  1. Being modern times, they would feel obligated to name those knights. I reckon they should go with Cole, Jay, Kai & Zane. The thing is, TLG don't use the term Action theme. That is an AFOL invention. However, on S@H Nexo Knights sets were NOT listed under the Castle category when both existed.
  2. I dream about this sort of thing
  3. Pleasant build. I like the white-water effect
  4. Well actually I was mostly just lumping it in with a statement about Friends, however I don't just consider how big a wave is, but also the ongoing aspect of a theme when I consider how "big" a theme is. That's why I pulled out of Ninjago early, it's just gone on and on with heaps of sets and new characters year after year. Friends is a similar sort of thing. With Elves, there aren't a lot of sets but it seems to me that it will keep going on for a while, and they've started the "collect all dragons" thing again. That said I have had a look at the sets and picked a few out, and if not for the fact that it sold out before I got to it, I'd have bought Skyra's castle last week when Kmart clearanced it.
  5. Such a bizarre construction, and your rendition captures all of the shapes so well. Incredible effort.
  6. As far as I'm concerned, there is not much being released this year that appeals to me. I prefer a traditional/medieval style of Castle sets so NK is mostly (very) disappointing for me. There's no Space theme happening these days, Ninjago is too big (I was into it at the start) and City has never really interested me so the only theme I'm really paying any attention to (I tend to avoid licenced themes if possible) is Star Wars, some of which is Space-y. The minidoll lines (particularly Elves) are nice but too big for me to get into without creating a new wallet/storage space issue. I just wish that Elves had been the new Castle line... For me 2016 is disappointing, but cheaper!
  7. That's very nicely done, with a very difficult shape to recreate. Great first post.
  8. Batman Bridge The Batman Bridge is the only bridge crossing the Tamar River, which is a 70km tidal saltwater estuary. It is named for John Batman who was a co-founder of Melbourne in the 1830s. Completed in 1968, this steel-decked bridge was the first cable-stayed bridge in Australia. The full length is 442m and the main span of 206m is suspended from a 100m high A-frame tower on solid dolerite on the west bank. The east bank is only soft clay, so steel piers are built on piles driven up to 18m deep, holding the road up until it reaches the causeway. All this is necessary to allow the 29m clearance below for ships. Quite a feat of engineering! To recreate this in Lego as an Architecture set requires a lot of poetic licence regarding relative scale (sadly), number of supports & cables. So this version is much shorter & wider than a true accurate model would be. And I wondered why no Architecture sets had been made of bridges... and it's no wonder how huge the expert Tower Bridge set is. I hope you like this little rendition of a very interesting contruction, it was fun despite the repeated running-out-of-parts-in-the-necessary-colour problem (what can I do instead?) that I'm sure we all have at times. More (and bigger) photos in the Flickr album. Finally, a bonus photo from google of a view I've never seen before today - wow:
  9. Trying hard to get this finished & photographed in time... a question about the "midnight" definition: do you define midnight GMT on the 3rd as either a) 10am AEST on the 3rd or b) 10am AEST on the 4th? (ie is midnight at the start of the day or at the end of it, since on various occasions I have been given both responses by adamant learned people) Do I need to submit by (my time) Sunday morning or Monday morning?
  10. Do you have the original Ideas set to compare it with? I'm curious to see them together. Not sure if I want this one yet, it's more expensive than the other was.
  11. Classic Castle knight promo set is available with $45 purchases on S@H until next Saturday (9th) unless it runs out first. Nexo knight King's Guard box with Nexo set purchase, same time frame. A ploy to get us old-school fans into the new (contentious) stuff. New Ghostbusters Ecto set is now available for $99.99
  12. It's as I expected, but so soon? If it's discounted 20% I'm happy, otherwise I don't know how well it'll sell. 50% off the 2nd item at Myer until Sunday. Does not stack with the 20% off. Forgot to check if the exclusive sets are included in the offer.
  13. Well yes, it is, if by "spoil" you don't mean "ruin" but rather "taint" - ie taking a blank sheet and putting something on it. That's what a spoiler is, and a "major spoiler" is usually what people get stroppy about
  14. TFA, CW, Rebels, PT, OT Lego sets are not spoilers for Rogue One. Rogue One set/minifig pictures are spoilers for Rogue One, and talking about the movie content (be it plot, character, faction, vehicle, troop variant whatever) is even more so - even though it may be in regard to the Lego sets/minifigs (and to be in this thread it HAS to). If I was not into SW Lego I could go to the movie knowing nothing but the title and a brief glance at a poster - not even cast. I don't even watch promotional preview videos (I believe the current popular-albeit-nonsensical term is "trailer"). But the hobby dictates - I must buy buy buy all of the Lego until the world has ended , so I see the Lego photos while trying to avoid any character or plot points that could be inferred. Just saying that it would be nice to keep it down to that somehow (and there are plenty of others who feel the same, and those who would like to take it even further), and still be up to date with things like the new Death Star and any other new sets from the first sentence. If the staff want to separate the topics or impose spoiler tags that could be helpful, otherwise they'll just suggest the use and tell us to be nice (which guarantees that most will be nice regardless of their tag use, many will refuse/forget to use tags and some will be jerks about it, because "Internet" ).
  15. I would be incredibly grateful if we could find out about and discuss the Lego sets not relevant to Rogue One (ie most of them) without having to read movie spoilers. This is going to happen every year for the foreseeable future. We're still 6 months away from movie release - that's a long time to not read this important thread, and Star Wars is the only current theme I'm interested in (not that that matters).
  16. That was the first thing I thought of when I saw that pic. And those orange bricks too.
  17. I like this bit: "We’re lowering our prices to sell volume."
  18. Did anyone report the details for the Myer sale that's currently on? Well it's blanket 20% on all Lego unless it's exclusive to Myer (boo). That's... big. On a positive note, hopefully they have a huge clearance on everything.
  19. The helmet should be dark grey! Still, pretty good.
  20. Another shortish one: Christopher Lee was The Man With The Golden Gun, and Count Dooku in Star Wars. Simon Pegg was Unkar Plutt in Star Wars and Scotty in Star Trek.
  21. Latest one: I bought some new set (it wasn't a modular, but it may have been another Creator set) and the brick separator was dark purple, even though the inventory showed an orange one. I thought that was pretty cool... Until 10 minutes ago when I realised it had been a dream
