Most recently I've bought the '66449 3 in 1 Super Pack' on offer from TRU, '3866 Star Wars; The Battle of Hoth' game from Amazon and two May 4th Hoth Han Solo's from eBay.

I remember not being long out of my dark-age and thinking 7657 was an amazing model that would be impossible for Lego to improve upon . I will always have a soft spot for my first AT-ST but I think the one in 8038 was a vast improvement (despite the fact it didn't have a proper pilot ).

Nice Eagles! And some good part usage to create the impression of the outer frame. The Medical version is definitely my favourite - the red stripes just add a nice splash of colour. Space 1999 was possibly the favourite sci-fi show of my youth and I've often considered building an Eagle myself - now I might just copy yours!

I'm sorry if this seems like shameless self promotion, but, I've just tried the Forest Maiden hair on my custom Ewok Village Leia and I think it looks pretty much spot on - even if I do say so myself

Praiter Yed's Star Wars Customs
Praiter Yed replied to Praiter Yed's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Another update to one of my earlier customs. Here I have added my new Leia face decal and a belt to the waist but more importantly a test to see if the new Series 9 Forest Maiden hair works for this fig - and aside from covering up some of the torso details I think it works really well. Perhaps if TLG do release an Ewok Village later this year they will include a Leia with this hair mold. The image on the right has been digitally altered to show brown hair... You need to keep up-to-date The Penguin - this is how all the spies are holding their guns nowadays . But of course, he is only holding his gun in this way to achieve an angle that I am happy with (based on some classic Bond movie posters ). And, cheers.

My Local Asda has some fantastic reductions on Legends of Chima: 70003 Eris' Eagle Interceptor - £14.99 70004 Wakz' Pack Tracker - £14.99 70115 Ultimate Speedor Tournament - £9.99 70102 Chi Waterfall - £7.49 Don't know if these prices are national or just my local store - some tempting ones there but my Lego budget is blown

Here's my take on a face decal for the Sean Connery era Bond. Gun is a Silenced Spy Pistol by Brickarms. C&C welcome... 007 James Bond: From Russia with Love on flickr I hope to add a Thunderball variant soon(ish).

Praiter Yed's Star Wars Customs
Praiter Yed replied to Praiter Yed's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Thanks RoyalBrickCustoms. The hair is the new version which I think is only available in 7965 Millennium Falcon. I was lucky enough to win one in Cop Mikes' 2011 Xmas Raffle . -
Picked up a copy of the The Empire Strikes Out on DVD (the one with a Limited Edition Darth Vader minifig). Didn't even want it, hate the fig, bought it out of fear of regret .

BrickArms Spring 2013 Release
Praiter Yed replied to the enigma that is badger's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
As usual these all look great but again the SW ones are of most interest to me. I really need to get my hands on lots of E-11s, think I'll be visiting minifigforlife very soon.- 19 replies

Praiter Yed's Star Wars Customs
Praiter Yed replied to Praiter Yed's topic in Minifig Customisation Workshop
Finally found a little time to do some minor customising and will hopefully be posting some updates of my earlier figures and one or two new ones soon(ish). This one seems quite topical with the Brickarms release of the E-11 (I thought it was never going to happen ). Here's some Sandtroopers with a Brickarms Lewis Gun & Prototype E-11 they're also wearing pauldrons from Brick Forge which I think work much better than the official cloth versions (it's such a shame they're not available with orange print ). And here's my attempt at a bespoke face decal for Leia - I'd love some C&C on this as I find it very hard designing Lego faces and am never really sure if I've got it right. She also has a modified Brickarms Spy Carbine which I think works well for her Sporting Blaster as seen onboard Tantive IV in Star Wars (aka Episode IV: A New Hope). They say the camera never lies, but the line of the decal you can see at the bottom of her face is not visible to the naked eye (or at least mine ). -
Thanks. I don't have many transparent bricks but I considered a couple of other ways to build this: 1. Using window pieces which would have been very transparent with me having to build the lake bottom, which I didn't want. 2. Using trans 1x1 round plates which you see done a lot and I think could've worked well. In the end I went with bricks and plates in an attempt to mimic the source illustration. Ahh, you must be a purist . Yes, the LOTR swords are nice but the pommel doesn't fit in the minifig hand - so couldn't hold the sword straight up. And thanks. Cheers Wedge09 Thanks. To be fair Lego are providing the prizes so I suppose it's understandable. Thanks. Yes he does look a bit too happy - maybe I should have left his helmet down. I will change the face when I update this. I haven't watched Excalibur for many years but I still think it's the best movie adaptation of Arthurian Legend to date.

Here is a MOC I've entered (or tried to) into the Brick Fanatics CMF Series 9 Diorama Building Contest. I actually have a slight overhang over the 16x16 plate size so will need to alter it to actually enter the competition oops. This is slightly disappointing as I've already made several compromises to my original vision - lets be honest, this crappy CMF sword is not Excalibur - I really wanted to use a Brickarms Claymore. But for now here is the current layout which was very much inspired by Aubrey Beardlsey's illustration from Sir Thomas Malory's Le morte D'Arthur... What did you like? I thought a Sci-Fi contest was due but expected it to be along the lines of 'build a spaceship', so the originality of the brief was really good. What didn't you like? Not getting enough votes . Actually, I agree with Hammerstein NWC, I'm a really slow MOCer and my life is very busy - a month is usually not enough time for me. What could I have done better? Nothing, - pat yourself on the back for a job well done. What do you like better? Trophies or Prizes? or both? IF I'd won something, the prizes would have ended up mixed into my collection straight away. I really appreciate the effort that must have gone in to building the trophies so they would have survived much longer, although ultimately would have suffered the same fate when I needed to pillage them for parts . So, both, I suppose. What other comments do you have for Sci-Fi month ? I also hope there's another one soon or at least another Sci-Fi contest (I need EB to motivate me).

A wonderful Lego representation of Bessie - very accurate if memory serves me well . Your custom figs are also very good - especially (my favourite Doctor) Tom Baker, the Frodo hair works really well but personally I would be tempted to file down the top slightly to make the hat fit better.

I have quite mixed feelings about your Intercepter; on the one hand I feel it needs to be sleeker to match the source material, but on the other hand I do actually like the slightly boxy look. The flat bonnet and sides, wheel arches and the two 2x2 slopes as a windscreen give the whole build a retro Lego feel that imo suits the subject matter. I have no mixed feelings about your custom figs though - they both look great and the Qui-Gon mullet works brilliantly for Max! I look forward to seeing your "more grandiose scene'.

The tail and the breathy bag things are particularly nice and it's cool that you went to the trouble of adding extra detail to the underside. Very organic looking and yeah, a bit scary!

Just ordered a new Biggs Darklighter minifig off Bricklink, I'm considering updating my fleshie custom.
