  1. Cool scene, very pretty! The grassy section, cobbled road and waterfront look great together in this build. It looks as if the river is slowly eating away the old stone road. Nice figs as well. I hate when I forget about those dual-headed orcs!
  2. Great to see you building again Kayne, it seems like it's been a little while! This is awesome, I love the pass and the vegatation/coloring up top. The dark red/dark tan/dark brown combo looks awesome and really fits the Nocty atmosphere. The posing of the spearman and Hand forces is great too. I really like those brick-built spears and that standard. It's good to see the Black Spire does not discriminate in its choice of victims!
  3. Thanks Kayne, I feel like I still have a long ways to go however! Thanks man, that is actually one of the regrets I have of this build. The lack of vegetation, and that my snakes all fell out of the trees when I moved this MOC for photos....
  4. Thanks Sarah! Thanks! I was wondering if the border was a little too much, so I'm glad you liked it! Thanks Dan! Wow, thanks robuko! This indeed seemed like a giant mess until I laid the last brick. I appreciate that Aland! Thanks Blufiji! Coming from the Mitgardian Moccing Machine, I will take that as a top compliment!
  5. Pretty sweet build, the stairway looks nice and shaky. A agree with mccoyed about a tad more landscaping. More mountainside would give a nice backdrop to the build. Also, I think photographing this on a solid white background (including underneath the MOC) would really make this shine.
  6. Lovely forced perspective, the sand dunes do a great job of adding dimension to this build. Entertaining story too, I like this rather despicable Lord Zertanax.
  7. Interesting, Anfauglir approaches his old enemy and rival, he must be quite desperate in his own struggles with the Black Spire! These two have not run into each other for years, and even then only on opposite sides of the battlefield. One hopes those memories can be shed in hopes of a greater effort against Raavage. The Nocturnian resistance is growing but alas is as fractured as the Black Spire, if not more so. Cooperation between Shadowmere and the forces of Anfauglir would certainly be a sliver of light in the pitch black darkness... Anyways... Love it! Great scene LV, the build is nice and naturally I am very intrigued by the story! That's a great first attempt at SNOT rocks (I wouldn't even dare share my first try). Perhaps some more height variation of the SNOT'ed sections would enhance the effect, but still this is a nicely composed scene. The figs are fantastic, especially Sithanna. Goes to show you Nocturnus has some of the finest ladies in Historica!
  8. Blaze, it's like you stole the words right out of my mouth!
  9. Nice review Z of what is otherwise just another fairly expensive and wholly uninspired Hobbit set by TLG.
  10. Great use of color dG, a pleasant little scene. I guess it is you who keeps scoring all the cheap 8x8 trans-light blue plates on BL?!
  11. Thanks again y'all!
  12. Awesome scene, very dark and spooky. The greebling is well done and the tree looks quite sinister. Though I must wonder, what are they burning inside that home to produce yellow smoke? A couple of things I might critique: I'm not sure about the brown in between the timbered sections - to me, it kinda takes away from the nicely timber frames, so maybe keeping it solidly tan in between would look better? Also, the top section of the roof is very nicely done with its saggy look. The bottom edge of the roof however is very straight and doesn't quite match the good work you did on top. I guess I would suggest using some wedge plates to give the bottom edge some more shape and thus match better with the sagging portion up top. In any case, this is a very pretty build!
  13. Great interior scene and story BP. The use of minifig legs as trim on the shelf is a great idea!
  14. Great build and quality photography! The vegetation and tree are great touch and I like the way the rockwork abuts the tower. The ledge around the mid section of the tower is a cool technique too!
  15. So, the pig is made of megablocks? (damn EB censors! ) Great little scene V! As always, interesting parts usage and excellent photography.
  16. Nicely detailed landscaping and cool figs. Good work!
  17. Thanks everyone, glad you enjoyed it! The torso is indeed from the evil dwarf CMF. The legs are from a "bad" knight in one of the recent castle series (the one with the yellow and green dragon pattern). Arkansas has great swamps too! I'm lucky enough to get to live in the middle of one! Please, go ahead. Oh boy, this comment made me about fall out of my chair laughing! The Hogs don't need any help, they're usually pretty good at hanging themselves! Thanks Kai! The problem here was when several of the trees plummeted off the table and exploded into their individual pieces. I was in a bit of a hurry to shoot this (work's taking me out of town and away from my bricks for a while, and I wanted to get this up before I left) so when the trees vaporized, I decided it was time to stop shooting. Only when I got to post-processing did I realize a couple of the dark green slopes had removed themselves from the MOC while I was photographing it. So, I just cropped those parts off (very little is actually left out of the photo above, just a few bits of dark green) but I totally understand your point. Sorry, I know that's a long explanation for a pretty dumb mistake (but I learned my lesson, take a lot of time shooting your MOCs!!).
