Dammit you guys, until you said anything I wasn't even realising... Well I will still go for it, but we'll see how good they turn out or not physically before I go all army build on these sets. I like the way it looks that there's an auto-release for the portcullis that isn't just a "wind it up and put in the chock before you accidentally let go"

Exactly, you can have it as a display model or a playset. If it was complete it would cost heaps more, but as it is you can put it against a wall and not know the difference. I love this set, but of course, the same orc again... My guess in AUD is $270-300? I just set myself a record for most expensive new set on Monday with the Haunted House, looks like it'll be broken soon!

Man, I'm a bit sick of the recent epidemic of big plot twists in action movies... was kinda cool the first few times, but now it seems every action movie has to have a big annoying plot twist or two (that is usually full of holes). Especially super-hero movies of late. If I want a movie that will make me think I'll watch some espionage, police or murder mystery, not an underwear-on-the-outside unrealistic-abilitied NYC/LA/similar saviour (who is also almost always at odds with the law..?) Anyway, I watched Django Fett Unchained recently, typical Tarantino. No one else would make me laugh at people being shot. That's not to say I didn't find parts of the movie disturbing, as any decent person would. Interesting movie, NO big stupid plot twists.

I agree, get some eerie green lighting going on. After all, this is Minas Morgul not Minas Ithil! Excellent build, well done with the wall shapes.

TLG would get sued by Tolkien Estate if they called him that, it wasn't in the movies...

I would, but I cant post it until Friday. That helmet was used in KKII & fantasy era Castle. It's reappearing in the upcoming Castle sets again. It's really overdone in black.

Built the MHC last night, I like it. (Far better set than the Headhunter (poor man's poor man's X-Wing) - I bought it mainly for the minifigs, now I wish I'd only bought the minifigs.) Only down side is building the 6 identical legs, I can get a bit annoyed when the build is repetitive. At least they are exactly the same so you can build them all at once, rather than building the same thing again & again with slight variations one after the other. Good to have the updated Ahsoka at last!

I believe the blister packs have only been available in Lego shops or S@H? I'm not sure that you're aware, but there are no Lego shops here, and S@H products are at full price + prohibitive postage charge for us. It just isn't worth buying those things at @$50-60 all up + 2-3 week delay. Especially when the individual minifigs are cheaper on BL than the price of the set without postage. I picked up the Kingdoms ones because I'd placed a big order, and man, was the quality different to the regular sets' minifigs. (You know, the made-in-China argument.) The POTC and AC packs were useless, you could get those minifigs in the cheap sets + parts for a decent price. No wonder no one bought any. The boxed minifig sets are available everywhere that stocks Lego. That includes the current SW type, and the traditional "minifig + accessories only" for unlicenced themes (unfortunately these days that means City, in previous decades that meant everything). I'm not a fan of the SW style (4 minifigs + small pile of crap for $23) but understand the Hasbro thing there. What am I saying? Not sure. I want to army build, and I prefer boxed minifig sets. I think that's it, they're easier to get hold of and an affordable way to beef up your armies without compromising consistency in plastic or printing. If they had those for castle or somehow for LOTR I would be all over that...

After seeing a few of these in shops again I just can't help but get the 80s Transformers vibe from a lot of the vehicles. That robot (not that I've seen that one for sale anywhere though) doesn't half contribute... he's like Sunstreaker in Constructicon green.

I know as a kid I was... doesn't mean I had the money to do it. My proudest achievement was buying the same castle minifig set twice, I thought that was cool. Nowadays if they had the same sort of thing available (boxed set with 5-6 minifigs, not those terrible blister shield packs) I would grab plenty - and still feel inadequate when looking at other collections on here . As for LOTR, well, as an AFOL I'll take whatever I can get, if it means buying Orc Forge etc a few times.

Don't you remember that part? When the Sea Monkeys had to defend the fortress overnight from the Orca Hai...

TLG says "not detachable" because otherwise they are selling an action figure or figurine, and they are not allowed to do that. I imagine that they ARE in fact "detachable" in the same way that the previous magnets are - ie a bit of hot water or glue solvent could do the trick.

Awesome, thanks! -
The 5 sets are being rolled out currently, some of my local shops have them already, some don't. The set 70703 is not in the catalogue (no surprise) but also not available on S@H, which is a surprise. I have still heard no report as to where we will be able to get it.

Most of the time these sets are only available at David Jones... and rarely discounted. The Fire Station is still available at Toyworld etc. As far as foreign online options, the "other" thread would have info except that the increasing postage charges and introduction of arbitrary "not available to your country" have made it less of a possibility. So S@H is the best option for many, DJs for others. -
If you edit your post no one has to see what I said. No evidently I didn't read the long post... But he doesn't have to say how I'm right or wrong.

I'll bite, this one is a lot easier to recognise minifigs. What is hard is to remember which series they were in. I'm pretty certain about most of them. edit sorry didn't read the details of the long post...

Just like Zeya, I do it the other way around. I go to the catalogue section, go through all the SW minifigs (filtered/ordered however way) and when I find ones I want I click "add to my wanted list" then all you have to do is select which wanted list to add it to. In my case it is the SW minifigs or something like that. Thanks for reminding me, I still haven't picked up some from last year...
-
I think #1 is the bottom middle, which leaves #3 as 2nd left on the top row. I can't really remember a lot of the minifigs or which release they were in.

Hopefully I'll have some Swarm Interceptors this evening, these sets have appeared in Aus this week. At last. Haven't checked the places with current sales yet.
