  1. Thank you! I used six mechanical arms that are put into the holes of the technic wheel(s). Then there is a cone on top of that to round it off. The blue engine glow effect was done in Photoshop to make it more immersive. If you are however referring to the red circular piece between the two technic wheels, this will help you. The rest is a funny array of droid arms wedged into the side of the wheels, steering handles and some other clutter. Hope I was able to help you!
  2. Thanks :)
  3. Cecilie, this is a stunning model that shows off the variety of Episode VII in an exciting new way! I love that you turned it into a TT Games LEGO Star Wars game! Cool layout, btw. Your vignettes are stunning, I especially love the X-Wing (D'oh!) and the forest levels Both convey the feel of the scenes amazingly well and that sundown is simply jaw-dropping. Not to say that that AT-AT, the hangar or the question mark are less cool Very well done and best of luck with the contest!
  4. Thanks! Thats a Tauntaun bridle.
  5. V-Galactic Racing: Scarlet Hare 20X by rolli A couple of weeks ago I posted my Crimson Hornet 3000, part of the fictitious space racing game V-Galactic Racing: Now I 'unlocked' the second racer: Crazy angles and a ton of flaps make the Scarlet Hare 20X incredibly agile and a good choice for the difficult asteroid tracks! As I mentioned when posting the first racer: I will add more racers in the coming months, whenever I feel like I need to build one or need another break - after all I need to unlock them all This time I just felt like building something inorganic and angled. Looking forward to what you think - let me know! Best Markus
  6. Yep. They need to be that big since they are covering up the mixel hinges underneath. They look great in person though, the right knee on the photo just looks really extreme at this angle. Thank you all for the great feedback! I was blown away by the reactions I received for Hook! Best Markus
  7. I'll be there as usual, albeit not with GoH stuff.
  8. Captain Hook by Rolli, on Flickr "Allow me? I am Captain James Bartholomew Hook, world's most famous crook - captain of the fine mighty Jolly Roger and its crew, honorable pirate, finder of many treasures and killer of the Croco... Okay, who am I kidding.." For some reason, Disney's Captain Hook was always a favorite of mine. Not really evil, clumsy and funny at times, having his own nemesis in the shape of a comical crocodile - and always being outwitted by Peter Pan. Or clumsy Mr. Smee. Long story short: I had to build him - in this iconic pose, including the crocodile. It was great fun and a challenge to build at this scale, especially with those limiting colors (I'm talking to you, magenta!). A pirate contest on the Norwegian forum Brikkelauget"]http://brikkelauget....o"]Brikkelauget provided me with the perfect opportunity so it had to be done :D Looking forward to hearing what you think and if you like Mr. Hook! Best Markus
  9. Thanks for the interest - what I did in Photoshop is basically what bublible noted. I started out extracting the model from a background, colour correction and all the basic stuff was done in RAW beforehand. I added the motion blur stuff and the turbine glows. Then I placed in a couple of boxes and text and a background image and applied different layer modes, layer styles as well as motion blur filters to them. All the fonts have a motion blur applied to them, for example. Topping it off is some colour correction and a Nebula photo to get some cohesion and stars. I ended up with a ton of different layers so I can't really dissect it that much, also due to the fact that it involved lots of experimentation. I'm a UI designer by trade so I don't usually do swooshy scifi game design. I guess you can't really explain too much and its quite fun to try it yourself. Photoshop can use Vectors btw, too, I use them all the time. I never quite got along with Fireworks. Back to topic, then?
  10. You just totally floored me with this, Cecilie. Totally amazing and well beyond what anyone expected from the first round of this contest. Great details on the speeders and a totally rad but awesome setup. I really love the first image! Well done!
  11. V-Galactic Racing: Crimson Hornet 3000 by rolli One of these rare quick builds, an evening long, just there to distract me from other projects. I wanted to build some sci-fi for a change - think Formula 1 in space and in the far future. Obviously this needs to be a game so I came up with the whole screen design which - fun fact - took me longer than building. I will add more racers in the coming months, whenever I feel like I need to build one or need another break - after all I need to unlock them all Looking forward to what you think - let me know! Best Markus
  12. Thanks for the input. I do my architecture builds on those tiled but otherwise empty baseplates as it makes the building stand out, plus I like how it looks. I do hear you though. One of my future projects will be placing the church into its surrounding and making some other Venetian sights and buildings to sooner or later create an architecture scale Venice.
  13. True Venice has like 110 islands in total or something. (and we are totally not nerding about Venice here!)
  14. No, the Santa Maria della Salute is right opposite St. Marks square on the Grand Canale. You probably meant the Church of San Giorgio Maggiore with its campanile-like bell tower which is a lesser known church and lacks those fancy domes and ornate decoration. Thats the Santa Maria della Salute photographed from the Grand Canal (St. Marks square would be behind those houses on the left on the picture). Another picture:
  15. It is awesome! I really like its comical design, plus the Bowser head is amazing. It works really well for displaying all your Koopalings together
  16. Hi there! Ever since I built the Frauenkirche Dresden last year I was hooked on Architecture scale. This year I wanted to push the limits that this scale creates even further. When I visited friends for their event in Norway I wanted to show something new next to my old church and settled on the Santa Maria della Salute, an iconic church from Venice, Italy. I spent so many summer vacations in Italy and almost every year we would venture into Venice - this church surely left a lasting impression. Santa Maria della Salute, Venice by Markus, auf Flickr This also won me a nomination for Best Small Building at Brickworld 2015 :) We're heading back to Europe today though :( What do you think? Also, any thoughts on the presentation? Best Markus
  17. Cobalt Griffin Gen XV by Rolli, auf Flickr The Cobalt Griffin is a dual pilot attack ship, fully equipped with dual adamantium cannons, carbon fins for precise steering and a state-of-the-art cockpit with heads-up displays and more. Better lay low when this orange and dark blue fighter shows up! Yeah, space! Built for a Brickworld collab - and my first time building proper space. What do you think? Looking forward to your comments!
  18. Wooo! It was a small but awesome event
  19. Congratulations!
  20. This is going to be awesome! Just packed my luggage (2 suitcases plus bags - Event sets, shirts, etc are making this slightly inconvenient..) and I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone tomorrow! Safe travels!
  21. Indeed! Thats my job! I'll guess 9 and... 5. Incredibly hard though as they are all equally good! Thanks, Holodoc, for another awesome countdown!
  22. I think you're suffering from a lack of creativity Chima? Pah!
  23. All your guesses are boring! I am going with something more creative and guessing "Collectable Minifigs". I hope you'll deliver, Holodoc!
  24. Woo, more points! I have to think about this... I'd love something crazy for sure - anybody thought of doing Primo, Jack Stone or Galidor? (<- no official guesses, just having fun!) Honestly there are too many awesome LEGO themes... EDIT: Holodoc, can you please do the same (AWESOME!) contest theme next year? Please?
