faces help it out. really i think it would be a fun line of City sets. i'm a bit tired of the Police sets and I think a Park Ranger line could be a cool alternative. you'd get the same vehicles, boats, helicopters, trucks, etc, but instead of chasing bad guys they could be helping animals, rescuing hikers, or guiding park visitors.
