Wonderful job Graham, the building looks great (especially that roof, greebling and timbering) as does the surrounding landscape. Love how the building is off angle too. Great work!

Thanks guys! Thanks kabel, I had a feeling you, a shipmaster, would notice that one! Here's the build on MOCpages.

Hey everyone! I have to brag a little bit (ok, a lot) about my mother and share this wonderful Christmas gift she sent me. I tend to be my own worst supporter as far as sharing my builds with the broader community and what have you. I've also come to have a special place in my heart for the GoH forum and dedicate all of my building time to this ongoing project. Knowing both those things, my mom truly came up with something awesome this year. She and my step-father own their own graphic design and print shop so I have to let you know she did one 100 percent of the work on this. It's tough at times since my mother lives about 1,200 miles away in the heart of Canada. But to know she still takes such an active interest in my hobby is really touching (it should go without saying, she bought me my first set). This is really handy too because most people in my real life have no idea I spend hours each night playing with LEGOs. I've told a few to look on Flickr on MOCpages, but for someone not in the community it can be difficult to find a specific person I suppose. But now I have this I can show off whenever I need. My mom is also a lurker of the forum, I found out recently, and wanted me to share with you guys how awesome of a community this is and the fantastic builds/builders that make GoH shine. If I could just get her to start building, maybe I could get her to join Nocty! Ok, so here's the gift: a portfolio/book of all the builds I've done in 2014, with the majority being GoH related. I know most of you guys have seen these already, but this just seemed too cool not to share a little. (Mods, I'm sorry if this isn't exactly topic-worthy, but it is mostly GoH stuff!). The cover and table of contents: A couple of my favorite GoH builds so far (sorry about the quality of some of the pics): This build on the left was my first official one for GoH, the one on the right was I think my very first after getting out of my dark ages last year. And a couple of non-GoH entries in the book. The ship is one of the best builds I've done, and I thought the background of The Black Gate deserved sharing (my mom added that to the picture - I wouldn't know where to begin changing backgrounds myself!). Well, thanks for looking everyone and letting me brag on my mom for a sec. And mom, if you read this, thanks again!

Wonderful! Such a creative critter!

Oh my, what an epic entry! Truly stunning work in each one of these builds. You have simply outdone yourself, and as others mentioned, it will take many views to fully appreciate everything you've done here. Each build is amazing in its own rights, but together taken together this entry is truly out of this world. There's way too many to name them all, but some of my favorite highlights are the windows projecting from the walls of Slowbelly Keep, the brickbuilt tents, the siege and tunneling scene (I dare say my favorite part of this build!) and of course all the little details which really make this a top notch series of builds. SK, you are a true inspiration for GoH and never cease to amaze me! No kidding! SK, have you chained up your little brother and forced him to do some of your building bidding? In any case, I know what I'll be doing the rest of my morning at work - gazing at these beauties!

Beautiful work SK, a truly unique and eye catching build! I agree with some of the others above - that wall technique is really cool. Gives the structure a greatly worn but quite stately appearance. Also, you truly are the master of interiors, and I think this is my favorite from you thus far. Great window designs too. The tiered landscaping in front of the door is a great touch as well. The story is rather captivating too, and I like the attempt to seek peace by highlighting the Black Spire threat. Well-written story and a serious contender for the challenge too! As always, wonderful work sir!

I really appreciate that! Congrats on your Brick Brothers spotlight mrcp6d! Thanks Carson! Thanks! Haha, thanks a lot Evan! I think the fungus helped break up the squareness of the trees too. Thanks sir! Glad you liked it, especially considering you recent superb builds! Thanks Adolfo! Thanks as always Cesar, means a lot coming from such a wonderful builder as yourself! It's nice to be the master of something, even if its the swamps!

Cesar, my man... you just never cease to amaze! Phenomenal work on this house, the off-kilter roof adds so much character. I love the patchwork on the roof and you're really taking the stone greebling to perfection. I love the way the chimney looks as if its held in place only by the chains. Where you find the time to craft these endless wonders, I'll never know! If I could nitpick for a sec (the first time I've ever been able to do so with one of your builds!), I would say the tree doesn't seem to be up to your usual standards of detail. In any case, I'll shut up now and get back to gazing at this build. Just superb!

