  1. Good advice Saint. Thanks. I live in Eindhoven and as I said before I think 't Blokjeshuis has the better deals on regular Legosets in my neighbourhood. You're supposed to order online (and pay in cash when you pick up the set if you choose to, like I did). But, they don't sell loose bricks or minifigs... Heheh... indeed it was. I just didn't think of it. ;) I'm looking forward to visit the shop in Antwerp someday. I just got back from Oberhausen (where they have not one but TWO Legostores within 500 meters! THREE, if you also count the toy-departement at the departementstore which has almost the same sellection as the legostores minus the PAB and the merchandise) and it/they didn't disappoint!
  2. That was to be expected I guess... At the moment I'm not in the need of lot's of new lego. (...but I'm a succer for a cheap bulkload ofcourse...) A few particular parts would be nice. So Atembo could be of good use for me. It depends on how expansive their inventory is. Any idea? I'm not eager to order online, as I'm affraid it could become a very expensive habbit... ;-) The Legohobby is relatively new to me so discovering all these (pseudo)lego shops like atembo and Legostore antwerp is truely fun for me. Can't wait! ...but first, Oberhausen...
  3. Ah, thanks for the info again, Saint! 'calling them before you make the trip' is a good one. Didn't think of that. Didn't think of them speaking Dutch. That will be a huge benefit. But for now, my first Legostore is going to be the one in Oberhausen (G). Christmaswindowshopping with my girlfriend in 'CentrO', a huge mall that just happens to have a Legostore. :-) I'm really interested in Atembo by the way. Curious about how they sell Legoparts and at what price. And Antwerp is added to my list.
  4. OMG! This is awesome! A proper lego-set. I totally see this happening. Cool to see a variation of the dollhouse-style opening. That really works well it seems. I really wanna see some more pics though... ;-) (And now I really want to build a celler like you did for my haunted house...)
  5. Hahaw, thanks gazumpty. Glad you like it. Maybe someday I'll try a 7stud version of those cars to better fit the modulars...
  6. I'll bet it does... ;-) But as I never been to one IRL I thought it'd be nice to get an impression of size and the way everything is located. How the pab-wall is sorted. A glimpse of the staff, or maybe just to see how busy the store is. One can learn a lot from a pic ;-) I seriously have no idea how big a Legostore is. I have to drive a great distance so I better make sure it's going to be worth my while.. :-)
  7. Thanks for the info. I immediatly did some research and found Atembo myself. Those prices are pretty much the same as 't blokjeshuis in Eindhoven (on most sets), but it's a real shop with a large inventory it seems... And they sell packages of seperate pieces! (maybe not as cheap as a pab-wall can be but that is something to find out... Anybody have some photo's of the Antwerpstore?
  8. Ahhh, thát's what was going on... I went to Toys XL to go and buy Petshop and MF wherewolf set. I couldn't believe the price at the reg... A few days later I realized being stupid to not buy more cause I really wanted a 2nd haunted house as soon as I got my first. But ofcourse, the sale was over when I got back. Also the Haunted House was sold... Saint, what Bredastore are you talking about? Are they cheaper than 't blokjeshuis (or sometimes called legohuis) in eindhoven? (=onlinestore BUT you can view the box in person and pay cash at the door) The Antwerpstore is a nice addition to the europe legostores. Going for the first time to such a store (Oberhausen - Germany)
  9. OMG, that link is awesome. Can't wait. Need tips on how to distract my girlfriend....
  10. Bummer... Ah well, I think we just have to enjoy the fact that the Legostore has EVERY set from the current line to choose from... Hopefully the pick a brick wall will contain lots of usefull parts... Thanks for responding Lego Otaku!
  11. Are there any differences and or sales in prices compared to regular toystores? In other words is Lego at a Legostore cheaper than at a regular toystore? Thanks!
  12. One disappointement though... When I was done building these cars and when I got my first modular it was very obvious that eventhough all of it is minifig-orientated they don't 'fit' well together... Ofcourse the hearse was ment to be with my haunted house. Although the house is much bigger than the original it still isn't big enough to park the hearse next to it. Just look at the cars 'standing up'. Allmost as tall as a building... (former Petshop heheh... )
  13. yeah! Looks like one of those experimental futuristic sportscars from the 60's/70's... ...and to make it an experimental futuristic sportscar from the 40's/50's you'll only have to turn around the cockpit... Serious! I'll bet ya: it'll look good too...
