I don't like being a party pooper but there's a lot of plot spoiler going on in here, it's a bit unfair for people who wish to enjoy the movie not knowing what's coming. Yes, the book has been out forever but I recall last year we either used spoiler tags or maybe posted in some separate topic if speculating about AUJ. I believe there is one for discussing The Hobbit somewhere?

1, 2 maybe 3 months I'm okay with, but 4-5 months (especially for a movie that isn't released yet) is too long. Also, some places haven't seen the newly released TLOTR sets yet. Surely we can still talk about those? The earlier that things are revealed, the less patient I get to build them. We saw the new Castle sets way back in January or February, they aren't out here until September. I hate that. My Fantasy Era dragons are still out waiting to be photographed next to the new one. I know I'm most likely going to be buying the whole lot anyway, the only question for me is "when?". You can plan ahead for purchases after they've been released too. It's the extended wait until release that I don't like. A few months is fine for me, but 4 is too long, by the time it's out it's old news and I know it back to front already. Make sense?

I hope nothing or very little is revealed at Comic Con, the sets won't be out for another 4-5 months anyway.

Your entire collection (sets only) when you were a kid
Artanis I replied to SheepEater's topic in General LEGO Discussion
From the 80s & 90s: 19 space sets, 14 castle sets, @8-12 pirate sets (some I can't remember if I had or not), 2 aquazone sets, a whole heap of town sets (most of them presents, I wasn't overly interested in that stuff), 1 fabuland set, and some duplo and standard bricks. Most of those sets were small, and medium at best. Next set I bought wasn't until 2007 when I realised eBay & Bricklink had vintage sets available, despite having joined BL in 2004. My sister had given me an adventurers set sometime before that though. First new (off the shelf) set I bought after that was Space Police 3 in 2009. (Yes, I bought the whole line...) I buy more Lego each year than I had in total 15 years ago, when I'd started spending all my spare money on music stuff. -
There is a topic just for your question where GRogall has recently posted the official Lego catalogue for Germany for July-December. Pages 48 & 49 indicate that Castle is due in September (same as Australia). You will also see on page 73 that LOTR is due in July.

Not for at least 6 months I'd imagine. Might even be as late as next June... -
As in the "Dragon Wagon"?

Not an amazing deal, but I think it's the best we're going to see, as the set hasn't appeared anywhere else yet. -
That's nothing, I watched Man Of Steel and completely missed Amy Adams until the credits...

Built Orthanc last night after all, finished at 2am... (ugh...) Amazing, and the poster is pretty cool (both sides of it unfortunately, which one to use?) It took about 5 hours, but I was taking photos too. They were recalled in UK.

Unfortunately the only Darth Maul I have is the one from 2011, the worst of them all so far. (His eyes are too close together, he looks ratty) Looking forward to the chicken leg one when the new sets appear...

(Did you recognise Bilbo? ) It's good, because people are living normal life as they know it, something weird happens and none of them knows what is going on or understands (at least for a time). That's realistic. And as an observer you know something is going to happen but not what or when or how. That's exciting, and the pacing just adds to the reality of the story and the tension for the viewer. The very first Alien is by far my favourite of all those movies, it's the least action-dependent. Prometheus suffered in that you knew what to expect, unless you'd never seen any Alien movies before. If the Alien movies had never been made previously it would've had top marks from me rather than being a bit spoiled.

The fan community needs a specific name for it to differentiate from the dozen other iterations of "Castle". The original point was brought up regarding Bricklink, where you can just do a search for "Royal Knights" and not have every Castle set ever released come up in the results. "Fantasy Era" was a term coined by us fans. Yes, TLG just called it "Castle", but it needed a name for the reasons just mentioned. Because TLG rebranded the castle sets as "Kingdoms" (a term never used previously) we didn't need to come up with a name for it. Before "Fantasy Era", castle sets were branded as "Knights Kingdom" and had 2 distinct iterations, so we (the fans) dubbed them "Knights Kingdom I" & "Knights Kingdom II" to differentiate. Before that, sets were mostly faction based and the factions were named for us. If TLG gives us nothing, and no one can think up anything, "Castle 2013" is probably how we'll refer to it for now.

Promotion of Brickdoctor to Star Wars moderator
Artanis I replied to Bonaparte's topic in LEGO Star Wars
He's made a lot of contribution to the SW forum over the last 3 years even before joining staff. Very active in discussions, MOC & mod advice, and answering questions. A huge asset to the site as a moderator. -
I wouldn't, unless next year we get fantasy races. It's not really all that fantastic: a dragon & a wizard. That's all. Been done plenty of times before. In "Fantasy Era" we got an army of trolls (orcs), an army of dwarves and an army of skeletons to go with our wizard & dragons. That's a vast difference to what we have here. I don't know what to call it (Kingdoms II would've been fine, or Knights Kingdom III, but they called it "Castle") - perhaps hope TLG throws something in a catalogue or something.

Finally found the Star Slicer, an interesting set. I set up a GoPro for time lapse of the build process, haven't seen how that turned out yet. Strangely my set came with 2 sticker sheets. At last I've finished the first wave, of course the second one is already out in the USA... Well at least it's only a couple of months until it's out here too.

Good news, S@H have changed the free postage deal slightly, in that it no longer runs out at the end of August. (Especially for those wanting to buy the Opera House or Ewok Village straight away in September.) Still need to spend $150, still standard service, but now a permanent offer rather than limited time only. -
I bought the game on Saturday, built it, but haven't played it yet. I took photos including of the rules (pretty much a cross between Heroica & SW Battle Of Hoth Lego board games) and I'll put them up soonish, maybe even type up a mini reviewish type thing. The game differs from Heroica in that it isn't a dungeon crawler kill all monsters, but rather 2 teams last-man(hero)-standing / capture the flag objective, there are no object pick-ups, spells, gold etc. But you still have hit points, and special abilities when you roll The One Ring. I haven't thought of a way to integrate the two yet. Also, my Tower Of Orthanc is currently in transit for delivery today, sucks though because I probably can't build it until Wednesday night. I hate having a new set sitting there not being built yet...

Thanks. I wish we could get this concrete info a lot earlier, especially regarding the stuff that has already been out in USA for months. Well I finally found a Star Slicer, so in another 2 months' time the rest of the Galaxy Squad sets will be out, and I can complete the collection already... -
I hope I get mine tomorrow then. Means I can build it on Saturday under natural light

Too funny. I know I'll never find that polybag, but I'd like one as I don't have the Kraang-in-suit minifig. Training with Master Splinter 79103 Turtle Lair Attack by Artanis I, on Flickr
