A while back (almost a year ago ) I designed this little thing for the Wonders of Historica line: You see, you don't necessarily need the sigils, shields or whatnot. In this case the colors totally do the job..

All contest long I wanted to build a podracer.. Finally the time had come - and whose pod was cooler than Sebulbas? I guess I don’t need to say much more.. ;) I tried to keep the Steampunk bits in line with the vehicle and I guess it worked quite well.. I tried to add as many details as possible - it features flames in the exhausts, the saw that Sebulba can extend, all the lattices and lines on the wings, etc. This is a part of a collaboration with Legopard who is running for 3rd place. See his Tatoosteam together with my podracer in Skaerbaek! Apologies for the very very late post (as I'm writing this the deadline for posting ends in 20min). This is my most unstable model until now which made photographing it a nightmare! It broke like 25 times (had to totally rebuild the wings twice while photographing), then Photoshop screwed up two hours of editing and erased the shots I did yesterday. Now I took pictures again this morning - I’m still not satisfied but they have to do.. In the first image the gold thing between the wings is missing as it broke and I forgot to attach it. Sorry for that! Second image showing the segments side by side: Finally I'd like to thank fbtb for this amazing contest. I never imagined that I would make it to the final! I won’t win this one I guess as Markus just outdid himself with his Falcon but I enjoyed building for it anyway. Thanks for organising this Steampunk madness, thanks for all those who participated and made it such a challenge and thanks to those who voted and left great feedback in the various forums! Finally: Thanks to my brother in arms Legopard / Jonas who helped tremendously at every stage! Fingers crossed for your duel! Thanks for watching, looking forward to your feedback! Detailed shots whenever I'm calm and relaxed when looking at the model - might take a while Markus

Book II - Avalonia: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Rolli replied to Rogue Angel's topic in Guilds of Historica
Seriously? A legion of undead warriors? Talk about a compensation problem! Balls of steel don't need no protection! But they love tights. Avalonian tights! -

I thought that was initiated by some hotheaded sandman as a campaign for the dry and deserted Kaliphin? -

// Sir Moriartus is not amused at all.. He looks grumpy, his black beard is making waves and his eyes are flashing with determination.// "Guys.. We seriously have to work on our image! There has to be an advertising guild somewhere in Avalonia.. We need to paint some banners and shields and do some campaigning to take care of this discussion once and for all! I'm not the only one who doesn't wear tights but I love hugging my trees, give them some love! (Also they are great for tickling my beard :P) Any ideas? I'm opening a shop the next days, we need to get behind this! Our brains are neither frozen nor melted nor evaporated due to some necromancy going wrong so let's show the other guilds and newcomers alike how great we truly are!" (Finally some decent trash talk again - and I actually like the idea of the Avalonian advertising agency - does Tripple A sound good? A³? Input?) -
REVIEW: 71007 LEGO Collectable Minifigures Series 12
Rolli replied to WhiteFang's topic in Special LEGO Themes
Same with the video on my side, must be German thing. Did you use music that us copyrighted? Amazing review, as usual. You never disappoint, dear friend, thank you! Figurewise this series is above average and I'm looking forward to open my own box in about 4 weeks :) My favorites are the Hun (love the horns and the new cape) and the magician. The spooky girl is very detailed and I like it but it doesn't fit my building style sadly.- 156 replies

Maersk blue, by far! Yellowish green is also quite beautiful even though not really usable due to the limited part selection as of now and I'm growing more and more fond of dark green, dark orange and pear gold (yes indeed). For versatility the basic tan is amazing - so many parts available in this color and at the same time it is presentable.

There is a very similar part to the one that Vincent posted - without those pins: Vehicle, Tipper End Flat without Pins I guess thats the one you are looking for.

Great build, all around! As kabel stated the dark green is beautiful! I really like all the little details such as the wood block with the axe stuck inside! The only thing that I don't really like are the hatches in front of the windows.. They somehow obscure them in a bad way, I can't really name it. Other than that a fabulous build! Oh, and I love the base with its rounded corners and the small slope all around! Great touch!

Oh, Gideon used my words! I was about to use "impressive beast" as well, dang! But, seriously: I really like it. You achieved a great shape for the wings which is not easy at all and the creature overall looks very believable! As others already stated, the tail could use some improvements regarding thickness and personally I'm not really fond of the saddle. Looks like a comfortable arm chair without the back which doesn't really fit in my opinion. Other than that: Impressive (and I might quote myself and others with that )

Book II - Kaliphlin: Guild sign-up and Discussion
Rolli replied to SkaForHire's topic in Guilds of Historica
Finally someone noted it. But hey.. with a preparation like that it has to be a winner! -
Don't worry! I really like that you're sharing your thoughts. We can only improve if we get criticized or if we share the different opinions! I tried swapping the white hinge for a blue one but it didn't work out unfortunately. The blue is too different from the icy feel I'd like to convey (and I won't spend 15€ on maersk blue hinges as there are no medium blue ones). Furthermore it kills the contrast the iris had with the white hinge brick. I think I will leave the eye as it is until Lego brings out that part in trans medium blue

Lovely build with great techniques as usual! I'm always stunned how you incorporate those big pieces so easily and seamlessly into your builds One question though: You built such a big thing for phase 2 of your mill, I totally expected phase 3 to be in the same diorama, especially since the mill was open on one side and featured just one story. Whats the reason you decided against further evolving that one?

