  1. hey guys, So this whole year I've been working on MOCs and photos so I could make a calendar for our Etsy store, i finally got it all together and thought I'd share the finished pics... park ranger truck thread... http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=96800 jeep thread... http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=99463 the unimog camper thread... http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=97705 RV thread... http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=95857 vw van threads... http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=97703 http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=94600 my UTV thread... http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=99322 Bronco thread.... http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=94778
  2. no problemo Firebrickerbuilder, those look pretty cool!
  3. very nice! it makes me want to take on the challenge of making some 4-wide vehicles.
  4. yeah i'd drop the last two rows and put in a bathroom, also tile flooring and maybe a serving cart would be cool.
  5. yup, those are the engines :) thanks :) i agree, those tires look pretty good one them, i may have to switch them up.
  6. awesome! you should enter it in the reddit.com/r/lego/ "Scene it Before" competition they're running right now, you would totally win.
  7. no way. 3D printers, especially those made for consumers can't get anywhere near a glass like look. you'd be way better off sweet talking the OP for his cut file and taking it to a sign shop or plastic shop. plastic this thin cuts fast, in like a hour of setup/cutting you could have a crap load of these. if you live in a big city there's probably a maker space there like Techshop where you can get access to a cutter and do it yourself.
  8. ah, i see. i've never had that problem with acrylic and most of the sheets i get have a paper based backing that's not hazardous to cut. you could always just apply a laserable backing. anyway, cool stuff!
  9. nice! i love laser cutters. did you try cutting with a protective sheet on the plastic? or were you still getting the edge burn with that on it? i'm sure if you burned them with the protective sticker on most people wouldn't mind peeling it off. cool idea, wish i still had access to a laser, i'd totally make some of these.
  10. thanks all, here's an action shot of the jeeps out on some slickrock in Moab. the white jeep is a bit different and meant to be a YJ model...
  11. Thanks Homer J, I think with cars, and many things lego, it's about nailing the key design elements of a given subject. it doesn't hurt to be obsessed with cars :) Thanks or спасибо Nick! Your English is much better than my Russian :)
  12. hey everyone, I've added some tips in my original post around the instructions that LDD makes so it's a little easier to follow. I hope it is useful!
  13. ha, yes! i forgot all about that one. thx :) thanks! that door cutout was definitely an important detail for me. i made a white one for my brother-in-law who was visiting my house in Moab (aka Jeep heaven) and i wanted to make sure this really screamed CJ5 to match his jeep. The trick with that curve was finding a way to fill the fender gap underneath it. had to do some wacky SNOT action to make it work, but i'm really happy that it worked out, it really is a key detail.
  14. thanks all, please share any jeeps you guys make from the lxf, would love to see that.
  15. as a continuation of my 4x4 series, i made a few Jeep CJ5's. i've attached the LXF file if you wish to check it out. anyway enjoy.... like my UTV builds the two seats are more for looks than function.... interior dash, w/ speedo and passenger side grab bar... some bottom side details, a faux driveshaft... the typical 4x4 gear i add to my MOC's, a spare tire and a jerry can and hilift jack of my own design... next i'm working on a YJ with different headlights, front fenders, door openings, and rollcage. I'm too lazy to make perfect instructions for this, however, here's some notes to supplement the crappy instructions from LDD (assuming your LDD gives you the same instructions)... + STEP 3, add a 2x4 black plate (from step 8) in front of the 1x6 plate on top of the main 2x12 plate before adding the 4x10 plate + STEP 6, before starting, jump to step 72 to make SNOT assembly that fills the fender gap, add that on first + STEP 10, before adding the 2x3 brick, you can add two downward facing 1x2 brackets (from step 91/92) to the top of the frontmost 1x4 plate you just added + STEP 14, save the hood until after step 88. + STEP 16, do step 17 first. + STEP 20, before adding the black 1x2 plate, add a 1x4 black plate that sticks out 2 studs past the rear of the jeep (from step 78) this will be the rack for the jerry can + STEP 21/22, you can add the four 1x2 plates with mounting studs on both sides of the 1x1 plate before adding the 1x2 tiles that overlap them. (the 1x2 plates with mounting studs show up in steps 28/30 & 59/62) + STEP 23, before adding the 1x4 plate you can mount the black and colored (white) technics 1x2 bricks with axle holes to the open 2x2 space, (these bricks are found in step 81), note the black brick can be a regular technics brick with a round hole, it's main function is to just give the small axle we'll use some room to go into, the outer brick should be an axle brick though since it will hold the spare tire in position. + STEP 24-26, do these steps AFTER doing steps 50-56 + STEP 50, before starting, do steps 53-56 + STEP 56, afterwards don't forget to go back and do steps 24-26 + STEP 65, do after step 68 (unless you are a wizard) hope that helps, brick on folks! jeep-cj-v5-white.lxf.zip
  16. thanks, "Polaris things" is exactly what i was going for ;) Awesome! Thanks for sharing, those look great. I like the change in tires, it totally works.
