  1. It beats having to buy several complete sets if you only use particular bricks! Can't wait to visit 'my' store! ...but wth kind of brick is that one? Never saw one of those, and I don't have a clue what to make of it... I do notice you could stick a technic rod true it...
  2. Exactly. I kind of have had a love/hate relation with Lego over the years. (More love than hate though... ) After my childhood and late teens my interest faded away especially when I noticed al these 'special' bricks that came out. Always thought those bricks interfered with a childs imagination and creativity. Until I 'recently' saw the amazing stuff that was being build. By adults! Discovering that those special bricks were being used in a VERY creative way other than Lego intended in the first place made me re-think my negative opinion... Another 'hate-factor' was Lego buying the rights of movies to produce stuff like Harry Potter and Starwars sets and what not. But somehow I made a 180° turn and think it's the best Lego has ever done. For themselves, but also for the buying public. We are in a situation where the buying public is feeding off the Lego-group and vice-versa. I think it is a unique situation for a toy-manufacturer and I hope it will last a long time. I've since then been oogling the new appealing sets that came out, but it wasn't until the official Monsterfighters Hearse release that really made me want to buy new Lego. It took me another year or so to buy one, but the rest is history.... errrr future. And then I realised that I had to brush up my Lego building skills and find out what techniques where being used. Some builds are truly mindblowing, and I especially have a soft spot for ingenious tiny builds using a small amount of bricks. I for instance love the microbuild-series of the starwars ships. Although I never bought one because, well, they cost a lot... So, now all these adventcalenders are up for sale everywhere, I might go pick one up...
  3. I hope not, but that could be indeed the case Warg... Better give them a call before making the trip to visit the store. If so, then a visit would only be logical if they just carry the one brick you've been searching for...
  4. Thanks Jorrith, I'm pleased the way it came out. Ofcourse I stumbled upon lots of problems building a 7stud but I kinda enjoyed the bigger challange than the average Lego kids-skill, now that I've grown up... (kind of...) One thing I hate though is the running out of bricks that I really need. I've run out of all of the uneven bricks. Especially plates. 1x1s, 1x3s, 2x3s, gold round 1x1s, etc. That makes building a 7stud or a 5stud REALLY hard... I don't like to yank it off of some of my previous builds, but I had to, and I did...
  5. Ah, I'm guessing you're using a tablet? The site doesn't seem to work properly on a tablet... I think it's best to call the store right before you plan a visit to see if they still have these big plastic container bins, and if they are half full or half empty , and maybe find out what kind of bricks are being offered. I think it's great to see this happening in the Netherlands because of lack of 'official' Lego stores... Still, I won't be buying a lot of Lego anymore (when I keep on NOT winning the lottery), But it's good to know there is a possibility in the Netherlands to buy a bulkload of particular pieces.
  6. You could be right about that pic of the pickabrick wall... HOWEVER... And I think it now is my turn to give YOU some great info: 1- The pickabrick at DenHaag is twice as large as you think because it has not 5 but 10 BIG tubes. Sure, different bricks are put together but it is not much different from the pab-wall in Oberhausen. I think it's a good thing there is a lot to choose from. What I see is a few tubes filled with different bricks from one color. So yeah, you could spend a whole afternoon picking the bricks you really need. But other than ordering online I don't see any other way to get a bulkload from one particular type of brick. Really, I don't think it's that much different from a regular pickabrickwall... 2 - Some other great info (cause I suspect that you've missed it: If you scroll down on the DenHaag page you will find a Google-streetview-'pic'. That means YOU CAN TAKE A LOOK INSIDE this store and see for yourself. Just click on the entrance and step inside for some inside-windowshopping. You'll get amazing views like this one: ^ 360°view pic by Hans Klop (owner) ^ 360°view pic (zoomed-in) by Hans Klop (owner) Just step in digitaly to see what those tubes are really about. (But keep in mind that these are OLD pics and PROBABLY DON'T let you see the current stock!! This is just to give you an impression.) Brickfever Conceptstore Den Haag If you want to take a visit, remember to join there club to get the blue pass that will let you inside the store. At least, that's what I think you have to do, but you can read about it on their site: Brickfever Clubmembership
  7. Love the glue!!! and that cat...
  8. What a cool piece! Love it. The way you came up with MECHANICAL flickering lights is just briliant.
  9. That's cool buddy. Thanks! Highly appreciated.
  10. Kinda disappointed by the non-compatibility of the two Monsterfighters sets 'vampyre hearse' and 'haunted house', I build the house a bit larger and now the hearse a bit smaller. The hearse had allready been modded to my own taste, but now was the time to build a smaller version for my house. First time I ever tried and build a 7-stud wide car. And man, that comes with problems... It took me quite a while but I think I did okay. I used snot techniques, for instance the front-end and the windscreen. Most of the rest is a basic traditional Lego build. Oh, and it is still minifig-friendly. It contains a zombie-chaufeur and a vampyre-filled coffin! ^ Figuring out how to narrow the wheelspacing was quite a challenge. It is now hold on by a single row of 4 studs and two 2x2 jumperplates. ^ As compared to my 'original' hearse... ^ The new version has the coffin sticking out a bit in the back, for a more grotesque view Well, it does add a little bit of drama ofcourse... ^ 7-studs vs 8-studs ^ The reason for schrinking the hearse: My Modified Haunted House. Both look way better together as well as on their own.
  11. This hearse was one of my first mods. I got it done before I build my moded Haunted House. I was a bit disappointed that the car still was way too big for the house eventhough I made the house XTRA LARGE... So I finally got round to fix that problem and tried to build a smaller version of the same modded hearse. Now it's a 7-stud wide car: But I will create a thread of it's own for this one
  12. Hmmz... I stumbled upon a 'copy' of my Batmobile. So if Anyone was wondering how it'll look in red instead of limegreen check out BRICKMASTA's build HERE. What do you guys think?
