Yes, i had those thoughts as well.. but there is a on/off sticker on the roof, similar to the one on the new red 60098 train... could be a coincidence, or is it a sticker from a new set.. maybe L@go has more pictures...?

i also wonder what the yellow train-like thingy is, in the corner of the picture seen a few posts ago...???? Another train?

it has the blue crane also with it.. as was seen on the pictures from L@go from Copenhagen today...
-
The new 60098 looks a lot like a red version of the 7939 yellow cargotrain.. I made one, a few years ago...

@ l@GO....: What is the yellow train-thing in the right-below corner of this picture...

It looks a bit like the red version of the 7939 yellow cargotrains that i've made a few years ago... at least the red cabin-piece won't be rare anymore... Thanks for sharing the pictures!!

Ah okay, so you won't widen it any more.. than you won't have a baseplate-problem.. By the way, i like the pool hall better with one door, like you.. maybe i should close on down in my DO-MOD There is one thing.. the DO- looks a bit plain, i did some extra windows in the front.. maybe you should try that as well?? And i also made a balcony on the rear.....
-
I can see that, but i would likt to know what he will use, when he is going to expand the Do... use 8x16 baseplates, like me?
-
Nice work! When you are going to expand it, do you use 2 baseplatse 32x32, or how would you do that?

Maybe you should know that the modulars are displayed in a room (attic) that has sloping ceilings and the highest point of the room is about 1.30 meters....so it is pretty small..... for displaying it does the job, but for other things like building, it isn't suitable at all. I'm now thinking about some kind of statue, that could stand in front of the Majestic Town Hall....
-
That actually looks pretty nice! My first thought was: A hotel somewhere near the sea... Maybe a Pet Shop-set could do this job. The two halves on both sides and then fill up the large gap with storage-room are a parking or so...

Well, Finnbricker, i would love to see your LDD-form.... It should be a massive building then!! I wonder what other people do with the restricted measurements of the baseplates.....anyone?
-
That is a funny idea..although, i'm not sure if i would bring my bricks into contact with juice.. but it is nice anyway!
-
It will look great as a standalone in a modular layout. By the way, did you ever think about making an inverted-cornerbuilding? It will cost you lots of bricks, but it would be usefull in some layouts....
-
That is one nice building! I like the color as well, even besides your Blue Grocer! Are you inspired by Cimddwc's building, or is it just a co-incidence?? Really great job!!

I like it very much as a standalone! By adding some extra windows to the sidewalls, it gets a bit more 'cosey'! It is 48 studs wide, isn't it? I had some problems with widening my modulars in the past years.. If you want to adapt the width, you have to deal with the limits of the baseplates.. i mostly took 16x32 + 32x32, but also used smaller 'baseplates' like 8x16. Are there any basplates smaller than this size?? Here is my version of the TownHall, i made 3 pillars on both side.. this was the most difficult thing to widen. I had to made the walls a bit higher, as the tri-angular shape above the pillars needed to be higher....
-
I only used two sets and some extra pieces... i guess a few plates for the floor or so..i do not have that in mind very well. But i think you can do the job with 2 sets and a small bricklink order!! Succes!

That is a great build!! You've created your own style, it is different from other builds i've seen. Together with that expressive garden it is a really nice project!!
-
That is not a cafe corner, but a cafe tower... you could ofcourse sell me one floor, if you want to... The first three modulars are the ones i left in their original sizes... Could you give us a picture taken from the front.. ? Great street!!
-
I think you've done a good job.. i also like the interiors... they look practical, realistic and complete!! I especially like the sanitary room with the showers!! But you are right about the roof.. it looks too simple.. maybe you can get inspired by watching pictures of other modulars? But if i were you, i would really build this fire station afte you have changed the roof...!!
-
Thanks! I did not add an extra floor, but i did add an extra row of bricks here and there... so it looks higher... Also the roof is raised and the tower as well!!

Dr JB, that is correct.. there are more elements that were not a part of an Original Modular set. I bricklinked extra street lamps and had those lego-tree-pieces available from my other City layout.. And yes.. that would look awesome, as long as the LED's used are not sucht bright white LED's but a bit dimmed, yellowish light.... I is hard to make a video, or pictures, without getting those shiny, reflecting bricght-light bricks... I used a TL-light and 4 spots, to get it a bit right.. but taking pictures is still hard in this layout.. And it is placed in the attic, and there is no daylight... Better for bricks, but worse for taking pictures....

Gazumpty, thank you for your kind words and constructive remarks. I already made a small start with brick built trees. The 3 trees in front of the Town Hall are the first step to landscaping the whole layout. But sometimes it is hard what to choose... go for another modular set, or invest in tiling and landscaping the 14.000 studs of the baseplates... Those (very simple) brickbuilt trees, for example, would cost me about 6 euro's a piece... but i really see what you mean.. it would look way better to change those Lego Tree-pieces into larger, brick built trees, that have the grandeur of the modular layout. The extra large versions of the modulars were not always that easy to make.. Due to limited parts, i had to change some façades very often.. But one thing is sure, i ofcourse 'just' modified the buildings... and that cannot be compared to some of our collegue-EB'rs that make beautifull MOC's... I wish i had their creativity!!! Anyway, thanks for you remarks!!
