A quick foray back into GOH before I start on my SHIPtember build. Somewhere on the Avalonian coast, an old soldier of the Avalonian military is enjoying his retirement. I would like to claim the UOP credits for landscape design, trees 3/3, and for Hydrology, Flowing Water.

My entry into the Desert Kings challenge, opposing the Desert King. The second MOC down is the one I am entering. On his way to visit his friend Eredhalion on Peregrinus, Lord Parimere and a band of his High Council supporters have been captured by a band of the Desert Kings soldiers. Intent on transporting him to the capital for trial for treason against the Desert King, little do the guards realise, they are the ones who are now being hunted. As they approach the Akhenaten delta, the Desert King’s forces are caught in a surprise attack of Lord Parimeres friends and fellow High Council supporters. They managed to free Parimere but are unable to free the rest of the prisoners before the Desert King’s soldiers rally and repulse there attackers, forcing them to flee into the delta. As the convoy approaches Petrea, part of the force of guards departs to swiftly travel ahead to bring news of there coming, the tables are turned and the remaining guards are sent fleeing to the capital by a group of cavalry. Little do they know that the force of cavalry is made up of only three war horses, the rest are steads borrowed from supportive locals, and are just used for intimidation. Anxious to save his honour, the captain of the cowardly guards exaggerates the size of the cavalry, leading the new ruler of Kaliphlin to send his forces to capture a large force of cavalry. Little does he know that the ‘large force’ has already returned there mounts to there local allies. They have already returned to Castle Parimere, hidden near the inland sea.

There once was a tower near a river in the woods of Avalonia, an outpost of soldiers. The outpost is constantly ravaged by nature and bandit raids, so after many years, the commander finally decided that it is not worth the effort or resources and ordered his troops to another location, abandoning the nearly ruined outpost to its fate. Due to its strategic position nearby a busy road, Forestmen wasted no time to take over the abandoned tower. As skilled in stealth and marksmenship as Forestmen are, they aren't expert carpenters or builders, so the tower never reached to its former glory, but after a few repairs and extensions the place became livable enough, as well as allowing its new occupants to flee into the safety of the forest through the bridge if needed. Hey everyone Here is my latest MOC made for GOH.. The Planning Room. Today, members discuss further exploration into unknown lands. A chandelier hangs from wooden supports, as well as the colours of Avalonia, dark and light green. Members discuss exploration A once great leader As always, all constructive criticism is welcome. Thanks, ~Pat

Hey everyone Decided to build a section of a library for GOH. The first floor has some bookshelves, desk and a statue. Second floor is more of a "cat-walk", which displays shields, weapons and the colors of Avalonia. As always, both positive and negative criticism is welcome. Thanks all for reading/viewing. ~Pat

Hey everyone After settling in the furthest west of Avalonia, these three set up a small house close to the cliff edge. The Avalonian colors fly near the entrance of the house (And as decoration at the bottom). Still new to the land, they take their time exploring different locations and plan to expand their settlement here. As always, all feedback is welcome! A closer look at the landscape and front of the building. Looking forward to posting more here in Guilds of Historica. Thanks all for your time! ~Pat

Here is the last part of my Frozen Beyond participation : The last outpost : The 2 other parts of the story are : Snow in the Enchanted Forest ?! Mom is really angry ! After a while rebuilding the old border outpost between Falahuas and Circardia, Walaheria and Faladrin reinforced their position just in time to see the Algus last attack begin ! They were just 4 of them but there was an Algus sorcerer with them ! The sorcerer brand his staff and threw ice bolts at the door of the outpost. The door was near to break when Faladrin and Walaheria ordered the couterstrike ! - Come on guys ! Don't let those abominations break the door ! Throw them the flamable oil ! Bring me some fiery arrows ! Noihe and a guardsman put oil on fire and dropped it to the Algus. Walaheria spoke some elvish words and her sword blew a fiery wind upon the Algus ! And they were over... Every Algus in the Enchanted Forest was melted ! Thank you for reading. Some Bonus Pics : The Bad guys : The Great heroes : At last I could finish this contest ! There are so many great entries, I am pretty sure I can not pretend to any prize (especially in the Cat A !) but I wanted to make the full contest ! And yes ! it's done ! And I enjoyed building out of my comfort zone ! (Especially in the Cat B, I had never built a beast before !) Thank you Ecclesiastes to organise this contest and good luck everyone !

