Monorail help? Train won't bounce properly at monoswitches
Doom2099 replied to Doom2099's topic in LEGO Train Tech
Hi Kieran, I've got the same problem. All three of my motors usually stick when I try the bounce back. Thanks, the advice is appreciated. I'll look around the monorail motor, and see about spray points. Do you use those on the 9v Y-switches? I'll have to go look up CRC, but may try WD-40, on my monoswitches. -
Hi everyone, just a question for anyone who's got experience with old monorails. Sadly, over the years, my motor's switch seems to have become a little sticky, and the train won't bounce properly at the monoswitches. The straight-through function still works well, and the complete-stop function also works, though it doesn't necessarily stop properly inside the switch. However, it's the bounce not working that's particularly troublesome, as it means I have to build only loop lines or constantly restart the train manually. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to make the motor switch itself move a little easier? Or any ideas on how to make the monoswitches function as they should? Below is a picture, where I hope you can see that the black switch on the motor is getting stuck up against the 45 degree sides of the monoswitch, instead of going inside and then reversing direction. I've also got a video up on Youtube which shows more clearly failed bounces from a few angles, and also successful bounces. It fails a lot more often than it works unfortunately. This forum is an incredible resources for all sorts of fixes and information, and if someone could point me in the right direction it would be greatly appreciated!

I really like the bright and colorful scheme you've got there. Thanks for sharing pics of the original for comparison!

Ideas for New Action Themes
Doom2099 replied to Perry the Platypus's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
That's the first thing I thought of too when I saw this thread. With enough versions of tv, maybe one will get licensed one day. Hmm, old old style mystery being played out in a modular could be a lot of fun! -
To my English only ears, that sounds so cool for the Dragon Masters!

Very nicely done. Using the movie sets, and getting the movie title right in there! Thanks for sharing.

The Black Knights are my favorite thanks to their castles, but Eagle Crest and Lions Crest will always be up there for me too. I also think it's funny how when we were kids we had our own names for the teams, but thanks to the web, all the names are easy to see.

Just on the Marvel side, the vehicle sets are ok, but the Malibu Mansion and Daily Bugle both do a pretty good job of being decent buildings to incorporate into a town. More importantly though, they've just got a lot of play value and options. Have to say though, that DC seems to have the edge in terms of playset type builds.

Nice work! The advertising and bright colors really make it stand out. Any chance of you making some competitors for it?

MOC architecture: Brooklyn Bridge 1/650 scale
Doom2099 replied to Eichhorn's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Nicely done! The hammers are a great touch, as is already packaging in the Architecture box. Good luck! -
Nice idea! For me, I tend to lock down my regular track before and after the flexi-track, and then it can't help but stay in place. I look forward to trying this, and seeing if there's more options people come up with.

Outstanding job! Adding the Octan touch to it really does a good job of tying it in to Lego today. President Business is obviously thinking long term here. Besides the great work up and down the design, the details in the bridge really makes this ship seem practical. Well done all around!

Outstanding work! Great model, and great story to go along with it.

Very nice work! Great colors, and a very nice unified theme. Thanks for sharing!

Ah, this is very cute! Have you thought about a blue space version? Maybe Benny can ride on the back!

All of these ideas would make me spend a lot of money of Marvel CMFs. There are so many classic costumes from Marvel over the years, getting more along with footsoldiers would be fantastic.

Should I invest in Lego 9 Volt Trains or Power Function Trains
Doom2099 replied to jamesed_1971's topic in LEGO Train Tech
I resisted the move to power functions for quite a while, but there's a lot of advantages to the new system, mostly just the fact that you can get as much as you need without needing to back collect on Bricklink. Plus, it's nice to control multiple trains from a distance. -
Very well done, it's useful and attractively built. Thanks for sharing, there's a lot of great ideas in here!

Outstanding work! Hobbiton is always good for scenery, and mixing in the fun of Fabuland is inspired. So many details packed in this just waiting to be found!

Outstanding! My jaw dropped as soon as I saw this. Well worth a royal visit!

Very nice design, and in Maersk colors, it looks even better! Looking forward to seeing more of the new official freight train, but this I'm sure will inspire quite a few people to try their own. Nice job!

This is a fantastic station, with all sorts of details thrown in. Emmet would be a suitable visitor, just wondering if he'd be confused by 6 wide trains? Thanks for sharing your creation!

Wow, these are outstanding! The size and power of the Deltic are particularly pleasing, and great job on the windshield and nose. Thanks for sharing!

TRAIN TECH Help, General Questions & Talk to the Staff
Doom2099 replied to WesternOutlaw's topic in LEGO Train Tech
This is great! I didn't know Lego had a shark that would require an 8 wide car, so then I had to check it out, and saw that it comes with Lasers on its head in Agents? Dr. Evil would be proud.- 578 replies