  17. omg, vw vans and classic space....these are a few of my favorite things!!! great build!
  18. awesome design, love the originals. i tried to get the LDD file, but google drive say we need to ask for permission to get the file. want to go that route or can you make it publicly available? great work!
  19. thanks all! i've added a link to the LDDs to my original post if anyone wants it :)
  20. been working on some more off road vehicles, here's my latest creation, a pair of UTVs! although they really only fit one fig, i used two seats since they are commonly called side-by-sides and would thus seem silly with only one seat. Plus, I didn't want them to be any wider since i wanted to keep them at a 4 stud width so they scale well next to my 6 stud wide 4x4's (and it would still work with the forklift roll cage). enjoy! EDIT: here's the LDD's if anyone wants them... http://odometer.org/misc/lego/UTVs.zip
  21. my response exactly. this is amazing!
  22. very cool. that grill is the bomb! very well done. it reminds me of how badly i want inverted cheese slopes!
  23. Unimod! love it. Thanks all for the kudos.
  24. This build started out with the little Arctic Ice Crawler (60033), although I think I changed it enough to call it an MOC instead of a MOD. I used the unimog as my inspiration but I wasn't out to make it look 100% like a unimog. Here we've got a sand ladder, a storage bay and a vent for the stove. I didn't go nuts with windows since this type of camper usually has minimal windows. In the back it's all business. two spares, a hi-lift jack, and a jerry can along with a removable step ladder. Here we have a "rolled up" awning and porch light. when it's time to camp the step ladder attaches to the side, and it's time to climb the inside. inside it's posh camper living of course (as long as you don't need a bathroom :) Thanks for checking it out, feel free to give any feedback or suggestions. cheers droo
  25. hey all, I've been working on some more minifig scale volkswagens, thought i'd share. I have posted a Westfalia camper before here... http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=94600 but these are a bit different, especially the Jagdwagen. The first one is modeled after my own van, a 1987 syncro passenger van with a Country Homes Camper pop top on it. here's a picture of my real van for reference... http://imgur.com/qcAJX6T I won't show a bunch of pictures of this one, since it's not a lot different from the red westy I posted before, but here's the exterior... and the interior.... Now the Jagdwagen is a bit different. Jagdwagen's were custom ordered models from the factory which were outfitted for hunting. Jagdwagen roughly translate to 'hunting car', and one major option that really makes them stand out is the full exterior cage. These were simply brush guards, not full on roll cages, but still, they look pretty awesome. For reference, here's a real VW Jagdwagen... Here's my Lego Jagdwagen.... I went a bit outside the rules on the front bars that attach to the fence/bull bar. They are made from a 6 long bar that i bent and cut to fit in that space. A 4 long bar sort of worked just resting on the top of the bull bar but this solution was a bit more solid. Working with green can get expensive! the lamp holder plates were like $2 each!!! but I had to have them. I wanted to use some other parts to make the side and tail gate hinges, but only one side of the notched hinges were available in green, so i had to go with some other options, and even with those I had to compromise since my second choice was also a hard to find part that was going for $4/each (i needed 6, so no thanks) One upside with the limited selection of green happened because even though there is a 1 x 4 with 4 Studs on 1 Side brick in green, they were only in like one or two weird sets. So they were very hard to find and when i looked no one had more than 1 and most were in Europe. This forced me to consider other options. Then i remembered good old Technic bricks, even though they have holes on both side the ability to use the stud inserts on both sides allowed me to have my trim on the outside and some faux door panels on the inside which adds a nice touch to the interior... anyway, enjoy and feel free to give any feedback or criticism. cheers droo
