  1. Try here: www.capes4minifigs.com. I had some Batman capes from them recently and although they're not the same material as Lego capes (different texture on either side) the quality is VERY good.
  2. Seems an odd choice for a May 4th promo fig, obviously ace for EU fans but I can't see it really driving Lego sales - unless there's some amazing special offers (doubtful in the UK) to back it up. I've spent way too much on promo figs recently so if this really is the May 4th fig my wallet will be getting a welcome rest.
  3. Thanks guys, I assumed this topic had died quickly but I'm pleased you like the blood. Oddly I tend to think that I don't like bloody MOCs but often end up making them, . Although there's no blood in the source material I felt that Lego is so innocent that I needed to bloody it up to reflect the darkness of the illustration. I recently re-did this version for my own amusement... The Dark Tower has lots of pop-culture references throughout so I thought this would be fun. I've vaguely listed the reasons these characters died in my flickr.
  4. Decided to check out Tesco Warrington on my way to work, looked like all the best bargains had been cleared at the weekend . Still some Chima on sale and loads of Duel on Geonosis but only reduced to £30 - not low enough for me. I'm going to scout out B&M next. Edit: B&M had 70703 Star Slicer for £17.99, 70702 Warp Stinger for £7.99! and the Chima game (not priced up), sadly no Batman games - thanks for the tip escortmad79, I've never seen Lego in B&M before!
  5. Recently bought Death Star Troopers Battle Pack and Star Destroyer, X-Wing, Millennium Falcon and 2 x AAT (for the lovely tan pieces) Microfighters.
  6. Took the kids to see the Lego Movie - I thought it was very well animated but also very boring. To be fair, it made me laugh about five times so it wasn't as bad as I expected and the Kids loved it, and that's what counts.
  7. Very well done! Such a shame the film wasn't up to the quality of this model
  8. I thought the film was very poor but this is a great MOC! I particularly like the truck and the car but also Matt Damon's Exo-Skeleton (is that the right phrase/description?) is brilliant, especially at this scale
  9. I'm not sure whether this belongs here or History or Special Themes, I suppose it's in the hands of the Mods now. I've decided to post here as I feel that the source material is predominately sci-fi. For those who don't know, Stephen King's Dark Tower Series is set in a post apocalyptic parallel world and involves many sci-fi tropes such as travel between dimensions, genetic mutation, cybernetic organisms, robots and if that's not enough, there's also a monorail!.. None of which is featured in this vignette these vignettes. My second Gunslinger vignette is from the start of the book: The man in black fled across the desert, and the gunslinger followed on flickr My first vignette is inspired by Michael Whelan's illustration 'The Dead Town' from Stephen King's Dark Tower Part 1: The Gunslinger... Massacre of Tull on flickr I hope to do more Dark Tower MOCs eventually. C&C welcome.
  10. In addition to the SW Microfighters 'ASDA price' of £7, my Local ASDA had 75029 AAT at £3.50 & 75031 Tie Interceptor at £5. They also had two Chima Legend Beasts, Wolf & Gorilla at £3.50 each and Ninjago 70720 Hover Hunter at £4.50. I've no idea if these reductions are nationwide but my Local ASDA only stocks small sets so I'm planning a trip to one near work to see if there's anything more exciting on offer.
  11. I'd written off GOTG as soon as I learned anything about it, I mean how can you take a gun-toting racoon and an action tree serioulsy? Seeing the trailer makes me think it could be good. If this gets a PG rating I'll probably take my boy to watch it but if it ends up a 12, I'll wait for the DVD. As for the humour in the trailer, the fact that it doesn't seem to take itself too seriously is the reason I now feel I can take it seriously .)
  12. Yes, I meant Wednesday - all I've been thinking all day is thank %&$@ it's Friday and it's the weekend hence my confusion. Good job I decided to add the picture though
  13. Noticed that my local ASDA are having a Build A Lego Minifigure (BALM?) event next Friday - I presume it's a nationwide. I wonder if a 'Free Lego gift for everyone' means kids and their parents
  14. I received my Star Wars figures at the weekend, I'd sort of forgotten about them which made it an even nicer surprise. Thanks CopMike
  15. I've been considering buying the minifigs from the UCS SSD - but I started to wonder whether Lego might use the printed IG-88 heads as 'optics' behind the bar of the Cantina (they reused the bar props in ESB to make IG-88's head). It doesn't look like it on the prelims but that doesn't really make it less likely and if you think about it, it sounds like one of those fun little nods to the films that TLG like to include in sets. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that this happens.
