The LEGO Movie Sets News and Discussion
kermit replied to Itaria No Shintaku's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Seventeen sets based on one movie seems quite alot. Given that they mentioned that the sets will represent various lego themes from the movie maybe there is hope for a pirate set. This does bring a very curious question. Assuming that there wil be one huge set to be rhe flag ship set of the movie out of he seventeen, what can it possibly be. Or will lego just produce smaller economical sets since the target audience of the movie will be little kids who would obviously not be able to purchase a bunch of higher priced sets.- 2,626 replies

I absolutely love this moc. I really does portray a nice tranquil scenery.

I think it would be wise of lego to rest the original trilogy sets for now so that they can stretch out this theme as much as possible. after they do the sets for the next two hobbit movies then they can bring back some more original trilogy sets so that they seem fresh.

I know lego always like to end a theme with a big exclusive set for example kingdoms. With the tower of orthanc set does that mean that the LOTR sets will be given a break and lego will focus more on the hobbit sets since there will be two more movies coming out?

Just the answer to down time when you are on the road!

Just dont build and drive at the same time. Chase will be looking at you. :) -
The riddler's and batman's car although they look good, are not that impressive. I will be getting this set soley to get my hands on the flash minifigure as I am sure everyone else is. The vehicles in the set will be just like an added bonus. I do hope that the batman and riddler minifiguers will be a little different from the ones that we already have. Given lego's recent sets like the batboat set and the nick furry set can this be a $20 value set?

You can always use them as to make a road if you dont mind having some studs on top. I however, used them to place my moc buildings on baseplates so that the building can easily be removed without destroying it for easy storage. For example, I built a farm on a 32x32 baseplate with a windmill and a barn. I used several green and tan plates for the grass and dirt and the minifigure base plates/stands to rest the barn and windmill on so i can remove them with ease when i want to store so that i can remove the buildings while keeping the rest of the entire farm moc intact. Alternatively if you have a modular building you can use them as tiling for the interior floors as the studs will allow you to put furniture in and stand minifigures without them moving about. Also if the roof of your modular building is flat you can use it to tile the top. P.s. I should of asked this first but are these the black stands that you get in the minifigure series minifigs that you are referring to?

Bought two endor rebel battle packs to boost my storm and scout trooper numbers for when I get the ewok village. Unfortunately many people had the same idea because the set is now sold out on lego and since it was on its retiring soon page, it will be dificult to find later on.

Love the printing on the horse and yes it does seem a bit small for the price. Wish they had motorized the carousel.

Thats a good idea but it may look strange with that tower wall element. -
I wonder if lego chose to go with a more kid orientated version for this theme so that it wouldnt compete with the Lord of the rings sets due to it being much higher in prices. And i agree with you just2good.

Now how did I miss this great creation. I t just blows my mind and i can only imagine the number of bricks that went into this moc. The way the black sea monster was designed and incorporated into the scene is so great.

Wow this is amazing and im definitely doing this when i get my own set. I am wondering though is there is a better way to hide the light up bricks. I guess you can bake the two large spires at the top of the tower hollow and thicker to put the light up bricks in but how to angle the light up brick inside? The other option might me to put the light up brick in the top floor but that wont provide enough light to brighten up the entire eye? Any thoughts?

I love these type of creations. The bricks used for the turtle`s shell really gives it that textutre that real turtle shells have.

The dragon mountain set does seem to have a fantasy feel to it. That is primarily due to the dragon but this theme looks more like an extension of the previous castle theme (not kingdoms) due to the knights and the colors used. I guess the question is what is the distinction between the fantasy era and the castle ear to classify these sets. I always thought once you had a dragon it was fantasy. For example both kingdoms and castle are castle themes but castle is in the fantasy time period and kingdoms is in the more real world period.

I see a combination of imperial flag ship, black pearl and queen anns revenge. Quite nice and I think the ropes used for the saild is what makes the ship. The cabin is a nice touch especially with the doors. Any plans to add an upper deck?

I would use those robot droid arms as the clock hands as they give it that medieval look and and a large circular plate or turntable for the clock face. You should also use some tree leaves or vines for the walls of the tower to cover up some of the plain grey sides. -
Very nice moc, but im curious to know what inside the cave looks like.

You can use it to build more walls to your existing castle or watch towers or even a tall medieval clock tower for the middle of your medieval village. If you look around the historic forum and the castle topics you will find loads of mocs that you can use as examples and reference.