  13. There are no copyrights when we're playing with our lego's but it would be nice if credits go to the right person. I don't mind anyone building what I've build or heavilly influenced by what I've build. Heck, I even encourage people to do so! But you've posted it as if this build was YOUR creative idea. You make people believe that you have come up with this way of building THE Batmobile. And what's the point of it? I can't imagine you enjoying these undeserved praises and nice words you get in OUR community. Because... I've noticed you beinig active in Lego comunities with some pics of nice mocs. That Viper you've build for instance is awesome! BUT... and this is a big butt... Is that truly your own design, or did you also copy this one from someone else..? By doing so, people in the Lego community will tend to not believing you because of this behaviour... Keep in mind that the Lego-community is large, and yet o-so small... We're bound to bump into eachother sooner or later. So instead of making people believe you've come up with this Batmobile-idea, it would be nice of you to me and the rest of the lego-community to let them know I was the one that build the 'original'. That goes for Eurobricks, but also for all the other forums where you're (and I'm) active, like Flickr and so on... So... PLEASE do the right thing and give credit where credit is due. Thanks in advance! This being said... you've done a good job creating this batmobile in more authentic colors. I love it! I've been wondering how it would have looked using red bricks. I love that you have kept the hearse frontlights. It just looks so mean and it fits the carricature of this car very well. I'm wondering how the minifigs will fit your Batmobile. It's a bit hard to see how you've build the cockpit.
  14. Hmmzzz... I could be wrong but did you mean MY take on the '66 Batmobile...? I guess copying is the greatest form of flatery, ...right? So thanks! And yes, it does look very good in red! Check for more pics in my signature.
  15. One euro more than at the official stores huh... Well, depending on the sort of bricks and what you're looking for it probably still is a good deal... BUT... Did you check out their site? The Den Haag store also seems to have 'some sort of pick-a-brick'... There is a picture from a pab-wall, and If you click the link below and scroll down you'll see a fully operational Google Streetview ...INSIDE THE STORE!!!! Go check it out! (oh, and too bad I found out about their salesfolder a day late. It had some pretty good deals...) http://www.brickfever.nl/index.php?pagina=den-haag-concept-store Edit: I now read that 'you only have to show your blue brickfever-pass to get into the store'...
  16. Thanks! You're absolutely right. The exterior mods are extensive yet very subtle ...until you put it next to the original Haunted House. Only then you'll notice my building being a complete floor higher. (in bricks ofcourse, not in floors ;-) ) But I really don't mind you don't see it at first or even second glance.I like the original very much and I just build it larger mainly for the completion of a reasonable detailed interior. What I would like is people recognising Disney's Phantom Manor in it. After all that's why I started modding it in the first place. The Phantom Manor is Disneyland Paris' version of a classic victorian haunted mansion.
  17. :-D Nice build! I also like the xmastree.
  18. Oh WOW! That is some great info Ritzs!!!! I will definately visit that store really soon for the pab-wall. They have two other stores in the netherlands. Don't know if there are more (dutch) members who know about them... Oistrwijk isn't that far from where I live. I was aware of those pab-contents links but I don't think the brickfeverstore is mentioned on there, or did I miss something. But thank you for pointing me out I have a pab-wall around the corner. :-)
  19. Thanks Feafrost. That is some good info. Sorry, but I forgot to say that the turkey was the on piece I bought seperate from the pab-bricks. They had a bunch for sale for 0,50 eurocents. The reason to visit a legostore is to see all of the exclusive and/or hard to find sets, unique pieces, merchandise, and only to buy from the pab-wall. There are other stores for buying much cheaper lego. Lot's are 25% less then lego-store prices... So the turkey came as a seperate piece, but not from a pab bin. But you're right Antp... There was a bin chuckfull of interestinf and usefull leftoverparts.
  20. I've posted some pics of my Legostore Oberhausen trip here...
  21. Back from Legostore Oberhausen Germany, where I lost my Pick a Brick virginity... Oberhausen has a big mall with 3 Lego-points of sale within a 300mtr radius. 1 - Legostore with a decent p.a.b. wall, all the sets inc cusoo, architecture, modulars, exclusives, polybags, grab-yourself-3-minifig, etc 2 - Legoland Discoverycentre including Legostore, all the lego sets, a few exclusives, merchandise, smal p.a.b. with different bricks and pieces sold by weight 3 - Departementstore with a large Lego inventory So before spending all your dough at THE Legostore visit all three to see what they've got. Because it was my virginvisit to a Legostore I didn't had the guts to go all out so I hadn't really done my best to fill the two large cups. It took me half an hour to get this and I'm quite happy with my first result:
  22. So... Oberhausen was a fun trip. I found out there were not one but two Legostores within 300mtr! Both selling the same sets, but they do differ in some details. Mostly merchandise and sales(!) ..and selling loose bricks. There is a Legoland Discovery center outside right across the big mall, which has also a Legostore. This one has a rather small pick a brick wall with different bricks and pieces than in the p.a.b. in the Legostore in the mall. At the discoverycenter you'll be using small plastic bags instead of cups. Both shops are well worth a visit BEFORE spending money in either one. There was also a 3rd(!) Lego salespoint: A big departementstore carries the complete legoline and some exclusive stuff. Check for sales...
  23. Thanks guys! Nah... that takes away the creative fun of Lego don't you think? Lego did a great job with this set as it is. Just a few minor mistakes, like the placement of attic-ladder, and the stairs behind the windows.
