Probably better to buy from Argos then - at least they're not avoiding paying tax in the UK Sadly I abandon my morals in favour of a Lego bargain... Amazon UK have 40% off Attack on Weathertop and 40% off Spongebob The Flying Dutchman - some nice rare-ish parts in that one Also my Local Asda has Mia's Magic Tricks & Emma's Karate Class at half price. And 3 for 2 on Series 1 Friends Collectible Animal things at Tescos (more nice parts).

Escape from Mirkwood Spiders down to £13.99 on amazon UK. Sorry can't add link as using my phone.

What was the last movie you watched?
Praiter Yed replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Watched X-Men 2 with my daughter at the weekend - she enjoyed it so much that we watched X-Men: The Last Stand straight after (is that the equivalent of punishing her for doing nothing wrong?). I realised when she asked 'Why doesn't Storm just use her powers to clear the mist?' that even an 11 year old girl can see what's wrong with this film . -
Episode V - Carbon Freeze Chamber Diorama
Praiter Yed replied to markus1984's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Another beautiful scene Markus, and congratulations on your well deserved win! You've already made some of the most memorable scenes from the OT - I really can't wait to see what you come up with for this! -
REVIEW: 71002 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 11
Praiter Yed replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I always like to look at these reviews for an in-depth view at what useful parts are available and this one has been very insightful - thanks WhiteFang . I was especially happy to see that the Scarecrow's hat and crow are separate items . I'm very pleased with this new series, there's lots of pieces I'd be happy to collect multiples of. Series 6 has long been my favourite but I think this beats it.- 117 replies

Recommended Printer for Decals?
Praiter Yed replied to BrickG's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
For a hobby, I'm not so sure it's necessary to spend a lot on a printer. My home printer isn't so good so I use a HP Business Inkjet 2800 at work to print my decals. This printer must be about 4 years old and only has a maximum resolution of 600dpi! There must be better HP (or other brand) printers on the market that are far superior to this and no doubt at a reasonable price. You'll get the best results by ignoring the instructions that come with your decal paper, experimenting with your printer settings and giving your prints a long time to dry (24hrs). I've found that setting the print resolution at 600dpi and choosing paper settings such as "premium HP paper' for Lazertran paper and 'Photo Paper Gloss' for normal transparent or white paper works for me. I also think that I'm a perfectionist, but perhaps I'm not? Have a look at some of my customs in my flickr and see if you think they're up to the standard you need, and if they are, get yourself a cheaper printer - then you can afford more minifig parts BTW if you decide that I'm not a perfectionist and that my customs aren't up to the quality you need - I'd prefer not to know, then I can continue in my blissful ignorance -
What was the last movie you watched?
Praiter Yed replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
Yes, The Lizard's character and motive were lacking. I thought Tobey Maguire was supposed to be a high-school student in the first film though? Although I have to admit I'm always confused about the U.S. school system (especially when you see 'kids' driving cars and 'doing it' in films like KickAss). -
What was the last movie you watched?
Praiter Yed replied to EbonHawk's topic in Culture & Multimedia
I do - apart from Spiderman III, obviously . But I didn't watch it with that kind of "I like the originals so I'm not going to like this!" attitude - I really wanted to enjoy it. There were a lot of things I liked about it, the fact they closed up on some 'iconic' Spidey poses and the 'swinging through the city at night' scenes where (perhaps) better than the Raimi ones (been a while though). Apart from the boredom It's difficult to say why I was disappointed, but It didn't really draw me in emotionally - I didn't even care when Uncle Ben died. I bought the dvd so I'll no doubt watch it with the kids at some point - maybe I'll enjoy it more the second time around. -

I watched the director's cut of Leon (aka The Professional) last night. Haven't watched this film in years and it was the first time I'd seen this version, imo it was a lot better than the theatrical cut (which is already a great film). -
Found some small-ish sets on offer in-store @ Tescos 50% off 4200 Mining 4x4 - £4 50% off 4433 Dirt Bike Transporter - £9 50% off 3183 Stephanie's Cool Convertible - £7.50 And a whopping 25p reduction on Series 9 Minifigs Lots of other minor offers on various themes - maybe worth checking a store near you.

I'd love to use your Micro X-Wing design on an MOC I'm planning. I hope you don't mind, but I had a quick play-around to see if there was a way to add cannons to the wings and came up with the idea of using minifig knives. Of course this is highly illegal and would place the cannons on the inside of the wings - but does that matter at this scale?

A few good offers on Chima over at Amazon UK at the moment (Wakz's pack Tracker was at 50% but gone back up to only 44% now) . Not really keen on this theme but some good parts... Ultimate Speedor Tournament 50% Chi Battles 50% I'm also finding 40% off the City Fire Emergency set quite tempting And Elite Clone Trooper Battle Pack only £6.99

Does watching a Star Wars film inspire you to buy Lego?
Praiter Yed replied to RednWhite's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I watched episodes II & III at the weekend too - it seems every-time I see them they get worse . Watching the films doesn't affect or influence my Lego buying. I mostly collect OT sets and pretty much know which ones I'm going to buy when I see them, ie the ones that I think look good and the crap ones that have good minifigs (so most of them then). But, watching the films does give me renewed interest in all the amazing SW MOCs I'm going to build, I may plan parts of them out in LDD or sort out some pieces that I'm going to need, then all too soon, life or a good film will distract me and before you know it another year has passed and Star Wars is back on TV again and I've built nothing! Ah well, at least we've got Episode IV to look forward too next week . -
[MOC] UCS Nebulon B - Medical Frigate 'Redemption'
Praiter Yed replied to mortesv's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I never realised that there was so much colour on the Nebulon B . This could be one of those creations where it's acceptable to just write "awesome!", but I think I'll go with stunning! Much as I like your transparent stand, I need to ask is it really sturdy enough to hold it securely? It looks like just a slight push could send it toppling. -

Bought 5 Hoth Han Solos off eBay because one that I'd previously bought got lost in the post . Got a good deal on five so will try to do some trades at some point. And just picked up Sebulba's Podracer and Tatooine - seemed rude not to buy it at only £3!

Duplo Boba Fett, need some help and advice
Praiter Yed replied to Bobskink's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Wow, this is both brilliant and fun! The helmet sculpting looks very well done and personally I think the current amount of detail on the arms and legs is fine (although I'm sure the addition of vambraces wouldn't do any harm either). Well done I'm intrigued to find out who your second character will be..? -

Collectible Minifigures Trading Suggestion

Updated my list with more Series 9 & 10 figs and a unopened Series 6 Classic Alien that I found at the back of a draw! I've also added to my 'wants' list -
That's a nice looking 'sonic' - would be interesting to see some variants based on other Doctor's screwdrivers. I like the way you've built the internal structure, using track pieces with the 1 x 8 tiles to create the handle (don't think I've seen that done before).

Very funny vignette of a very funny scene - I also think the 'motion lines' are a nice touch and the whale is well done.
