I was bored..no sign of my next T.I.E. arriving.....
Corydoras replied to r5-j2's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Contacted the moderator? May I ask why? All the replies here have been respectful so far, only pointing out facts. Most fans would probably agree that LEGO is quite expensive to collect. If you don't feel you can afford it, you might consider moving to a different hobby - I'm perfectly honest about it and don't mean to offend you in any way. On the other hand, I'm also rather poor - only one person in my family has a (more or less) steady job, but I still manage to buy myself an average-sized set or a handful of useful parts once in a few months. It's only a matter of being thrifty... and sometimes not eating well, I guess... -

Fake clone bricks again, I'm guessing? -
Didn't notice there was a MOC sub-forum. If it belongs there, a mod could move it.

Well, not really childhood, I was around 15-16 back then. While searching for some papers I found these three photos. What they try to show is most likely the last MOC I built before my Dark Age - an imperial ship. I've never had any specialized hull pieces or original cloth sails, so I was forced to improvise. Also notice the brickbuilt anchor and a steering wheel made from... a wheel, what else? http://img11.deviant...kun-d97pqdr.jpg http://img15.deviant...kun-d97pqih.jpg http://img04.deviant...kun-d97pqm5.jpg The ship doesn't look THAT bad for a teenage attempt, despite the messy color scheme and the fact it's around 40-50% cheap clone bricks (never dreamed that in 10 years I'd finally have a decent sized collection). Not AFOL quality for sure, but still a nostalgic link back to my school days...

The concept is ok, but as a LEGO purist I can't help but notice the stand is built almost entirely from poor quality knockoff bricks.

This looks like the best rendition so far in terms of the nose, but you got the wings wrong. Is the windscreen available in Trans Black?
-
Seems more like droopy eyelids than eyelashes to me. Eyelashes would point upwards.

Jango looks great. Thank you for all these reviews, mate. You did a really good job on them.

*heavy breathing* Grievous is as awesome as I thought he would be. Tall and imposing. Now I only need to wait a few days before the prices here drop around 10%.
-
Wings are excellent, but the nose & cockpit is one big fail in my eyes.

Wrong thread.

I doubt anyone could tell the difference at such a small scale... It's pretty much the same design anyway. The Force Awakens here, The Force Awakens there... Can't wait for it to go back to sleep.

What about Vader's control panel? -
Star Wars Constraction 2015 Discussion
Corydoras replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Action Figures
Super excited for Vader and Grievous, day one purchase for me! Just wondering: are all decorated parts in them printed or are there some stickers too? -
Well, to be honest, the abundance of jokes made the review a bit tiresome to read for me too. I'm a non-native speaker, though.

Has your pet(s) ever caused damage to your collection?
Corydoras replied to legosamsonite's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I only ever had rodents as pets (I don't count fish) and never let them close to my collection. My friend once tried building little houses for his pet hamster - both from original LEGO and from cheaper clone bricks. The hamster would only nibble on original LEGO and not on the clone brand. That little furball had a good taste in bricks... -
The price for him is pretty good here in my country, exactly what I'm willing to pay for such a huge, detailed and poseable figure.
-
I'm way more excited for the constraction Vader and Grievous than for the entire EPVII wave. BTW, I love the fact that the boxes for them apparently won't have that Ton Stimpy... errr... I mean, Kylo Ren guy in the upper right corner so I can still pretend the Disney fanfiction doesn't exist. Wait a moment, doesn't "Ton Stimpy" sound even better, actually?

I have mixed feelings about this set. It's definitely a vast improvement over the previous "minifig" version, the overall shape is correct, the model does the ship justice. However, it's full of messy parts and unnecessary details that really spoil the aesthetics. All the randomly scattered plates, wedges and tiles are like an insult to the smoothness of the original. In my opinion, the worst thing are the side wings - they don't look half bad when folded out, but the undersides exposed when in landing mode are simply terrible. They should be built the same way as the top fin, with bricks and liftarms.
-
I'm not being super critical, sorry if it sounded too harsh. It certainly CAN be improved, even in such a small scale. Adding front guns and cooling intakes, for example, should be no big deal and is just a matter of putting some thought and creativity into your build. It's an early prototype made in LDD. I've been working on this thing for a very, very long time already, the newest version is a lot smoother and cleaner than this. Sadly, I still miss a couple of fairly rare white technic connectors to finish the build.

In my opinion, this build hardly resembles a Lambda-class shuttle. The shape of the cockpit is wrong, the colors are off, front guns are missing, as well as many other details essential to the vessel.

[MOC] Redesigned smaller scale Star Wars X-Wing
Corydoras replied to Xynthymr's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Looks nice, but only vaguely resembles an X-Wing. Lots of weird looking angles and shapes that look very inaccurate. -
Brilliant! This is definitely the most awesome MOC I've seen recently. I'd love to get a parts list so I could build it myself.

Prequel = rounded, OT = simple and blocky? A common misconception. The first LEGO A-Wing was a disaster for the very same reason - it was based on smooth, sloped surfaces that could not be accurately reproduced back then. The central sphere of the Tie Fighter, all the complex angles of the B-Wing, the Mon Calamari warships from ROTJ... The Republic war machinery from the prequels, on the other hand, is rather simple and utilitarian. The first incarnation of the AT-TE looks pretty good even by today's building standards. Heck, I think the very first Flash Speeder is more accurate than the new version released this year!