[MOC] Steampunk AT-AT: The All Terrain Aristocratic Traveler
Rolli replied to Rolli's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thank you! I'm honored! I'd also like to thank you for the lengthy and detailed comment, you don't see them too often! Really appreciate it! Also: Great suggestions! The driver exit is just not doable with the techniques I used so I decided against it. The idea with the stars is actually a good one. I might even add them until I will display the AT-AT in Skaerbaek in 4 weeks.. -

Yeah, Photoshop is obviously the best of the bunch. I have been using it for the past ten years and it gets better every year. Gimp is the best open source option in my opinion and paint.net isn't bad either. Haven't used it in years though but the first versions were already quite powerful if I remember correctly. Give Photoshop a try, it is really really powerful. Maybe they make newer versions free in the future, too. You can do a lot with CS2 already though. Also it became quite cheap in the last year, you can get the newest version for 10€ / 10$ per month should you consider serious usage that justifies paying for it. If you have any questions I guess there are quite a few other members that are very knowledgable but if I can be of service, feel free to message me! -
Great beast! I'm totally in love with the head The bricks used seem so obvious yet I would never have used them in this combination.. I need to remember this for future builds, thanks for showing! One technical question though.. The black bar on the head: 3 studs long or is it a cut flex tube?

[MOC] Steampirate Kenobi's Airship (with Steam Sailing Booster 4.0
Rolli replied to Rolli's topic in LEGO Star Wars
Thanks for the feedback, everyone! I'm glad you like this different take on the steampunk genre! Wasn't too sure if it wasn't a bit over the top ;) Looking forward to the results tomorrow morning - I hope everybody voted for his or her favorite moc! -
Thats a great idea, thank you! Its actually just a normal hinge brick I used there. Will try it with a blue one or even a medium blue one if I have any. Thanks for the suggestion. I actually tried that. It didn't work though as those arms are marginally bigger than normal clips and they won't fit the skeleton arms then. The white arms are a substitute I'm not entirely happy with but its the best solution I was able to think of. Finally: Thank you guys for the awesome feedback! Its definitely encouraging!

Mortax the Icebreather was supposed to be dead. The last time someone actually spoke about him was centuries ago. A scroll mentioned that he had been slayed by seven Historican champions that finally ended his cruelties in Mitgardia. But that has been long forgotten.. Lately the whispers of him started again. One claimed seeing him exiting a cave near the Aneler River. Another one insisted that he saw his shape in one of the harsh snow storms. The tales say that a skeletal body is sitting on his back though nobody knows if this is true or just another tale. Lets hope that he is still sleeping in his lair underneath one of the many mountains of Mitgardia. Or better: That he stays dead. Long forgotten, awake again? Still sleeping in his lair or already ravaging Mitgardia? Soon we will know.. This is a small teaser for a collaboration I'm working on. Comments and critique are appreciated, let me hear what you think! Best Markus

"Ahoy, landlubber! Lookin' for a vessel that be worthy o' one o' t' most famous steampirates out thar? T' one that chased bounty hunters, fought four-armed machines and would later train a new era o' rebellious pirates? The honorable Captain Kenobi? Arrr! Look no further, as this airship has it all: Canons, sails, t' smartlyest Steam Sailin' Booster that be out thar (sportin' four turbines) plus enough crates and chests t' store all t' loot that you can find in between Kamino and Coruscant. A state-of t' art steam engine as well as t' famous golden astromech are also on board - off, raid some of those Separatists!" Presenting my entry for the current round of fbtb's Moc Madness! As usual I went a different route and tried to be more creative than just turning original starfighters brown. I mashed up Steampunk and pirates and Obi-Wan Kenobi is right there in the center of all of this. Who wouldn’t love him as a pirate? At least thats what I thought when I was pondering about this creation. I hope you like this different approach to the topic! Comments and critique are as usual appreciated. Best of luck to the three remaining contestants, I’m honored to have reached this semi-final and I'm looking forward to the next challenge - be it competing for 1st or 3rd place! A couple of detail pictures - I apologize for the sloppy editing, time was running out: Have a nice day! Markus
