Hello everyone! This week I was lucky enough to find the new 75226 Inferno Squad Battle Pack early at my local hypermarket. This set is basically based on the campaign of the latest Battlefront 2 game. I really like all the Battlefront games and I want the main characters since the new one released. There could be find some really cool custom minifigures on the internet, but I always prefer the official ones more even if the custom ones could be much more detailed. So I was very excited, when the first rumours said they will come in a battle pack. Details Name: 75226 Inferno Squad Battle Pack Theme: Star Wars/Battlefront Year: 2019 (1H) Pieces: 118 Minifigures: 4 Price: USD 14.99 Source and more info: Brickset Box The size of the box is the common battle pack box size, which most of the bp's use. This set has the new 2019 box art, which features Darth Vader on the right corner and the Star Wars logo in black next to the LEGO logo. These two are in good contrast with the white background. The white background is nicely detailed by imitating a lot of actual pieces in white and this goes around each side of the box. The front shows all the minifigures and the build of this set in the middle of an action scene. According the background it takes place on the forest moon of Endor and this location was featured in the game too. The back shows the speeder landed with the figures in different poses and the vehicle's stud shooter in action. On the sides continuous the nice white background and besides the usual texts have the logo of the LEGO Life App and a minifig for size reference. Build As usual to the battle packs the box contains two unnumbered bags and a small instructions. The instructions book is smaller than the previous battle packs had. This new one is the same size that the Microfighters have and because of that, they don't have to folding it. The new instructions in 2019 have QR codes printed on the front and you could scan these with the LEGO Life App to use digital instructions. At the back of the book ther are an ad for the Life App and how to use the QR code, there are pics of other new sets and the minifigs of those sets, plus there is the partslist to. The set a lot of good different type and colored pieces, but nothing too special. The completed build of the set is a unique looking speeder. Just like some other small battle pack vehicles, neither this one based on an actual thing from the Star Wars universe, but it could fit into any collection. The designers made a good work to capture the feeling of imperial ships by the shapes and make an interesting looking speeder. The colors they've used reminds me the Corvus, which is the main ship of the squad plus they added a couple of red parts, which refers to the symbols of the team. The main part of the bps are of course the minifigures, so if you only need them, there are a lot of useful pieces for MOC building in this set. It has a lot of different kind of pieces, such as wedge plates and technic pieces. The model is very compact and uses several building techniques to get differently oriented parts. The wings are nicely angled with a couple of technic parts and the are quite sturdy. The main play features are the stud shooters on the side of the two wings. Besides them it has 4 imitated blasters too. The vehicle could fit only one of the figs, but the seat has only two studs and it makes very easy to remove the pilot.(sometimes too easy...) The only "weak" part is the engine at the back, what is heald just two technic pins. Minifigures As I've said before, in most cases you'll buy this kind of set mostly for the minifigures. Here they are the members of the Inferno Squad, which is an imperial special forces unit. In the video game it contains three person, Commander Iden Versio, Gideon Hask and Del Meeko. The story has a prequel as a book and there the squad had a fourth member, Syen Marana. The main character, Iden, got a new accurate headprintig and a recolored hairpiece, but she doesn't has a helmet. All the other figs have helmet instead of hairpieces. Since the introduction of the stud shooters, the figures in the bps usually comes with them instead the nicer, smaller blaster pieces. This is also the case here, but they tried to make some differences of the weapons by adding a couple of pieces to them. It's a good move, but still doesn't feel the best option. Iden has unique torso printing, the others have new printing too, but they all have the same design. In the perfect case this one will be Hask's and Del would get another different print. Del has more ammo packs and pockets on his armor, because of that the minifig got the Batman belt piece in black. This is a nice addition, it makes this one even cooler and fortunately in the set is a spare one of that piece, which is really useful in this color. The printed leg pieces looks great and