In times of famine and food shortages, most Avalonians stayed in Avalonia, peacefully tilling their fields, harvesting crops, or hunting animals. Gremlon and Elisa, however, decided to deal with the food shortages in a different way. As such, they went to a small isle in Nocturnus... ...to raid the homes of the evil Nocturnians to get food for the more-deserving Avalonians! I decided to take a bit of a different approach to the challenge, as you can see . Note that though I'm an Avalonian, this MOC is set in Nocturnus - hence the colors and fairly dark overall look. Thanks for viewing! You can see more pics in the flickr album.

Before the war, life in the isle of Morkerna was simple. Everyone lived peacefully, and the town was reasonably safe. And I was innocent. I was a young girl with few worries. I was happy. Isolated as it is, I had hoped that the war wouldn't affect Morkerna much. Indeed, at first, it seemed as though life would go on as normal. But the war affects everyone, and avoiding it can only delay its effects. The impact was subtle at first: a few men gone to battle, an old knight killed. But as time went on, the war began to change Morkerna even more. The atmosphere became tense; nobody felt safe, and it seemed like a fight could break out any minute. People that I knew began to be killed. Life had changed. After a month, I realized that I needed to do something. One day, I saw children walking down a road pushing a catapult, preparing to fight. When I returned home that night, I found my parents dead, killed by supporters of the Desert King. That was when I realized that if I didn't get involved in the war, everyone would be changed for the worse. I joined the armies of Ulandus and went into battle. We went through many battles, large and small... Along the way, I met a wizard named Gremlon. I took up his offer of protection, and he saved my life during a failed siege. But all the same, I do not trust him; he is too unwilling to share information. It feels as though there is something he is hiding from me, and it worries me. The war, ultimately, has destroyed my life. In the past, I had hoped to be a simple townsperson, living in Morkerna without having to worry about war. Now, with my parents dead, I must fend for myself, while figuring out how to deal with Gremlon. ___ Enjoy! You can see more photos on the flickr albums: 1 2 3

After fulfilling his contracted task on the enchanted forests of the west region, Adam and Terryn started their return trip to Albion. They’ve been riding for 3 days and are now on BlueWater Castle region. The castle and the surrounding lands belongs to Sir Bridger and his beautiful daughter, Lady Melissa. Adam, but specially Terryn, are tired and in need for a resting place. Maybe Sir Bridger would welcome them on his castle to spend the night? Perhaps they could even get a chance to meet Lady Melissa and her legendary beauty… Hey guys, I was going to post these MOC on History Forum, but I thought it would fit well on the West Region of avalonia, my current Guild as it is home to mighty stone castles. Also, can I somehow put the castle on Avalonian map? Is that possible? I consider myself a castle builder, but I have never build a castle in the real sense of the word, so I thought it was about time I build one. As I’m working on a big display to my LUGs expositions (Comunidade 0937) and having access to a lot more parts I could go a little wild. :) This MOC stands on a footprint of 4x3 (48x48) baseplates and is more than 3 feet high. I had a clear idea of what I wanted to do since the beginning, but of course some modifications and adjustments were made along the build, such as the positioning of the various towers on the main walls or the shape of the half-timbered sections. A few facts and thoughts that I would like to share: - Its viewable from the 4 sides and completely modular so it can easily be transported. - Despite having access to more parts, I still had some limitations. So, for instance, I had to use more LBG 1x2 plates and 1x2 masonry dark tan bricks on the walls that I wanted but nevertheless I think it turned out Ok all the same. - The colors used on the landscape terrain are not the ones that I would like to use, but again, due to its size, I had to use more common ones. - I build this at home and took me about 250 hours in 50 or so days to build this MOC. - I have no idea how many parts it’s made off! If someone as a rough idea, please let me now. But I can tell you that just on the landscape alone and on the castle interiors I used around 10000 2x4 bricks of various colors and on the walls I used at least 4000 round 1x1 bricks. - The landscape was not my priority as it will sure suffer some changes and adding’s when integrated on the full display so I spend just 5 days on it and is not yet as I want him to look. - Also, the trees are somewhat simple as I need them to be brickbuild (for easier transportation and also due to time restrictions) but I kind like them that way. - Naturally, I’m a BIG noob in taking good pics and these are total crap (overexposed, poor lighting, poor focus). Taking reasonable ones was a huge #$#/&%$ pain and in my opinion it looks so much better in person :) Hope you all like it. It sure was an immense fun to build these one :) I will try to upload more pics in a few days before I get this huge thing in card boxes :) BlueWater Castle BlueWater Castle BlueWater Castle

