Normally I don't like black cars since you can't see any details, but that Skyline is sexy as hell Great job on all the the car butts, that's something I've been trying to improve on recently.

How do you expert builders begin to design and build a modular building?
Henchmen4Hire replied to JLSD's topic in LEGO Town
Designed a handful of buildings, the most helpful thing I can suggest is to first establish the "scale". How tall do you want the ceilings to be? How many floors? What space are you trying to fit it in? etc. Once you figure out the perimeter/footprint/shape of the building the job becomes easier because now you have a tangible goal. Setting up "limits" or "borders" like this is a great way to keep from getting overwhelmed, otherwise your brain will just wander forever trying to come up with something. Once you have the shell of the building worked-out, adding details is a lot easier too. Now you're simply tweaking here and there, adding windows, damage, replacing a few bricks, etc. -
It's a bug, we currently can't load those parts. Studio is still relatively new so they're improving it all the time, report any bugs you find on the beta forum for it over at Bricklink.

[Digital Render] Mining Barge (Starmancer)
Henchmen4Hire replied to The Mugbearer's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I read MovieMocs's first post as "if you built it [with real bricks], I think it would look good with stickers.", which I agree with, at least to add the pale diagonal "Caution" lines, or dark stripes near the rear top. No snark detected, I guess it depends on your state of mind when you read things. If I can go off for a sec: I get salty too that my stuff gets ignored, but it's not because no one likes it or there's something wrong with the builds. It has more to do with building stuff you love, but no one else cares about, so they don't feel the need to comment. Make a modular building or Transformer with LEGO and watch as people come out of the woodwork to ask you to bless their babies with your godly touch. But build an obscure car in a scale no one likes, or a replica of a video game weapon no one uses and you're almost guaranteed to be dancing by yourself, or however the song goes lol. Have you found any other LEGO forums that have a more active community, or are at least into other themes? I mostly post my stuff on Flickr too, at least there sometimes people ask for build tips and you can get a conversation going. Anyway, I like seeing the results when people try to recreate something as accurately as possible with LEGO. Sometimes I slip into a zen coma as my brain tries to imagine how to fit parts together to get the right proportions or offset or whatever it is that's driving me crazy at that moment. lol- 11 replies

[MOCs] Swing Carousel/Chair-O-Planes, Drop Tower
Henchmen4Hire replied to AlexDoesLego12102's topic in LEGO Town
Cripes, those look more like elaborate ways to kill minifigs than rides, especially that Drop Tower... Here we go guys! We're almost at the top! Here we go here we go her we g-! SPLAT! Great builds.- 13 replies

Thanks, I was looking for that piece in Wedges instead of Slopes I'm glad the Studio program has it already
-
By the way, are those red wedge pieces at the corners of the hood this piece cut in half? It's a great piece for car mocs, i just can't find halves like you used. I may just snip a white one in half for an upcoming moc :]
-
Just looked up the car, yikes thats a round, tough car to make. Now I can see all the details you managed to recreate :)
-
Good, that just makes it more exciting to ride lol
-
Nice, I like the colors and how much detail you packed into a 6-wide
-
I like the nose, I've been looking for an excuse to use those panel pieces for a grill too

[MOC] 1955 Ford Thunderbird (First Generation)
Henchmen4Hire replied to darkhorse00's topic in LEGO Town
Because I think builders appreciate it when people notice the tiny thoughtful things: Good job using that white rail plate to simulate the little grills/vents on the side. Maybe it would look more accurate using a light bluish one though?- 21 replies

Cripes, I totally understand his rage. This one time there were painters who came to paint this building, and I guess they ran out of plastic sheet. So, what did they do? Instead of going to buy more plastic sheet, they took some fabric chairs I had outside, stripped the fabric off the frame and used that to cover the floor. I mean, who the hell does that! All those paint fumes must have affected their brains lol

The quad is so cool, I'm trying that right now

I haven't seen the car before, but damn that's a cool design. Nice shapes everywhere. I'm now following you on Flickr, fellow 8-wider lol

LEGO Gundam Barbatos ASW-G-08 1/60 *Building
Henchmen4Hire replied to demon14082001's topic in LEGO Sci-Fi
I like that those gundam frames look like a random mess of parts until you start putting the armor shapes onto them. I recently bought some 1/144 gundam kits and really like the idea of attaching bits to a frame, I just don't have the patience to design a frame that will be as poseable as this. -
The wider body gives it a centipede vibe, I like it.
-
I like the build, I just hope you make that solid wall more interesting :)

^Try Stud.io, it gets updated regularly to fix bugs and add new parts. Plus it lets you seamlessly export your model as a want list to Bricklink.

Yeah definitely, I go into detail on each picture there on flickr. I accidentally based it on the Superbird's wheelbase (something like 116 inches) instead of the Barracuda's (like 10 inches shorter) so I took off a stud.

Shortening the wheelbase by 1 stud resulted in several things becoming more accurate Corvette Grand Sport 2017 by Henchmen4Hire, on Flickr

Thank you Here's another feature to add interest, I created suspension for it. This should easily fit into most 8-wide cars: Corvette Suspension by Henchmen4Hire, on Flickr Corvette Front Axle by Henchmen4Hire, on Flickr

It's cute, in a blocky 80's car sort of way lol I like the roof and door "handles", I've been experimenting lately with techniques for them

Welp, I don't have anyone else to share my Lego interest with so I came crawling back to you like the jellyfish I've become lol. And since I can't seem to win over anyone with my 70's muscle cars, let's give this new hotness a try. Corvette Grand Sport 2017 by Henchmen4Hire, on Flickr While it was tempting to just widen the Speed Champions Corvette since it's almost the same car body, the car still didn't look right. Plus, I also wanted to pack as much detail into it as possible. There are more pictures and build commentary for each of the individual pictures, just click through and enjoy.
