You know what else is depressing? The rearing horse has been released in ONE (Scooby Doo) set since 2014. That's disturbing to me. One of the high points of Castle 2013 was the use of the (new at the time) horse with new barding & helmets, and it looks like we may not be getting any more in the near future.

That one is pretty funny, in a good way. It's a good moc, even if it's not a good Idea's project. But I am loving the blog shared last week, every day has a new terrible submission.

The ship design itself isn't bad, but the colours aren't attractive for me. Ahsoka looks okay, but the lightsabres should be white. Why introduce a new blue colour that's wrong? Weird, hopefully it was just a mistake for the photos. If not, I hope the darker blue becomes more common because it fits the cartoon series' better. Sato is fine, not great, but a tick in that box. Chopper? Hasn't been around for a bit so that's okay. Ezra again? Would be alright if the skin colour was fixed or the scars included but that isn't the case so that's a cross in that box. Kallus? Huh? Big big bad cross in that box, should've been a yet unmade inquisitor (everyone is saying 7th Sister, and why not) if it wasn't going to be just a generic rebel or mook. Over all, I am undecided on this set. We're yet to see the interior and confirmation on the blades. And the price. But I have a feeling that I may just BL the 2 new minifigs. If the set looks better in "real" I may just go for it, but with a bad taste over 2 of the minifigs.

Brilliant idea and execution but is there enough clearance for the ball to go underneath the bridge bits? Unless you're using an alternative ball.

Combat frigate. Sounds expensive, hopefully it sucks and I can BL the cool figures, or is awesome and worth dropping the wallet for. But I am a little bit concerned about it's availability. If it's like the big set last year, S@H was the only option. These bigger exclusives are usually TRU, which again makes S@H my only option. We'll see. Unless by "soon" he means the Blizzard "soon TM" (aka come back in a few years)

1) I placed an order on S@H, but to get the points and access the VIP-only set I had to sign up, so I did. So that means @5% discount when ordering from S@H, which is better than nothing. 2) For someone living in a country without physical Lego brand shops and with hefty postage, VIP is really only useful for the minor discount given for purchases that can't be made at local retailers. (Local retailers are far more convenient & affordable, but exclusive sets & polybags aren't available for the most part.) 3) I can't really see how VIP vs non-VIP changes my Lego experience much. Early access to exclusives is pointless if they are too costly to purchase anyway, or will appear at a retailer next year during a sale. 4) I don't really pay much attention to what is available to VIPs and what is available to everyone (for reference), but for the overseas S@H-only crowd, perhaps more (stacked) promotional incentives like waived postage costs now and then, extra polybags that are usually only available at USA TRU etc. I usually feel like I'm getting a bad deal and could buy from resellers instead - additional VIP stuff might help to alleviate that. 5) Other than some kind of freebie perhaps, I don't think customer service needs to be any different between VIPs and non-VIPs.

Mixels are half price ($3.50) on S@H. Only series 7 is available. Free Creator parrot build with orders over $45, until the end of the month. -

Well her hair piece would be fine if the head piece was the same shape as the cartoon appearance. Her hair is tucked behind her ears and sits flat around the shape of her head. If the Lego hair piece sat thinner at the top and lower at the sides it would be better. As it is (with the standard minifig head) it looks boofy with a mini mullet. I think the orange is very underdone too, but now I'm sounding like I'm complaining about everything. I reckon if her head was a bit shorter (which wouldn't fit on a torso head pin) it would fix the appearance.

Red one is from Atlantis. http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=87748pb03&idColor=17#T=C&C=17 Gold is common fez piece, it appeared in that colour in many sets. http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=85975#T=C Bottom left grey is a minifig hand attachment for claw weapon. Used in Ninjago, TMNT and others. http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=88811#T=C Spiky part is rarer than I thought. http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=54177&idColor=11#T=C&C=11 Blue part appears in various colours. http://alpha.bricklink.com/pages/clone/catalogitem.page?P=87846&idColor=1#T=C&C=1 The other grey one I can't tell what that is if it is one part, I don't recognise it.

The skin tone for her and Ezra are wrong. And the shape of her hair is wrong, she does not have a mullet. I could leave it there, but the colour of her helmet was glaringly wrong too.

That was a really good moment, BB-8 is an excellent character. I thought the over-all comedy wasn't so bad, but a few of the jokes fell a bit flat in the delivery perhaps. Characters like BB-8 & Chewbacca will always be funny, but they aren't the same type of thing. C-3PO vs R2-D2 (or most people) is always funny. Jar-Jar was more annoying than funny. Obi-Wan vs Anakin in The Clone Wars was funny. "Sounds very scary" "WWWOAAAOAHHAA" "You must be very brave" "MHMMM" Pretty funny. But not a sarcastic/cynical main character charisma kind of funny, which is what we lose without Han. "Who talks first? You talk first?" etc. Not funny, very cheesy and try-hard-to-be-funny. "That was lucky!" (re the door closing on the rathtar) Not very funny. Can't think of all of their jokes, but it feels like many of them aren't lol moments but rather an acknowledgement that an attempt on humour was made but wasn't that great. Jokes will always be hit-and-miss, but genuine dead-pan comical characters like Iron Man, Wolverine, Han Solo, Fox Mulder etc bring a lot to the table.

On the "let's vote for LOTR/Hobbit Ideas to convince TLG to make more" subject Completely disregarding licences, LOTR Ideas are dead in the water, the only reasonably sized and designed one is the Osgiliath set that is nowhere near reaching 10000, it seems that voters are only interested in massive display pieces that could never ever ever be made into a set. It proves the point that there is not enough demand for LOTR sets when Faramir & Gondor soldiers and a realistic design can't encourage fans to support it. It won the Eurobricks contest for "design a LOTR set that could actually be produced" and if that's not enough to encourage support then forget about it.

My concern about Han's death this early is that he brought humour to the mix that none of the others do. Most of them are serious characters, and the "humour" attempts by the 3 new guys in TFA are not very comedic.

I hadn't seen that cancelled set picture shown before. There is a (blurry) photo with what looks like prototypes/unmade sets/made sets (the one with the Watto bust). I think it was in that photo that you can somewhat make out the shapes of GS models in AC colours.

LEGO Ideas Discussion

Regarding the Link statue, if you look closely in the photo you can see someone has a photo frame with their kid in it, vintage space sets, an old-school toy soldier etc... these are people's personal effects decorating their place of work. I think it's just a fan. Just like I have a sigfig standing on my main computer at work. -

I'm not sure about them being a "modification", but they are certainly very similar to existing/previous products, I would bust them on that. That is if there's a written rule about that sort of thing. But if you are talking major scale changes like that Taj Mahal, I don't know if you could just rule it out for being a model of the same thing. The architecture sets come in different scales, some are of the same building. I think by "modification" the Ideas team is talking about really obvious copies with slight changes. -
Are they 1x1 tiles stacked on top of each other?

Weird and a bit annoying to do it without warning 5 days into the sale, but S@H(AU) has listed the SW sets (but not the new Hoth) at 10% off until midnight. I don't know if that is AEST or local to the buyer, or an overseas timezone. No bonus VIP points, but the Stormtrooper and poster are still available.
