[MOC] Bonsai Bust Up: Ultimate Battle

Thanks Ferrik - I made a real effort to get the figures posed right to give a sense of action. -

Cool, thanks - you really are awesome and now officially my favourite Mod -
The base and foliage are really well done and I like the way you've incorporated two separate parts of the Speeder Bike chase. I had it in mind to build a Speeder Bike chase myself - must stop procrastinating! I haven't seen the really big vine/tenatcle piece before - where is that from?

OK, This news has had time to sink in, and I've read a lot of the posts here... some mentioning OT fanboys who weren't happy with what GL was doing with Star Wars and are now moaning about someone else taking over - I freely admit, I kind of fall into that category. However, I'm not so much sickened at the thought of Disney taking the reigns as I am at Episode VII. I can only imagine this movie being bad, but ever the optimist, I hope to be proved wrong. As an OT fanboy what I would rather see Disney do could seem quite radical or even controversial; I'd prefer a complete re-boot starting from Episode I with a decent and coherent story running through how ever many films they decided to make. Of course I'd complain that Episodes IV, V, and maybe even VI aren't as good as the originals but at least we could get improved versions of I, II & III and maybe some good new films to boot. And of course (Art-Apples) this new series would require lots of cameos - maybe Samuel L. Jackson could play Lobot . If enough time has passed to re-start Spiderman then enough time has passed for a Star Wars re-boot but (unfortunately?) that's not going to happen yet.

That's the idea although I have to admit I'm really not sure how big actual Bonsai Trees are -

That's fair enough, but you can't blame us for trying . -
A very good and amusing MOC markus1984 - George Lucas in the bath of gold is definitely the funny highlight. BUT this is such a nice build and maybe I'm just being boring, but I think it would be cool to see a version with Luke and Vader just as the scene should be played out .

Super Hero Caption Contest! Week One

Quick Robin, show him you're Dick and he might calm down! EDIT: Kept same theme but changed wording to include more double entendre. -
I haven't contributed or even looked at this thread for a while . It took something quite big to bring me out of funny retirement. Hope you like it...

[MOC] Bonsai Bust Up: Ultimate Battle

Thanks for the nice comments everyone @Harton - I watched 'Babycart in Peril' & 'Lady Snowblood', films I hadn't watched in years, to get in the Ninja frame-of-mind . Lady Snowblood in particular was the inspiration behind Tarantino's Kill Bill . And, yes, he wins this one but I'm afraid in round 2 he isn't quite as successful. @DraikNova - I know where you're coming from, I personally don't like to see blood in military/war MOC's - I feel Zombie and Ninja themes are fair game though @Kristel - Thanks, I thought it would be fun to attempt a life-size tree . The pot was so frustrating, I spent ages making a base that sloped at the bottom and had little legs - I even had to completely reverse the stud direction to do it - and you can't even see it in the picture . -

Given recent activity, I've decided to take a chance and enter this 16x16 vignette after-all. If the entry is disallowed, that's fair enough and I apologise to Peppermint M in advance for my bare-faced-cheek. Bonsai Bust Up... -
I can't believe you managed to fit so many details into such a small space without it looking crowded - the brush behind the Ninjas back is a great idea.

Get the ninja to do it.

An original and funny idea very well done . Vader will win - he has the power of the force plus his lightsaber will slice through a katana like a hot knife through butter. -
[MOC] Bonsai Bust Up: Ultimate Battle
Praiter Yed posted a topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Bonsai Bust Up... The Blood Ninja clan have set up an ambush for Samurai Kai (no relation). Unfortunately he spots them easily due to their crimson uniforms. Little does he know that this is a ruse to allow the assasin Lady Bloodbloom to assess his skills. Bonsai Battle on flickr ...and my 8x8 entry... Lady Bloodbloom: The Flowers of Vengeance... The last surviving member of the Blood Ninja Clan and a 'mistress' of disguise, this beautiful female Ninja (Kunoichi) specialises in assassination. Lady Bloodbloom's greatest assest is the fact she's managed to convince the world that she only has one eye. Her weapon of choice is a hand-held fan tipped with a sharpened steel blade. It is said that wherever she walks the flowers turn red... Lady Bloodbloom on Flickr C&C Welcome. -
This is sickening!

There seem to be a few comments from members (like myself) who didn't actually own the set but agree that it looks awful, and a couple of comments from people who owned it and think it was brilliant. Would it be fair to surmise that 6951 was a horrendous looking set with some excellent play features?
-
Well, as I said before this topic was lost; I was really looking forward to this series and always knew its was going to be good . Seriously, I've been forced to eat my words, I'm pleasantly surprised at how good this series has been. I don't think it's captured the hilarity of some of the very early episodes but has certainly been a vast improvement over later shows - I've found myself watching in a constant state of mild amusement (more than you can hope for in most modern British sit-coms) and even found myself laughing-out-loud... "Are Chinese whispers racist?..." I previously said that they should leave Red Dwarf well alone, now I hope they make more!

A Tesco store near my work has some minor reductions on lots of City sets plus the X-Wing fighter is reduced to around £37 and Series 1 Planet sets are around £7.50 (some other SW sets are reduced too) AND they have a 3 for 2 offer on all toys incl. Lego - (cheapest free) I'm assuming this is a nation-wide promo. Also my local Asda and The Book People are selling the Ninjago Character Encyclopaedia for £5
-
Same here, I was holding out for at least a 33% reduction but caved at £89.39 and yes, that still seems expensive - I'll be kicking myself when/if it finally drops any lower. Also just ordered a Captain Antilles minifig from Bricklink.
-
Nice to see the Planet Set pics - thanks guys Most of these are 'must haves' for me but as usual mostly for the figures. I can imagine the white Hoth planet pieces being useful in MOCs and I think we could even expect some innovative use of the (already much hated) asteroid field. I really like the look of the B-Wing Pilot but the inclusion of printed legs on the Snow-speeder Pilot will mean yet more mis-matched figs - curse your excellent design department TLG! The JSF/Kamino set I will buy because I just love to collect those astromechs . My only disappointment is self-inflicted; even after seeing the prelims I was still hoping against hope that Tantive IV would come with Captain Antilles - Bricklink here I come
-
I must admit that your opinion is much more informed than mine as I never actually owned the set . At the time I'd already moved on from Space to Technic and was probably becoming more interested in girls than Lego but I do remember seeing pictures of it and thinking that Lego had lost the plot with 6951.
-
Well, I always thought that when leaked promo pics showed up it was all part of a TLG secret marketing campaign - how wrong was I? It's nice to finally see some pictures even if most of them are of no interest to me. I'm actually pleased that the Winter output will allow me time to finally save some cash for 2012 sets . The AT-RT looks pretty decent imho but as a strictly OT collector I won't buy it. I still feel I need to reserve judgement on the Rancor Pit to see how it looks with Jabbas' Palace on top and although the A-Wing looks pretty sleek, compact and swooshable I'm kind-of indifferent to it - I just don't dig A-Wings. I'll need both of these sets though just for the figures. IMO the Rancor Pit has excellent figs and the A-Wing has me tempted by the Pilot and the more detailed Han Solo torso print