This post has been changed to a rules thread for Category C. Please ask your rules questions here. Here is a link to the "Game Thread" which has the links to the current mini-challenges / warzones. +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_ Change Log: Mar 3 -- Added that every build must have two approvals from seasoned builders. Any builder with a GOH Tag may give a thumbs up approval. Added Victory Points chart and map. Mar 5 -- Clarified rules about guerrilla and counter MOCs. Clarified rules about approval system. Thread Title Tags added. Mar 7 -- Clarified Guerrilla Building - you call the location, cities(spaces that have multiple victory points, even if the city name is not on the map) must have multiple attacks per week equal to their victory points in order to have a successful attempt. Naming convention added for Guerrilla and Counters. Mar 25 -- Guerrilla Rules fixed Mar 27 -- language about safe zones extended to successful GAs (as intended by language already in the document about failed counters later on) April 1st -- Clarified language changed pictures. April 2nd -- Clarified counters further (using rules discussed in the thread) April 6th -- reiterated approvals. And changed going forward. Category C – The Dynamic War and Map Challenge. Category A and B of the next challenge will be similar to the past, however Category C is all new. I think there is something here for everybody. Think of this challenge as Team Iron Builder + Historica + Wargame First I will give a quick version of the rules (for you who are tired of reading!), and then a detailed version. NOT THE OFFICIAL MAP, just for demonstration. warmap by skaforhire, on Flickr Step 1: Choose sides Step 2: mini - challenges on the map are declared, using the map grid. Sea above. Step 3: Each mini-challenge has parameters and last two or three weeks. Step 4: After the due date, the entries are put into a voting tab, and all of EBs can vote for which side won the battle. Step 5: Winner (except where noted) gets to choose the next battle site according to the rules. Step 6 repeat, and multiple mini challenges, with different due dates will be happening at once. Step 7: at the end of three months points are tallied. Each square is worth at least one victory point, squares with cities are worth 2 victory points, battles won are worth 1 victory point. Queenscross, Sultans Gate, Barqa, and Xersia are worth 3 points each. Petraea is worth 4 victory points. Step 8 – Winner is the side with most victory points. Caveat: There is another way to “win squares” called the personal challenge, this is described in the detailed rules. +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_ Category C The dynamic war and Map Challenges: Kaliphlin is divided by 3 powers, the High Council, The Desert King, and the Ulandians – Builders have a chance to declare for a side before the war begins. We may have to balance sides. As the war progresses, all late-comers are put on the weaker team. The map marks where the powers currently hold position. THE BATTLES Every week at least two zones will be up for grabs. (If it is popular, we will scale it up to 3 or 4 zones). I will put up a theme or mission, a little backstory, and a small geography lesson about the area so that the builds will have a general cohesiveness. Each challenge will be somewhat unique, but we will announce ahead of time “Major Battles” that builders have 4 weeks to prepare for. The minimum build time for a mini-challenge will be 2 weeks. Builders will make a MOC located in one of the zones (stated clearly in their post). Each builder may build one MOC per zone / per challenge. The build doesn’t have to be combat, it could be a supply train, or something else that fits into the theme given for the mini-challenge battle. JUDGING At the due date, I will compile all the builds in a voting thread, all EB members are welcomed to vote for which side won. People will be told to vote on their favorite build and which side won overall. They will be instructed to vote according to build and story, but not photography. Sometimes there may be certain judging qualifications needed specified. For example, if one side has an overwhelming amount of builds, we might ask that when judging, members should only consider the six best builds from each side. PERSONAL RANKS: On each side of the battle, winner, second, third, fourth, and fifth will receive points toward their “rank” in the war. All builders receive a base 2 points per build. There will