  16. Peter Capaldi's costume is revealed. I laughed when I saw it, perhaps because the image made him look a bit like a magician (which made me think about the ) but I think I like it. Can't wait to see the new Doctor in action, hopefully they'll give him some good stories.
  17. Jabba's Sail Barge is £63.01 and Rancor Pit is £40.07 on Amazon UK Also if you're willing to shop further afield , Tantive IV & Alderaan and B-Wing & Endor planet sets are both €8.20 on amazon.de the postage very reasonable on these especially if you order more than one (I ordered some and they were posted from Fife!).
  18. Because he's a purveyor of intoxicating liquor and (probably) drugs. I don't feel like this discussion has been off topic but you're right Fives, it could go that way. Check out this topic on Lego's stance on Moral Issues.
  19. No need to apologise for chuckling - I doubt Greedo indulged in any Charlie, he'd need to keep his mind on the job plus with that nose... However, there's definitely a scene where somebody is smoking some kind of hookah in the cantina and with Mos Eisley being such a haven for scum and villainy I doubt whatever they were smoking was entirely innocent. Also, I'm no prude, I wouldn't have any problem with my kids acting out mailings and manslaughters in the cantina, I'd probably join them, I'm simply pointing out that depicting (or encouraging kids to act out) too much criminality is probably something TLG need to consider before releasing a set. Lets face it some people just love to complain about such things and I doubt Lego would want to risk that kind of bad press. Personally I'd love to have Ponda Baba, Doctor Evazan and Wuher but I think it's highly unlikely thet we'll get them from TLG.
  20. It wasn't a criticism, and I was half joking so perhaps I should have used this . BUT I wouldn't be surprised if that's something TLG need to take into account when producing a set like this. Don't forget that unlike the other events you have mentioned, these criminal acts take place in an environment depicting the drinking of intoxicating liquor and drug use.
  21. Ha ha, along with Vader, Hammerhead was the only other Kenner figure I owned as a child, which is why I'll need to either BL or buy the set with that Hammerhead Jedi dude in it (I'm sure it's a coincidence that that particular mold gets released at the same time as the cantina). Ever since this conversation began I've been thinking that Ponda Baba would be an unlikely addition to the Cantina - how many parents are going to want to buy their kids a toy that they can reenact an old wizard maiming some guy (GBH) and a space pirate committing manslaughter with?
  22. Thanks for the very nice pictorial review . I actually like the idea of these sets, I think they're loads of fun. Seems to me that these could be Lego's answer to Playskool's Jedi Force Characters, or Hasbro's Pods. The only thing that really bothers me about this particular model is that I find the huge underbelly of the X-Wing looks a bit awkward. However, despite generally being a fan of more detailed minifig printing, in this instance I must agree with Mr Man - the detailed print on this character is a step too far imo. Even though these Microfighters are reasonably priced, I'd only buy this particular model if it's on special offer - I'd solely be buying it for the Pilot's Helmet and R2 head.
  23. After my post yesterday I decided to ask a mate in Köln whether he could pick up a 75009 Snowspeeder and Hoth from the Lego store. Just had an email to say he's got one, and for only €9! I'm proper chuffed about this . I've found it quite frustrating that the Series 4 Planets (imho the best series) has been so damn hard to get hold of.
  24. Most recently I bought 75005 Rancor Pit & 75015 Corporate Alliance Tank Droid - some nice parts I was after in that one and at half price, I couldn't resist. I've just ordered 1 x 75011 Tantive IV & Alderaan and 4 x 75010 B-Wing & Endor from amazon.de at just over €8 each and only around £4 postage to the UK I thought it was worth it, especially as S@H seems to have sold out of the B-Wing. I desperately need the Snowspeeder and Hoth now!
  25. That's a Beaut-E Seriously, you've really caught the essence of the character.