  18. My goodness Jonas, this is one stunning MOC and presentation. This is truly in a class of its own - I have to say, I don't think I've ever seen a more gorgeous, thoughout, and so well-executed build... ever. Like others have mentioned, you truly are the Master of Tan. The castle wall is a perfect example: it is far to easy to make such a wall bland, but you have put in just the right amount of detail to make it just perfect. The amount of realism in this build is jaw-dropping - I love your inclusion of a few Nocturnian refugees in there too! Your use of lights is just phenomenal as well. May I ask what your exposure time was to get those shots? Also, I will have to share this MOC with Rob Hendrix, the owner of Lifelites and a member of my local LUG. I'm sure he will be stunned by this build. Also, I must praise your photography as well. Your builds are always amazing, but your photography is the cherry on top. A build like this would be easy to photograph badly, but that is certainly not the case here (also, you must be an ox of a man to manhandle this build by yourself!). I wish you lived closer, so I could pay you to take photos of my builds! I'm tempted to by a ticket to Denmark just to see this in person (the only way to truly appreciate this, I would think). Anyways, thanks for sharing this, Jonas. You are a true inspiration!
  19. Thanks, I look forward to seeing you advance the Nocturnian cause! Another freebuild for Nocty: Things may be getting quieter from my way over the next couple of months. Saturday is the start of Arkansas' best time of year!
  20. Dotted throughout the Moruth Swamp are numerous outposts, initially built to serve as platforms for the spread of commerce to some of Nocturnus' most inhospitable domains. However, during the war against the Black Spire, these isolated outposts proved essential for resupplying and staging the Nocturnian resistance. Now that the Black Spire's forces are again on the move, the small bases are once more demonstrating their utility. Located deep in the treacherous swamps, the outposts are extremely difficult to reach and only shallow-draft vessels can attempt to near one. A network of informants in the surrounding fishing villages also provide a diligent watch against Black Spire troops. An invading force would be spotted far before reaching an outpost, allowing its tenants to escape or set up an ambush. As one could imagine, life aboard these outposts is not particularly enjoyable, but residents do what they can do pass the long periods of boredom. Fishing, not surprisingly, is a common pastime. That, and counting mosquitos. A couple of "cinematic shots" of the build: A shot of the whole build, and then some close ups: --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- This foggy, swampy outpost is another freebuild for Nocturnus - it's good to be building in the darklands again! I feel like this is my best MOC up-to-date, or at least I hope so because getting those three roofs to sit flush with one another was frustrating as hell. Also, if you're wondering what that odd base is all about, well, it's the best I could do with the dark green I had on hand. It's hard to find a BL seller in the US who wants to charge less than a quarter apiece for dark green bricks! The design is based on some artwork I saw online, from a computer game I believe. The fog effect was done with a fog machine. Anyways, I had a lot of fun building this one, and I hope you enjoy! Feedback always welcomed! And to you gator fans out there, I apologize for the brutality witnessed above (unless you're a UofF fan, then no apology), but that's some darn good eating!
  21. Nice cellar, looks very appropriate. I've never seen that design for wine kegs before, works really well!
  22. Good to see another MOC from you Behemoth! That's a great looking squad and the commander is indeed quite ferocious looking. I also like the photography.
  23. Why bother with lands outside of Historica when you've barely explored the already well-established guilds? Since you don't want to build for a faction you don't know anything about, why wouldn't you build for a Guild you do know something about, like Kaliphlin? I wouldn't worry about what's over the horizon when the existing Guilds already have so much variety to offer. Also, I don't think it's your "reputation" that's holding you back, it's your lack of one. Get out there and build, boy!
  24. Looks great so far, very Kaliphlin-esque. I like what you're going for with the water. The breaking waves look nice, though I wonder if staggering the waves on the left side of the build (like you did on the right side) and having the waves parallel with the build instead of perpendicular would look a little more natural.
  25. Welcome new members! That is a most logical choice, Blufiji.