be a rank system custom to each side. The ranks / point totals / will help determine a overall Winner of Category C. PICKING THE NEXT BATTLE ZONE When not stated otherwise, the highest scoring builder from the winning faction will decide which zone to move to the next week . It is advised that they coordinate with their team though. The wining builders should submit their target in the thread they post their build, so that we can immediately get started on the next mini-challenge if they win. They could move the battle to any “no-man’s land” zone, or any zone that directly touches their team’s territory that belongs to an enemy or to no-man’s land that their territory borders. For purposes of choosing, all nine squares around a zone are considered touching or bordering. warmap by skaforhire, on Flickr For example, if the red faction won the last battle, they could choose many different places on this map. They could pick H9, H10, J11, K11, or B10 for example because each of those spots fit the description of eligible battle zones. There are also many more on the map not named above that fit the parameters. The red leader could NOT pick I7 because it is not within one square of territory they own. (it is two no man’s land squares from Red territory. The red leader could NOT pick D5, because it is in the middle of Blue Territory. Lastly, some zones will be off limits, these zones will be marked in another color. Any zone in which a battle (Warzone or successful Guerrilla Attack) has just concluded, or concluded the week before is “Safe” from battle. This includes zones conquered through decisive victories, but not overwhelming victories (see special circumstances section below.) IF we get a situation where only two factions can reach a location (No no-man’s land to cross, or the third faction’s territory touching the warzone), then we may open up a “ flash war-zone”, where everyone can participate. This zone’s winner would not pick a new location. The challenge would continue, with most Sundays ending at least one mini-challenge. They will overlap one another, so that two challenges are going at all times. SPECIAL CIRCUMSTANCES: If a side builds more MOCs than the other two sides put together, and they win the challenge, then the second place scorer from the side can pick an additional square worth only one victory point that borders the battle zone, and claim the territory as an “overwhelming” victory. If one side wins 60% of the popular vote in a three way battle, or 75% in a two way battle, the second place scorer from the side can pick an additional square worth only one victory point that borders the battle zone, and claim the territory as an “Decisive” victory. +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_ Hey, I don’t like making war MOC’s, this sucks! Well, there is a part of this challenge just for you! The Personal Challenge! (AKA Guerilla Phase) The Guerrilla Phase! This is worth 3 individual points in the rankings. Each builder can pick a location anywhere in a territory outside their faction and take a “guerrilla action.” Each builder can make one guerrilla action each week. It should be clear in the post where the action is happening. Guerrilla actions cannot happen in a zone that is off limits (Zones that recently changed hands will be off limits for two weeks, and will be clearly noted on the updated map.) IF attacking a city with a Guerrilla action, there needs to be at least the number of Guerrilla builders equal to the number of the Victory Points the city is worth. (IE: Queenscross is worth 3 VP, so in one week three MOCers from an enemy faction would need to coordinate their strike in order to make a valid attempt on the city) In a multiple Guerrilla Action against a zone, ALL GAs must win in order to turn the zone over to the attacker. (Personal ranking points are awarded no matter the outcome of the square.) The guerrilla action would be something to affect that area. It could be repairing a war-torn village, conducting a raid, a spy job, a hostage rescue, a mission to sabotage the other side, recruiting, anything that is not directly a battle between two sides. The builder would create this MOC, and then prepare for others to “Counter” it. 