  1. Nice little vignette with some great ideas there, I really like it! Love the "peaking through" moment as it adds so much it and the multiple minifig thing is really well done! Keep up the great work!
  2. Nothing specific I think. But the thing is: Avalonia - and GoH for that matter - is what you make of it. We have a border to Mitgardia, I don't see why there shouldn't be snow. Or you just send some of your troops into Mitgardia, visiting someone or doing whatever, creating a storyline of your own or collaborating with some of the Mitgardian guys. Also the next challenge is going to be set in Mitgardia so you'll have snow and more there. Feel free to explore, to create, to join and be part of this community now that you have time for it
  3. Gosh, this is amazing! Great work, all around! Really love how you did all the different textures and that its packed with details! What did you use as substructure of the katanas so that they are not falling apart because of their length & weight? Keep amazing us with your sculptures!
  4. It did, I guess. The guys on reddit treated it with close to 1.400 points which seems to be quite something. Never expected it.. And from there it got to Facebook and whatever..
  5. Thanks for the comments! Indeed, I will, along with the AT-AT and anything else that I might build in future rounds
  6. Thanks for the kind words, guys, really appreciated it! No, unfortunately not. I needed to hide the frame and the supports somewhere I think I might put that quote on my wall - and yay, somebody noticed Thats exactly what I had in mind. I already did the same with my entry in the round before and loved the style so much that I wanted to do more. Classy steampunk for the win! I will try my best, Sir! Thanks!
  7. The All Terrain Aristocratic Traveler The next round in the Moc Madness over on fbtb was walkers. I hereby proudly present the work of three days of madness, very little sleep and one crazy idea that started everything: What if someone mashed up AT-ATs with the Orient Express? "You want to visit Hoth without getting your feet cold? You’d like to watch Banthas on Tatooine but hate the idea of sand on your cloths? You want to travel in luxury and style? Wait no further and visit one of our travel agencies and book your amazing journey on one of our AT-ATs. Luxury travel on 4 feet!“ Decided to also produce a leaflet with some detail shots showcasing the interior. Might went a bit overboard but what the heck (view it on flickr for a better quality): Thanks for viewing and best of luck to all the other seven remaining contestants! Looking forward to some amazing builds - may the steam be with you! Markus
  8. Presenting the Royal XJ-6 Steamspeeder! Built for the Sweet Sixteen bracket of the MOC Madness 2014: Steam Wars Returns over on fbtb.net. For the second round I wanted to try something different: Ditching the crude metal and gnarled wood look you usually see while moving to something classy and stylish. The finished speeder reminds me of the looks of sportscars from the 1940s such as the Bugatti Type 57. Goes perfectly with Legopard’s Victorian Bountyhunter for some serious swooshing and chasing! 9. Thanks guys for all the kind words! Thank you, very nice of you! And finally someone else who uses pinterest! :)
  10. I finally got around taking images of my model and posting it here: Frauenkirche Dresden - Architecture Style
  11. Hi all! About 6 weeks ago the 10th Eurobricks Event took place and with it a little Architecture competition was held: One had to build and bring a sight from his home country. I chose to build the Frauenkirche in Dresden, a church that is well-known but also has some complicated features that offered a little challenge. It was destroyed during World War II and famously rebuilt after the reunification of Germany, finishing in 2005 and now probably being the most famous church in the northeast of Germany. I always loved it for its geometry and history and when I visited Dresden a couple of years ago I was quite taken by it which made the choice easy. This was the first MOC for which I used the help of virtual bricks to recreate the shape and the angles in the most exact way possible. It was quite a challenge for me as I never used anything like it before but I soon realised that for things like this it is way more effective than actually sitting in front of a pile of bricks. It was also the only option to actually get something done as I had no bricks at hand at all until I would fly home to Germany a week before the event. Therefor I spent the 4 weeks before my flight stacking bricks inside my Mac, slowly improving the MOC by using all the possible reference material I was able to require, making use of photographs, scale models, architectural drawings and even Google Earth. Once finished I suddenly realised that out of the roughly 3000 parts that I used in the model about 200 weren't in production and another 40 would cost me as much as the rest of the parts (who would have known the rarity of travis bricks in tan??) For example I had used 1x2 curved slopes as they recreated the shape of the dome perfectly and 1x3 tiles in tan as well, both parts that were never made.. In the end I was able to get around all that and ordered everything necessary, finally having time for stuff like exams or hand-ins for college In the end it took take me another week at home to eventually finish the model. Front: Back: The real thing - not my photo: This build won me a first place in the Architecture competition and a rather lovely Marina Bay Sands Many thanks to CopMike and Bonaparte for organising the event and the competition, to Whitefang for bringing the prize over, to Aredhel and Legopard for some helpful criticism and to all the eventees that made the evening such a great one and the competition so strong! I would never have thought to win this one after seeing all the other amazing entries. Please consider checking them out in this nice summary! Other entrees that were posted already: Bryggen by L@go Cologne Cathedral by Aredhel Holmenkollbakken by Cecilie Royal Albert Hall by Rufus & Pandora Water Tower by Redhead1982 I hope you like it. Comments and critique are of course appreciated. Thanks for your time!
