Although that Kmart catalogue starts next week, the shelf prices are already changed. (Still waiting for the Star Slicer to appear on the shelf ) The Vermin Vaporiser for $55 is an excellent price, even better than the current 28% off at Myer . Normally $80, and the US price is $60, that's how good that deal is.

New enormous Sydney Opera House set (10234) is now listed on S@H (available September) for $400 (minus 1 cent, but I'm a rounder-offerrer). Looks incredible if you haven't seen it yet.

No. But we might. It happened last year, but that doesn't mean it will or won't happen again. It was a brand new line, so that was good reason to do a big unveiling. I think in the past it has tended to be Star Wars mostly (they have the bigger fan base) but we can always hope. And my Orthanc shipped yesterday. Mid year sales start this week, so plenty of LOTR goodness is coming my way!

Just to clarify regarding the Myer One 10% off, for in-store you are supposed to present the printed coupon AND a Myer One card. (If you don't have a card you can sign up for one on the spot.) Sometimes you can just mention the coupon (if you don't have one) and present your card, but it depends on the staff. You know what they say regarding being safe vs sorry, if you can print out the coupon do it.

Just ordered mine too, same story. I'm also hoping they're either covering themselves in case they get inundated with more orders than stock, or just giving an estimated date of delivery. YES, but evidently a lot of teenagers can't read instructions. Post or hint your age at your peril, some moderators don't hesitate to ban underage members. If you have the Nazgul racing on their horses the cape looks fine. I think that's what they were designed for. If they are standing, you'll have to fold or squash the capes down a bit.

+1 to castle wall panels from me too. I think the people that have a negative opinion of them tend to be people that like to make really detailed walls with bits of imperfection here and there, variations of colour etc. Like what you'd find in the Guilds of Historica. Me: flat walls? Who cares. The attacking army is just going to smash them down anyway. Careful, we'd need to be specific that we are referring to the 80s style of modularity, and not the Knights Kingdom style...

Latest trip to Kmart revealed some information: A few new shelf tags that didn't have stock yet: Galaxy Squad Star Slicer (the set that we thought we might miss out on) advertised at $48 or $49, RRP is $60. Also the SW BARC Speeder + Sidecar at $39, RRP is $40. One out of 2 ain't bad. I assume the SW set is exclusive to Kmart, but the GS set I don't know. Probably not, because they want to have lower everyday prices than everyone else, and why discount something no one else can sell when you can charge full price without losing business for that item? It is the best price reduction for GS sets though. TARGET: Right in the middle of all the shelves with the Lego, one section is completely bare. LOTR? Has anyone seen it in a Target yet?

Same as just about any regular set. Get it at a Myer or Target 20% off or wait for a Myer 3 for 2 or BOGO60. Best price I see you getting it at (besides finding it on clearance, good luck with that) is $40 if you buy 2 other $60 sets at a 3 for 2 sale.

That is hilarious. I remember being a kid in a toy shop. Ogling all the Lego & Transformers I was never going to have. I knew the stock intimately...

A few Lego items are scattered elsewhere in that Big W catalogue. LOTR board game is $35. (30% off RRP) Most Lego computer games are $24, Star Wars III is $16. The $16 Friends sets are $10, that's pretty darn good, even if it's only a select few. The Lego Batman movie is $15.96 with an exclusive Clark Kent/Superman minifig. If that made no sense to you either, the movie subtitle is "DC Super Heroes Unite". Superman Smallville set is $68. Off topic, but I couldn't help but on seeing "Despicable Me Monopoly"... what next?!?

YMMV... also the items all scanned at a higher price, had to point out the old-style Kmart yellow price stickers on the boxes to get the lower prices (the tags on the shelves had the prices written in permanent marker btw). I think the scanned prices were 49, 49 & 59 (still nice prices). Then they set the stupid alarm off anyway... Really professional.

Further mark-downs on some licenced sets at Kmart: Bat vs Bane tumbler set & Doc Ock ambush set both $30, down from $70! Attack of the Wargs $40, down from $100!!! QUICK!

The clue is in the minifig faces. If you check on Bricklink whenever there's a set with clones in it you can see whether their eyes are huge or not.

Kmart gets the Haunted House?!? Damn. If I'd known I'd have waited.Good set, took me hours to build, awesome details.