all of them has the same. In this set only Iden has a new and double-sided head, but fortunately all the figures have different faces. I think the faces for Iden, Del and Gideon fits perfectly, but unfortunately the fourth one is just the generic male trooper head. Summary This battle pack is on of the better ones with a good selection of well made minifigures and a nice small speeder with a lot of useful pieces. It's a relatively cheap way to get main characters or just beautiful figure parts. If you like Battlefront 2 this is the perfect set for you, if not, even than this could be very special addition for anyones Imperial collection. because the new trend of putting named characters in battle packs, they lost the army building value, but I think in this case the minifigures could serve a nice base for your custom imperial members. In a perfect word all of figures would come with hairpieces and helmets too, but I think I'll give the generic troopers helmet to Iden and use the rest of that fig for customization. I recommend this set to any Star Wars collector, and even if you only want the figures. Play: 7/10 (The stud shooters gives the set the most playfeature, but the speeder is very swooshable too) Design/Build: 8/10 (Nothing too special in design wise, but the whole build feels sturdy and complete) Minifigures: 9/10 (They are the star of the set, would've been perfect with four helmets, hairpieces and normal blasters) Price/Value: 8/10 (If you really want these figures, it deffinetly worth the price, but for discounted price you couldn't miss it) Overall: 8/10 (Great set for both collections and playing) My whole album of the set: Bricksafe A bonus picture with additional hairpieces, blasters and custom Iden's droid:

It's also going somewhat unnoticed in a wave with more exciting designs and figures. It's true this kit is only 4 of the same figure, but in my opinion it's a solid figure to have four of. If any moderator wants to add a poll, be my guest. Otherwise, feel free to reply with your impression of the set. Here's the front of the box, standard 2014-2015 wave "Rebels" grey/orange. And the back. Love the four-shot at the top right. The contents: Here are the stars of the show - the Star Wars: Rebels-era Stormtroopers. From what I've read the printing/grill on the front of the trooper mask is a cause of some protest for Lego Star Wars fans - some say it's too grinnish, distorted and unfamiliar. We'll get to that later. All four troopers are identical, except two of them have a different facial expression. Here's the troopers' backs. And with the stud shooters, which although I agree are somewhat not-so-great for minifigs, have had success recently integrating them onto ships and vehicles. Here are some steps throughout the build, which is surprisingly more time consuming than it looks. And that's the whole Imperial Troop Transport. Does it look like the real one? Sorta. With that economy of pieces? Certainly. But... it's small. It's actually around the right height... about as high as a person standing, a bit taller. On the show, there are three placements on both sides for troopers to ride in (or prisoners to be transported in) and this model only has two per side. Big drawback: there's no interior. But I guess the general shape is represented with pretty small pieces and simple slopes. If you can squeeze those 4 studs into the crate, great. Slide the cargo crate in the middle (always nice to have more of those) and the troopers pit more or less easily into their placements. If they are holding guns, particularly stud shooters, it is cumbersome to align them in properly. Very few spare pieces left over, but I do like me some extra x1 white round studs. You can turn them into jogan fruit. :D All together, here's the side view... ... and the front. Neither side is a beauty, these ITT blobs look best at an angle. It's a surprisingly sturdy build though, all together. Here's a look at the underside. This kit comes with enough 1x2 trans clear bricks to make some people happy... about 6 or so in total I think. Here are a couple of my improvements: First of all, give these troopers some proper blasters. Second, that turret on top doesn't look right. Not a fan of the flick fires on something so small. So with two black lightsaber hilts, I switched around the turret a bit in the hopes that it looks a *tiny* bit more screen-accurate. Ratings: Personally, I love this kit because the price is great for the number of troopers you get... and I don't mind the Rebels-era stormtrooper helmet variant. Some people do, though. They don't like the shape of the mouth and I can understand that. I'd also read that some don't like how pronounced the blue grill details are on the sides of the mask. Well here's a bit of a perspective: I have a number of "vintage" stormtroopers from various sets all the way back to 1999 