'Guerrilla Action MOCs require the same approval as battle MOCs. So make sure to have a good story, a well photographed build, and make it obvious that this isn’t a quick building with figs on a baseplate. It should be clear that effort was made in the build. At the end of the week, on the map I will mark where Guerrilla actions have been discovered. The counter-action – Each builder can make one counter-action a week, and this action is taken against any Guerrilla action in their territory. A counter-action is when a builder picks one of the sites of the last week’s guerrilla action that occurred in their faction’s territory, and builds a MOC to reverse it. This is worth 4 points. The challenge is, the build must be similar (think mirror building, but you can reinterpret the build) to the guerrilla attack. (IE: if the guerrilla builder made a farm, and set it ablaze, the counter attack should show the same farmstead [doesn’t have to be exact, but an interpretation of the farm] in transition back to working. Rebuild it, garrison it, etc…) Counter actors should make it known that they plan on countering a guerrilla in their territory so that there are only a few people working on a counter (that way your team can counter multiple threats). Counter builds cannot be larger than the Guerrilla build they are countering. The guerrillas build will be presented against the counter-builds in a general voting thread. If the guerrilla wins, that zone will turn over to their side and the builder earns an addition 6 personal points. All Guerrilla Builds should have their own thread, with a link posted in the Category C thread. The naming convention for Guerrilla builds from this point on should be: [G: Location, your faction vs the owner of the zone you are attacking] ie: [G:J13, DK vs U] Counter builds should look similar: [CG: location, your faction vs the guerrilla's faction] IE: [CG:J13, U vs DK], This naming convention will help us straighten out where things are happening. Counter-builders have at least a week to counter a guerrilla MOC. Their week starts the Monday after the Guerrilla MOC is posted and ends on the next Sunday. (IE: if the Guerrilla MOC is posted on Monday, the deadline to counter would be TWO Sundays from that Monday, whereas if the guerrilla MOC was posted on a Sunday, the deadline would be the NEXT Sunday) All counters should be posted to the Guerrilla Build's thread. The Guerrilla attack thread will be checked on Monday of the next week to compile all counter MOCs for voting. All cities (any place with multiple VP are cities on the map - check smaller Nice Marmot maps for details which city is where) have three weeks of counter time. Any zone deeply in enemy territory (More than two zones deep in all directions, including water) will have two weeks of counter time. Any zone in the "Special victory condition" area of the Desert King would also get two weeks to counter, since these are worth a lot at the end. GAs that go uncontested will be awarded to the attacker. This includes zones with multiple attacks. IE: If a zone is Guerrilla Attacked with two MOCs and the defenders only counter one of the MOC, the attackers win. Special rule: Failed Countered territories can immediately be guerrilla attacked the next week by the team that lost the territory. This gives the old team a second chance to get a valuable territory back. A failed counter is anytime the defender loses after a counter attempt is made. Uncontested GAs do not earn the same protection as a successful GA that was challenged and won. (IE: they are not protected from the third faction for two weeks) Attacks by all three factions -- In a 1 Guerrilla v 1 Guerrilla v defender zone situation there are two ways to resolve the outcome. If the defenders can create a counter MOC that takes care of both Guerrilla Attacks, then they can counter with just one MOC. In this case, the three MOCs will go head to head to head. If multiple "dual counter MOCs" are made, then the judges will be asked to apply the best counter (in their opinion) against the other two GAs in the head to head to head poll. If multiple single MOC Counters are made, and both Guerrillas win, then the next week both guerrilla action MOCs will go head to head, winner takes the square. If only one guerrilla MOC wins, the next week it will go head to head against the winning counter of the other GA. Personal points chart: Guerrilla Attack Build: 3 points. Requires 3 approvals Counter Attack Build: 4 points. Requires 4 approvals. Uncontested win by a Guerrilla Attack: 2 points. Contested Win by a Guerrilla Attack: 6 points. Best Counter (If the counter attackers win): 3 points +_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_+_ Finally, there will be a thread for each mini-challenge battle. This is where you report your separate thread that you posted your challenge entry in. Also, you should state where the next target is if you win. Again, teams should talk about possible targets so that they are declaring similar targets when they post their build. We will take whatever location the winning builder picked, even if their entire team picked another location. For Guerrilla actions, the builder should make a separate thread that displays their attack the thread should start with [Guerrilla] then title. Factions may want to start a general thread to coordinate their team for Category C, and even the other two categories. actions for points by skaforhire, on Flickr End game – at the end of the three months, the squares will be tallied, and this will go into deciding which side won the overall civil war. Each square is worth at least one victory point, squares with cities are worth 2 victory points, battles