Great build, awesome to see the Mead project continue! Excellent scene, the collapsed building makes a perfect spot for a brewery. Reminds me a lot of a pub I went to while traveling in Hungary. The place was literally a hole in the wall - a bomb had hit the building during WWII and instead of repairing the building, they turned it into a bar. Anyways, the fire pit/chimney and the wood accents are great touches here. And as always, superb photography!

Fantastic, such an epic build! Love the details, both large and small. It's cool to see so many folks' sigfigs in scene here. The menagerie of ships is great, along with the interesting descriptions. Also, I'm guessing there's about 20,000 1x1 dark/light blue rounds in there?? Overall, this is a stunning build and very well laid out. So lively too. Great work!
-
Thanks Slegengr! Though I've used it in another build, the gator head ended up being my favorite part. Glad you liked the cypress knees too! Thanks Kabel! You bring the mead, I'll take you out there myself! Glad you liked it! Thanks! Indeed! Thanks Jorrith! Thanks Captain Braunsfeld, for both the comment and the notice! Don't know what happened there, but it's fixed now.

I guess us Nocturnians think a like! Wonderful swamp scene Capt. Flint, the color scheme is awesome, especially the dark red accents. Ingenious little mushrooms, too. Great work sir!

Thanks! I appreciate that Gunman! Thanks BC! Thanks a lot Captain Braunsfield! I didn't think much of the towers until I got them in the rockwork and then they just seemed to fit. I'm glad you like them! The path was a bit of a challenge at first, I will admit!

Excellent, such a great idea! I'm guessing that's a device to "smoke out" the bees the keeper is holding? I love the vegetation and the photography is superb.

Not every alchemist has a supermarket around the corner stocked with mystical ingredients. Some actually have to work for those supplies, like this old wizard. His apothecary research requires mushrooms, and there is perhaps no better place to find them than in the Nocturnian swamps. The only problem is not finding yourself on the menu when traveling through the swamp - the critters here are mysterious and dangerous. Old-timers say only fools would venture the swamps alone. Perhaps this wizard has just sampled too much of his own product... ---------------------------- So... still no chapter build from me. Unfortunately "real life" has had me occupied lately but had some time to spend with the bricks the other night and threw this little freebuild together. Nice thing about Arkansas is that I basically just had to look out the window for inspiration - it's real swampy around here! Anyways, thanks for looking. Feedback always appreciated!

Another jaw-dropping build Cesar, you are truly a master with the brick. Like Disco said, your influences are evident but you are quickly developing your own style and, I believe, at least equal to your mentors. Your work on the windwill is epic, I love the stone wall and wooden braces. Overall, this is one of your best yet and definitely my favorite! Great work!
-
Beautiful scene Gideon, I'm really enjoying the scenery style you're developing for your corner of Kaliphlin. The color scheme is the real gem here, though that weather-worn outpost is wonderfully done too. You really have an eye for both the small and large in your works!
-
Brilliant build! This is really expert work, the sloping is fantastic and I really like how lively this scene is. Like mccoyed said, a lot packed in here without looking over the top. The cape on the last bobsledder is a great touch!

Well, it was going to be taken apart soon anyways, but I had not anticipated this method! I think I got most of the parts, I know there's a hundred or two 1x1 dark bley round plates still rolling around in there though... My vehicle is still being put back together! Sorry to hear about the moving troubles. Since I've got into this hobby, I dread even the thought of having to move! I'm thankful for that every time I cross the stateline! Though, living in a state where 50 percent or more of the counties are dry has its downsides. Yes, it comes out of the taps here! -
Some ingenious details as always... the floor is great as is the various shop pieces (the fresh cut boards are an awesome touch). I think the wooden beams built into the rock wall look great too. Excellent!

Mead, eh? I suppose we won't be hearing from you the rest of the night... But yeah, I feel like I'm in a bit of a building funk myself... excited about building for the challenges, but I'm actually struggling to come with some ideas! The holidays are always such a distracting time, hard to focus on anything when your wife continually asks you to put up decorations and visit with... ugh... family. But, I plan to jump into those LEGOs tonight and just start piecing bricks together. Maybe that'll get some creative juices flowing... actually, I wonder if I can find mead in Arkansas? -

Just in the forum, but make sure to register it here. You might put "freebuild" in the tag or title of your MOC, too. -