  12. I'm guessing 1x4 panels turned sideways that are just resting on top of each other without clutch.
  13. There's a reason why Sir Moriartus turned to you, thank you for your aid in these harsh times..! Great build as usual and loaded with excellent techniques. Great combination of colours, the inverted rock work is nice and the tower works very well. As mccoyed pointed out the realism and the details totally make it. The swan is top-notch as I already told you. Looking forward to more GoH builds from you!
  14. Actually I have to disagree. Please see this as constructive criticism and not as a megablocks rant as this is not my style at all! I don't like the new / current map at all. Its too pixelated, the colors are too cartoonish and not working together, the forests look strange, etc.. I really feel that Avalonia should have a proper and beautiful map that represents its glory. I would gladly create a new one if thats okay for you guys. I already reworked the Albion map and I could do the same with this one. Let me know what you think.. On a much happier note: I'll be back building starting on Monday! I have a lot planned for the next months :) (Its the time again to showcase some more cheese! )
  15. Welcome to Avalonia! Glad to see some new faces!
  16. Pictures have to wait until I'm home again. I'm back to Ireland now for two weeks for exams and stuff..
  17. Hooray - let's start the witch hunt! :D I didn't have a chance yet to inspect the beautiful content of my garbage bag so nothing on my side ;)
  18. I can only repeat what all of you already said: Such a smooth and awesome event - so many thanks to CopMike, Bonaparte, Kim and all of you lovely people that made the event as special as it was. We just made it home half an hour ago, shocked my sister and my dad with the amount of boxes we were able to fit in the car and are now trying not to think of the chaos of sorting / building that is ahead.. Kind regards also from my mom, many thanks from her for receiving her so well, she was still excited on the way back! (I think I can convince her to join and post her architecture model here ) I'll take care of sending out the huskies that have been forgotten ( ) and will create an inventory of the PaB in the Legoland and will it make available for you guys "to order" the next days - but for now lets head to bed and dream of Lego and the past days
  19. Really nice vignette! Love the three very different levels with their nice details! Looking forward to more of your builds!
  20. According to Bricklink, it contains 10 extra parts. EDIT: Quarryman was faster, sorry, overread it when I was checking it the first time!
  21. *sigh* Too late, again. No points for me today ( ) as I'll be busy raiding the German Legoland for you guys! By the way... Is it a coincidence that the surface of Mr. Miniland Holodoc's shield is made from exactly 10 tiles?
  22. Two for my mom, please! Thanks :)
  23. It also features two minifigs that are made up from 10 parts (the two big Trolls).
  24. I get the slight feeling that someone in Slovenia is not getting any sleep the next 8 days.. I was still sleeping at 4:39 in the morning - just as normal people tend to do! Anyway.. Lovely points as usual! *Off to packing my bags to fly home tonight* Not if you use brickset as your source (or the Lego S@H website for that matter)