  14. Thanks man! Really appreciated!
  15. Hahah, I hear ya... I have bought three of these hearses. If you want to mod something it comes in handy just to have two (or more) of them... Hmzz, I made a start building dthe icecreamtruck version only to find out I have just one of those wheelwell arches and I really need four. I'm not too eager to order seperate pieces online, so I don't think I'll be building it soon. Money and time-issues. Like everybody else, I guess... ;-)
  16. Thanks! Looking forward to it... Man I wanted to buy the castle sooo often... I kinda like that car (and ofcourse the green bricks it's build out of...) Wanted to use the castle-set to build a cellar for my haunted house. Maybe someday. If I have some money again to spend on plastic toys... ;-) Thanks! I was really glad I had some of the strange lego-pieces in my childhood-lego bin, the legs are made of.
  17. You're totally right Jorrith. That rediculously over the top evil cartoon look has made me take the step and buy a minifig-orientated Lego set. EVER. As an adult! I put the set together and enjoyed that for a while but immediatly noticed some things could be done better. Somehow I wanted it to be more 'realistic' in a hotrod-kind-of-way. So stance, wheelbase, and overall look as a massive car were the most important things in mind when I started building. And while I was building it the front reminded me of the Batmobile and I immediately started building the batmobile using the frontend. I didn't want both cars to have the same frontend so I came up wit a more realistic one. At the time (as well as now) I didn't had too many options in usable bricks. Hey, this was my first snot-frondend! ;-) So, hence the bland frontend. Just the frontend cause I think I did better than Lego's version in the overall look of the car. Could be a matter of taste ofcourse. (Check out my batmobile via my signature-link.) You did a nice build by the way! I very much agree on the wobbly teeth... The hotrod-grille is also a nice touch, as well as the opening reardoor. Oh yeah, I I don't want to knock Lego for this design. Far from that. I still think it's awesome they had the guts to come out with this set. It had rekindled my love for Lego and opened up a new world of afols to me :-) On my wishlist is building a creepy white icecreamtruck using the Legohearse as a base. That car is awesome Dwarven Walrus. I love Steampunk. Funny that this design too reminds me of a batmobile...
  18. I think I've heard of that place... :-p I won't be using it though. That website is far too dangerous for me and my wallet, if you catch my drift... But thanks for your suggestions. I'll probably considder it in the future. :-) Thanks Energo! Though not everyone agrees with you on the front part. Especially on the wide rims... I've done an engineswap guys! I had'n't had a particular engine in mind and just build something that resembles a typical hotrod engine. But today I build a Flathead mill to put between (or rather on top) of the framerails. Hope you like. Maxi-figure isn't too sure about it yet. So help him decide! ;-)

    Monde Cinema

That is beautiful!! Especially the inside with all the Artdeco-features...
  20. I'm with you on that :-) as soon as I find a (very) cheap set that contains thinner, but taller wheels I'm gonna snatch it up and replace these low-profilers...
  21. That probably will make it look better, but I just have to work with what I've got. I'm not planning to buy lot's of Lego anytime soon... Maybe, if I find a cheap set that contains em I'll certainly think about it. Thanks for the suggestion!
  22. Thanks again guys! Really appreciating the comments and critics. :-) Hope someone attemps building this same model using dark red. I don't think I will anytime soon. I don't have the bricks and I'm ot eager to online ordering of bricks. Indeed, this car and my hearse are way to big for in a City or modular display... Making a smaller version would be too hard to pull off... To me, at least... This model has some particular key-parts that I just can't see being substited in something smaller... But I'll dare you (or anyone) to give it a try!
  23. Thanks guys! I love those odd pieces. I'd planned to make em point backwards like fins, but it looked so much better this way. Ya don't say... ;-) Heheh... I know. like I said: too wide and too low profile. But these are the wheel I háve to use. I only have some 80's technic wheels as an option and they don't have that much of creative ways of using them... Using parts that aren't perfect makes you creative. Trying to make something good out of something bad with very limited bricks. I love that search for the best compromise, which building with Legos is... Compromising, cause the good thing about the wheels is that the visible white rim looks like a whitewall! Thát sort of creative sollutions give me more pleasure than a perfectly detailed model. To me it has to have the right vibe. :-) But I agree with you. The front tires, especially on a T bucket should be 1/3rd of the width they are now, and much MUCH taller. :-) That technic hotrod is an abomintion not worthy of the Lego name. I know for sure any of us here can make a more appealing hotrod with the same or even less bricks. So thanks, but it's hardly a compliment... Heheh... ;-)
  24. 1923 Model T Ford Hotrod. Started with Lightning McQueens' wheels. Although they were very modern looking extreme wide and lowprofile, they now look like rims sporting whitewalls. Still, the tires are far too wide, but hey, you can't have it all can you... ;-) The build started out yellow but I soon discovered I hadn't nearly enough usable yellow bricks. So instead I used white. And that helps it in being nostalgic/traditional too. I've also used quit a lot of my childhood bricks, including some robust 80's Technic. But enough of the talk. Go look at the pics!
