Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
sithewok replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
What are people's opinions on Fire Brigade? I came to Lego right after it retired and wasn't at all interested in it from the pictures I had seen (for some reason, those brick-built flags look really bad to me), so I kind of pushed it to the bottom of my wanted list. I'm wondering, though, if I should try to pick one up before it really shoots up in value. Are there a lot of exclusive bricks/colors that would make it pricy to bricklink? -

Seems strange. It feels like the Slave 1 has been "announced" about three times so far. Oh well. The wait continues. -
Wasn't there a bit of sand green in the mock-ups? (I was secretly hoping the modified 1x2's from the Green Grocer would show up before I had to bite the expensive bullet on them...) I like the snow plow and most of the demolition sets. The swamp police sets do nothing for me, though, personally.

I love this series - they're just such fun builds. These look to continue that. Will probably pick all of these up.

Those are both fantastic! The ships are really accurate and the bases are sweet!

Received another order of parts for my GG. About all I have left is the modified 1x2 sand greens. I've been watching them on bricklink, but the thought of paying the going rate right now is pretty painful. I saw that several of the 2015 sets have sand green parts, and I know it's a pipe dream, but it sure would be nice if those went back into production. (as a relative newcomer, I am assuming that rare-ish parts like this don't often become common... Is that a good assumption?)

I will finally be picking up the Parisian Restaurant with the October double points as well. Can't wait to build it since I've heard so many good things. Will Lego be at New York Comic Con next week? Perhaps that is where the detective agency will be unveiled? -
I know it will never happen, but I'd love to see one in Wyoming.

Wow. That is an impressive build. Lots of nice details and color work. Really impressive. that's a whole lot of grey bricks.

I have almost purchased this set many times. One of these days...

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

Where did you hear that it will have a bar? That's new to me. -
I have been diagnosed with Manic Depressive disorder. While I never had Lego growing up, I came to it when I had my daughter. She inherited a huge lot of Duplo from a family member and she and I would sit together and make "color sculptures" using all of the bricks of one given color. I found that it calmed me greatly to build with her and I found myself doing it alone occasionally. As she got older and started gravitating towards Lego, I fell into the CMF's and modulars. And that is how I became extremely hooked. I am a writer and I find that sitting down and building or sorting Lego for half an hour before working vastly helps my focus and mood. I absolutely consider Lego to be personally therapeutic for me.

I love sorting Lego - find that it calms me on particularly stressful days. I probably spend a good 75% of my Lego time sorting...

I didn't realize that you had been posting updates. I don't know how you did it, but you've made it look even better. My goodness - those palm trees! Just amazing work. This is hands-down, my favorite take on a Lego city that I've seen.

LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12 Rumours and Discussion

I'm thinking I will have to order these online. All of the stores around my area are still heavily stocked with the Simpsons minifigures. I hope I'm wrong, but I don't expect to see anything new stocked for awhile.- 1,109 replies

Intruiging Tweet from TLG-Apparent huge news is coming

The next game has already been announced, though. I kind of doubt that it will be game related. -
It definitely seems like the Cinema is the least loved (apart from market street) which always surprises me personally as it is the modular that broke the camel's back for me and brought me into Lego.

The town square set can be purchased from Lego Shop at Home with free shipping.

If you don't mind my asking, where did you find the first four for ten dollars each? Having only recently gotten into Lego, I would love to pick a few of these up, but they seem to have dried up in my area before I bought my first Lego set.
-
Even if you own none of the parts, it would be cheaper to bricklink/pick a brick the whole thing than to buy the set, honestly. At least for Green Grocer. I recently got into Lego and didn't have a large parts base. I now have over 85% of the necessary bricks for Green Grocer and I'm out just under 200 bucks. I still have some of the priciest bits left to buy, but if you're patient, you can get to where I am even cheaper. I've been trying to get as many pieces new from Lego as possible which is raising my prices a little.

I agree. I'm not impressed by these at all. Lucky, I suppose... -
You could create quite the business selling these. And on that note, I'd love to purchase some from you. Let me know if you're interested.
-
I supported. I really like your design. I'd probably prefer a more old-school look to the interior with stand up units rather than LAN party stuff, but that's what mods are for, right? haha. I wish you luck - it's very cool.

Palace Cinema was the modular that made me collect the line and is my favorite of the modulars that I own so far, so I would definitely be ok with an Astrid design.
