  1. I like the color scheme, but dislike the texture of the sails, which I think would look better without any tiles at the front. Also, I think the gaff sail is the wrong shape - looks like it was cut in half.
  2. I've been looking forward to this set, but now that I've seen it, I think it's no big deal. I'm convinced I could build my own version with the bricks I already own. The biggest disappointment for me are the minifigures - sure, the falcon knights are kind of cool, but the civilians look like they were scrambled together from leftovers. The green buttoned vest pirate torso seems especially out of place to me, like it was put there as a placeholder and someone totally forgot to replace it.
  3. Curiously, for a while I've been toying with the idea of making an extensive MOD of the Durmstrang Ship myself, but ultimately decided to go for someting bigger than that.
  4. This looks quite spectacular! If it wasn't steampunk (and if the poor nets weren't cut to make the riggings...), it would be just what I'm looking for.
  5. Still not a fan of it, as it looks hilariously long to me, more like a train than a ship.
  6. Whoa, that's impressive. Shame it's digital. How exactly did you connect the flags to make the tattered sails? Wouldn't they fall apart at the slightest touch IRL?
  7. Well, I decided to share a WIP of mine, slightly more cartoonish than your average ship MOC. It's supposed to be built on the 7075 hull, which is sadly unavailable in neither LDD nor Stud.io. Its crew will consist of a derpy skeleton captain, two kids, a turtle and an octopus.
  8. This sure is wacky, but seems to be little more than an extensive mod of the ship from the Spongebob set, and I'm looking for something more creative. To clear things up, it doesn't have to be so ridiculously wacky to the point it barely looks like a pirate ship, just cartoonish enought to not take itself too seriously.
  9. Do you know any pirate ship MOCs that intentionally break away from historical accuracy in favor of certain wackiness and cartoonish looks? Most ships I've ever seen appear to be designed as historically accurate as possible, and while I highly appreciate that, sometimes I can't help but think they all look the same. I'd love to see a creation that looks more like a cheerful toy rather than a perfect display model for a change - I'm thinking something in the vein of 70810 MetalBeard's Sea Cow or 7075 Captain Redbeard's Pirate Ship. Bright colors and exaggerated proportions are welcome.
  10. These parts are old type skeleton arms, if I'm not mistaken.
  11. I'd start with extending the masts by at least 50%.
  12. Hmmm. Not really a fan of this modification. I feel it looks awkwardly, almost comically long.
  13. I love Asterix and Obelix and I think these are super neat! I would so buy them if they were released as a set.
  14. But weren't the set images in retailer catalogues mostly prelims in the past?
  15. I still hope it's not, in fact, the final product, as not only is the main cannon ridiculously long, but the twin side cannons seem to be upside down. Also, as I've mentioned before, the tank is missing the distinct blue stripe at the front.
  16. Cheese slopes in red are available since 2004, while The Clone Wars movie, where the Trident makes its first appearance, came out in 2008.
  17. I like the new AAT, but I feel that the hinged front panel should be Dark Blue instead of LBG. Pretty much every image of a Clone Wars era AAT I've seen on the net features a vertical blue stripe at the front. The LEGO version from 2009 has it too. Also, I think the base of the main cannon looks a bit bulky compared to the source.
  18. Actually, now that I've searched more thoroughly, there seems to be several such series from different Chinese companies, including some brickheadz-style buildable figures.
  19. I doubt LEGO will win over the Chinese market with this series, as the Chinese already have their own series of bricks based on "Journey to the West", and it doesn't look half bad, too:
  20. What about the mixel ball joints connecting the legs to the body?
  21. A carrack has three masts whereas this one has only two.