won are worth 1 victory point. Queenscross, Sultans Gate, Barqa, and Xersia are worth 3 points each. Petraea is worth 4 victory points. Below is a map with the locations that are worth more than one victory point. SPECIAL: Since the Desert King starts with a lot less victory points, they have a special condition. At the end of the war, if they control squares, A12, A13, A14, A15, and B12 they achieve a victory condition called "Keeping the Supply Line open" This is worth 15 points in the end of war tally. To keep the process running, voting threads will have all available MOCs present, even if they have not received their two yet. The Serpent’s Crawl. (Challenge IV Prelude, Chapter 4) Previous Prelude chapters: Chapter 1 Chapter 2 Chapter 3 The Serpent’s Crawl. Fred’Ae Farsin was praying that this strong wind kept its force throughout the rest of the afternoon, he had not sailed this quickly between Berigora and Ras-el-akhen since the time he was caught with a typhoon to his back. With the time he was making, he almost sailed north to check out the wares at Mpya Stedor, but he did not know what effect the Great Disturbance had had on that city, and decided to stay his present course. It was odd, a minor tsunami had hit the region known as Peregrenis, but the bay that Berigora is settled in received minimal damage. However, reports had already flooded in from the mainland stating that not only was the Tsunami much greater there, but volcanic eruptions and an earthquake that lasted for hours had decimated much of the Kaliphlin landscape. Well, that was unfortunate, but good ol’ Fred knew profit where profit could be had, and natural disaster screamed gold duccats. He had loaded up his PGTC vessel, the Walrus, with foodstuffs, and decided to sail right for the middle of Kaliphlin in the hope to unload quickly before others took up the task too. This wind was a true blessing. It was getting to be late afternoon when one of his sailors screamed “Land Ho!” This was strange, as Fred had cut out wide from the mainland, hoping to just skim the Void Tide – The no man’s land of the Southern Ocean – and still take advantage of the off coast winds. This meant that he should be out of sight of land. Perhaps his Crossstaff was broken? He ran to the helm and gasped. crawl by skaforhire, on Flickr Across the water in front of him from north to south, as far as his eyes could see, lay a large piece of land. The rock formation seemed covered with fresh grass, as if it had been there years, and the formation twisted and turned, but remained north and south oriented. It reminded Fred of a large snake made of rocks, cliffs, and sea caves. As he sailed closer he noticed a wrecked ship among the rocks. The poor saps in that crew must have approached this area at night and missed this new formation altogether. Although he was unsure of it, he knew that this formation had something to do with the Great Disturbance. If he had to make a wager, he would say that all of this had to do with some sort of ancient magic. His thoughts turned to his current predicament. DSC_3867 by skaforhire, on Flickr He sailed closer to cliffs to investigate the wreck. There were no survivors. It was at this point that he saw what seemed to be the last light of day shining from within the sea caves. There must be a way through!!! Fred’Ae Farsin swallowed hard and gave the order to sail for the largest cave. If he found a navigable way through the caves, he would be a very rich captain indeed. DSC_3872 by skaforhire, on Flickr And so it was that Fred’Ae Farsin was the first man to navigate the Serpent’s Crawl, the new land bridge that must have been created by the Great Disturbance. Not only had the University of Petraea credited him as the first navigator of the sea caves, but he also has been credited with naming the new formation. Of course, Ol’ Fred soon quit his job and became a pirate in that same sea cave. That is truly a way to make money in this dire time. ------------------- On a OOC note... I had to put together a build to introduce the next story portion. I am not the best Micro builder, if anyone else wants to do a take on this story, I will gladly add your builds too! Oh yeah! Rebuilding What Once Was (Challenge 4 Prelude, Chapter 2) Chapter One The thunderous sound of the earth roaring seemed to last for hours in Kaliphlin. Not only did the Lone Mountain explode, but the force of the tremor was felt as far away as Mitgardia. Much of Kaliphlin was shaken, and many places suffered catastrophic damage. The newly rebuild city of Sultan’s Gate was not spared the wrath of the “Great Disturbance” (As it has come to be known). However, as the dust cleared and those who were spared began shifting through the rubble, treachery has surfaced! One of the housing districts that seemed to have sunk into the ground during the quake, was sabotaged! It soon became apparent that Drow tunnels were dug under Sultan’s Gate. For what purpose, we many never