  1. Just kidding, it's predictable xD Picked-up an Alien Avenger for like $8 at a yard sale and didn't like the stereotypical saucer-design, so I elongated it a little. Has a roomy interior and the top saucer detaches. I tried selling it a few times, but I can't even get $20 for it, haha. I know it could use a few more tiles to smooth the design, but eh, I don't think anyone is going to complain about this dude's ship when he has 3 swiveling cannons pointed at them. :D
  2. Noooo, I'd go bankrupt reviewing Technic sets, the only two I have are old Robo-Riders I got from a school christmas party. All I have is free-time, haha. I'd be glad to hear about your project! We'll most likely need an additional contributor or two, so there may be plenty of room for you to add content. :)
  3. PLEASE tell me someone already made an ED-209 from Robocop using this as a base! Love it, looks like a big burly bruiser.
  4. Yar, spread the wings a little. I love that minifig! He looks as ancient as that machine.
  5. Here are some Daleks my friend Wes made: http://thefwoosh.com/forum/viewtopic.php?p=1689796#p1689796 They even have moving parts!
  6. I'm not crazy about the color-scheme, but I like the scalloped-looking body and how sharp it looks despite being boxy...or maybe I just need some sleep, I don't know!
  7. Wow, minifig customs sure have come a long way from the quick messy repaints I remember. Nifty!
  8. That is one tough-lookin' mofo, hah. I like the dry-brushing. The only thing that bugs me a little is the fingerprints on the flamethrower, I'm guessing you sculpted a little there? Of course, we could always just say that's duct tape texture ;)
  9. Anyone else think these new Space Police vehicles look a lot like the stuff the cops in Batman Beyond use? Now that I read about Lego Universe mode for LDD, I'm gonna try to recreate some cruisers!
  10. Heh, I customize action figures and I've never seen these kind of "factions"? in that community, so this is a little surprising. If someone wants to hack-away at their LEGOs, so what? The argument of "well you might as well move on to clay and balsa wood" is, no offense, ridiculous. Gluing two LEGOs together doesn't automatically make you a great sculptor or wood-carving expert, nor should it even imply that you SHOULD move-on to doing that. People alter their LEGOs because they want something new that's still compatible with their LEGOs. Maybe they want to make a Justice League with them, I don't see any Wonder Woman mini-figs, and I'm sure not gonna wait 10 years for it to be officially made, har har. Why is it even a problem as to how they go about doing that? The only reason I don't take a dremel to my LEGO vehicles is because the modifications are usually obvious due to how perfect a machine-made LEGO brick is, and there's usually a less-destructive way to incorporate whatever features you want anyway. Live and let die! :)
  11. I have a feeling that'll be the general consensus, that's why I'm adding all the extra content. I also plan on linking to any other reviews I find about the same set, mainly shorter more concise reviews, because I can type indefinitely if left unchecked, heh. I think eventually I'll end-up setting-up a page with a link to all half-way decent reviews across the net. Newer sets would be ideal, but I don't have that kind of money (I'm gonna try to squeeze some sample reviews out of the LEGO guys at SDCC, though from what I hear, I shouldn't hold my breath, haha), what I'm going to do is hopefully help people see that old sets aren't obsolete and have lots of uses still. I mean, it's one thing to see a set on Brickset, but I think it's even more helpful to have someone show you what the set is capable of.
  12. @ The people who don't like Space Police 3: You folks must not be Batman Beyond fans? The first thing I thought when I saw their new rides was Hey! Those ships look like the ones the cops use in Batman Beyond! Frikkin' sweet! If the Space Police-figures themselves had similar outfits as well, I would have just about died with giddiness. I didn't like any of the early Space sets, too blocky (har har).
  13. Yar, so I haven't kept-up with anything LEGO since mid-1990, mainly due to poverty and a dislike for the world in general (gotta love adolescence, haha). I've been reading BrickJournal, The Brick (the annual mag LEGO releases), and various other sites with "brick" in the titles, but what I really want to know is, is there a place we can go to read in-depth reviews of LEGO sets? A friend and I are starting a LEGO review-site very soon (don't worry, I won't cram advertising down your throat :) ) so I was wondering if this has been done already, what are we up against?, that sort of thing. I have 3 reviews written so far, trying to find a voice that won't annoy adults too much and kids won't ignore because of the fancy words. I like to think I'm improving with each successive review, but the fact is that I just don't have enough sets to keep refining. (I'm already borrowing friends' sets) Anyway, I settled on writing like I usually do (I review action figures) and including a bunch of comics with each post for kids, does that seem like a fair trade-off? What would you folks like to see on a LEGO review site? I don't think I'd have to cover much news because there are already plenty of sites to read that, so that lets us focus on other fun stuff, how about: -constant flow of Comics -overview of the Lego Magazine? -weekly/bi-weekly MOCs by readers of all ages -the occasional goofball article or interview with LEGO fans (both kids and adults are free to email us their stories about how they started to love LEGOs and we'll post them) -coverage of LEGO-events if I can go The reviews themselves will always have comics and alternate models you can make with the pieces in the set, along with notes on how fun it is, how hard it is to build, and what I think of the design in general (lets face it, some sets look like junk, sorry!). Enough of my lip-flappin'!, what do you think? Here are some sample-pictures, if nothing else, at least you'll get a clear view of the LEGOs on our site, haha.
  14. Well, this is me, I know I'm not much to look at (just a pile of pixels on your screen) but eventually I hope to contribute somehow to the amazing creations I've been browsing lately. Also, I'm now learning as much as possible about LEGOs after being in a funk since the '90s, it's a wonder what a handful of bricks can do for a sour life. I'm into Pirates, trans-orange and purple elements, metal, and Redheads. Hello world. :)