and the printing on stormtroopers then was terrible. Here's a comparison: Yes, there's a huge gap in printing between the "teeth" of about a dozen of my Millennium-era troopers (above, right) and it looks sad. I have all of them assigned to the bowels of the Death Star and on board the ISD so that most people don't see them. Compared to these old dudes... four troopers for fifteen bucks, IMO this kit is a no-brainer. Snap these up on sale! I plan to get at least two more next sale and then I'll store some away for future gifts. I can only hope that the episode 7 kits coming out are this generous in an offering - 4 troopers for $15 is a great deal. You can never have too many troopers. ;) Can you? Parts: 9/10 Decent! These are useful slopes and bricks in grey, a few clear pieces and grey plates. You could probably do a lot with this pile of pieces. Price 10/10 Absolutely stellar. Bring a shopping cart when these are on sale... unless you only can stand pure original trilogy stormtroopers. Build 8/10 It's okay... I built two of these and got lost briefly both times because the pieces looked so similar. Again, the flick fires make me crazy and I had to tweak it right away. Design 7/10 Scale wise: the size of the transport compared with the AT-DP is pretty close to what we have in the show. There is criticism to be leveled here, though. Looking at the wide berth of the transport in the show I think better pieces could have been chosen to create the round front. And I know it needed to be a certain price point but... I dunno. Take out the stud shooters and make it a full stud wider? I would have enjoyed an ITT at a $25 or $30 price point but I'm expecting some clever MOC'ers here to come up with something. Minifigures - 10/10 Awesome. The reason I am doing this review is to give this sweet, misunderstood set for what it is - a battlepack for Imperial Troopers that hasn't been matched since 7667 Imperial Drop Ship back in good old 2007 (OMG it was USD $9.99). I won't ding points for the helmet because it is meant to be a representation of troopers from Star Wars Rebels... and that's how they look. And sometimes It's great to get four-of something in a battlepack instead of two you want... and two you don't. Playability- 9/10 This is a pretty solid set, it looks okay without troopers, great with them loaded and there's a Lothal vibe where they're parked. It's solid and is easy to handle and manipulate. Overall 9/10 My final thought... run and don't walk the next day these babies are on sale. As a Canadian AFL, there aren't that many sets that I feel are of such good value even at regular retail price. If you like the Rebels Troopers, now's your chance to really expand your imperial army. Feel free to add your comments, ratings and why. You can, of course, re-enact some rad battle scenes on top of these transports: "Your master has deceived you into thinking you can become a Jedi..." Rebels Season two can't come soon enough!

[REVIEW] Legends of CHIMA | 70230 - Ice Bear Tribe Pack

Greetings Everyone! As 2015 is making it's way here, it has been predated in many regions with the early 2015 wave of sets. As new product is eagerly welcomed to transitioning shelves, I continually find myself wanting just about everything...but only getting a 'core' few sets that make the season stand out. Honestly, I'm usually a CITY fan, strolling by all the other well founded (STAR WARS), and well placed (Super Heroes figure display), collections for a good ol' helicopter. Or new Great Vehicle. I never really got into the storyline of Ninjago, or felt that drawn in by an animal realm, even though I love biology and exploring local nature wherever I go. Then, as a participant in the 2014 Inside Tour, I felt a slight slide in my demeanor after speaking with Sam (CHIMA Designer) and _______* (Element Designer). *I'm familiar with how her name was said, but have no idea where to begin spelling it, so I will do her the justice of acknowledging her wisdom over her label). Sam was more than happy to talk about some of the neat tricks they'd used to incorporate a different level of play feature into the models. I started to take notice of theoretical functionality in the Con'14 snapshots that trickled out this past summer, and then started to appreciate these creatures for the sculptured detail and personality that went into their creation. That said, I feel 2015 is going to be a pretty good year, and here's why: Set: 70230 - Ice Bear Tribe Pack Theme: Legends of CHIMA Piece Count: 75 +ballast Population: 3 Season: Winter 2015 Wallet Request: USD $9.99 The front of the box has what I assume to be standard artwork for the ongoing battle. From an illustrators standpoint, it's crisp, directional, and neatly combines two contrary forces, fire and ice. Notice the position at which the bear on our left is holding his weapon, that will come up later. LEGO Ink, Flickr The back of the box, however, deviates a little from standard detail and function, instead hinting at a greater battle by addition of set 70224. It reminds me of the older design of boxes and peripheral booklets, where you were given a larger picture of LEGO City/Space/Ocean and you could pinpoint how your little set made a difference in the way everyone else could live their day, or get eaten. I only find this relevant, not because there's not a young child screaming at me but, because from other early 2015 sets I've seen, the image is themed for the set they are boxed with. The LEGO Movie instructions, for example, come with the Green Ninja. LEGO Ink, Flickr The contents yield 2 bags, 1 Instruction booklet, and a banner [The durable plastic commonly used for sailboards, Mater's Glider Wing, etc]. LEGO Ink, Flickr Within the first page of instructions you will find another new trait for 2015 booklets and boxes. This little logo is printed [at least in the US] as an indication of the growing commitment by LEGO to produce the highest quality product, with minimal environmental impact. I have no intention of listing these details for all future reviews, but as LEGO has made the point of taking things up a notch, I feel it should be dually noted. LEGO Ink, Flickr Our three bears, with accompanying brick built weaponry. I took great joy in noticing that each bear has an individually printed: Minifig Head, Mini-mal Head, Torso, and Leg Assembly. After years of finding standardized Fire and Police packs, not to mention generic Minifig selections @ $9.99 for 3 from LEGO Stores,I was pleased to find something that was more than what it was labeled, a parts-pack. This set has already arrived with flair. Take notice in the printing...The three torsos are all obviously the same size, but great illustration has given the illusion of three different sizes, strengths, and personality of bear. This is something that, either I missed or, wasn't present for previous animals. The golden armor gives a feeling of time honored reverence, contrasted to the somewhat varying fur patterns emoting a time honored war. I mean, he's got iced ribs. LEGO Ink, Flickr LEGO Ink, Flickr LEGO Ink, Flickr That gun/bazooka/BFG I spoke of earlier, here it is again. Except this time we're able to see it at the ready. What struck me about thie particular design is that the butt of the gun can be rotated to appropritely fit an altered grip. Whether or not this is the intentional purpose, I feel it adds to the imagined complexity and functionality of the weapon, should it ever become a reality. LEGO Ink, Flickr Now, one of the items we've all been waiting for...the pizza shooter! This element cound have made 7598-1: Pizza Plante Truck Rescue incredibly less complicated, and potentially cheaper. Though I guess you would have lost the top-feed pizza magazine, but I digress. I don't know who is behind the functionality of the new, long missile things, the stud guns, or this tile cannon, but they have made an art of plastic reacting appropriatly to friction. It may be just me. I'm not expecting a childs toy to shoot more than 12 inches. It says, on the box, that children's eyes don't agree with projectiles, so I think that LEGO is somewhat wise to limit their propulsion systems. To adults, its not the firecrcker we would hope to have. To kids, it shoots better than anything I ever had. The other thing that gets me is it's design. It's not some multi-pieced element that went through an assembly to be able to shoot, it's got no moving parts. While I could only guess at the number of mould breaks this thing has, it's a single injection, [highly] modified 1x4 Brick. And the potential uses go far beyond shooting. Looking at it again, if placed sideways, I imagine it to be a beautiful vent system or possibly a window. LEGO Ink, Flickr LEGO Ink, Flickr Upon completion, we have an ice [pizza] cannon, two fortification walls, three warriors, extra ammunition for BOTH firing weapons, and tribal identification. The only other thing they'd need for continued encampment is food. Then again, the one fella does have empty ribs. LEGO Ink, Flickr Ballast - Nothing fancy, but always useful. LEGO Ink, Flickr As a conclusion, I hope you all have enjoyed this overview, as much as I've enjoyed switching themes. I love my CITY, but I saw this box and didn't hesitate for a moment on the decision to buy it. - For a battle pack, this set [as I imagine the others will as well] includes a surprising amount of interest and value. - $$ = 5/5 - $9.99 for three mini-mals, but with the added value of play features, or spare parts. - Play Features = 5/5 - Two friction fire systems and additional weapons. - As this is my first review, I'm not sure what else to judge on, but I am thoroughly enjoying it, and my kids have not hesitated in making sure it's well used.