know, but the culprits have seemed to have abandoned their plans now. Sultan’s Gate is a tight knit community, and soon the rebuilding effort began. Robuko by Picture, on Flickr (NOTE: Thanks to Robuko for building this MOC, when he gets back in town he will probably post this as a separate free build with more close up shots.) Orcs, humans, mummies all work throughout the day to try and clear up the results of the landslip. Some of the newest Petraea General Trading Company contraptions are used in the effort. In this painting we can see the Ornithopter Flying Boat surveying and lifting rubble. At this rate, perhaps Sultan’s Gate will find normalcy in a few months. But something seems to be lurking in the distance, a general feeling seeps over the people, that the Landslip, the earthquake, and the intrusion upon Kaliphlin are all just early warnings to something greater. And… with the new strangers starting to appear in town, from “Ulandia” or “Ulantis” or ”Ulandus”, or something like that, a place no Kaliphlin seems to recall, , one must wonder what this new era may bring. proverb by skaforhire, on Flickr Rebuilding What Once Was (Challenge 4 Prelude, Chapter 2)

Hi guys - here is my assortment of minifig designs for the GOH Anniversary Contest: Kaliphlin: Colour Guard Soldier: Proudly part of the elite guard responsible for displaying and protecting the Kali colours (at least when he's not half asleep...). Assassin: One of the most lucrative killers in the business - with his twin bone knives, he's quick, clean, and quiet. Pit Fighter: Fame and fortune await the victors of the Kali pits - this fighter wants it all. Vinter: The great wine maker - he got tired of making ale in the frozen north and so moved to the warmer climates of Kaliphlin where he developed a series of vintages famous throughout Historica. Mitgardia: Horse Master: People far and wide come seeking the advice of this horse master to solve all their horse training problems. Mountain Man: Several bouts of frostbite has made this Mitgardian impervious to the frigid mountain temperatures. Adventurer: Having little luck in the facial hair department, this hopeful fellow is on a quest to earn his beard. Baker: The family recipes have been passed down for generations, and this dwarf is carrying on the tradition of creating some of the best baked goods around. Avalonia: Avalonian Infiltrator: The drow are on the loose, and need to be stopped. Record Keeper: This scribe keeps careful records of the local laws and histories. Archer: No one can figure out how this sharp shooter can hit his target every time - the guy's missing an eye! Maiden: This curly haired lady devotes all her free time to studing plants, hoping to accumulate enough knowledge to become a great herbalist. Nocturnus: Drakarkan Queen: She rules, alongside the king, under the seas along the northern shores of Nocturnus. Jester: One of the greatest Nocturnus entertainers - you die laughing when head start to roll. The Happy Wizard: Captain of the warship The Smiling Phantom - you'll want to hightail it outa-there if you see his ship out on the horizon (well except, you probably won't see it 'till after it's too late). Warlord Blanche: While Historica will more likely remeber her tirant sister Warlord Baby Jane - Blanche was truely the brains behind the terror that wreaked havoc across Nocturnus - until both sisters seemed to just vanish from history. (These characters were going to be my contribution to the Warlord community build (overtly inspired by What ever happened to Baby Jane), which I will try to complete one of these days... ) Thanks for having a look. A few of these might be recognizable from past builds, but for the most part I had a hoot coming up with some newish, unique-ish characters.

Book II Challenge III Category A Dwarves' Quest: Ancestors and Heroes Joining the Dwarves Disheartened by the Avalonians’ lack of response to the drow threat, Nimueh and Dark make their way north. Soon after crossing the border into Mitgardia, they came across a dwarven clan in the throes of battle preparation. Dwarf Chieftain: We march to war to put an end to the drow scum once and for all. Borders do not concern us. Nimueh: Nor should they. The drow are spreading quickly throughout Historica and need to be stopped. All Guilds should be joining the fight against the Spire and its minions. If you will have me, sir, I would join your war party and give what help I can. Dwarf Chieftain: Hmm… As they say, the enemy of my enemy is my friend. We will have what help is offered, you may join us. The march begins on the morrow; but right now we pay our respects. Here, beneath the Great Falls, lie our clan’s greatest heroes - the valiant fighters from battles past, we hope to do them proud in the days to come. The back of the build (where this particular clan buries their fallen heroes): The front: This was a fun one to do - I had planned on doing the water at the top of the falls, and at the back, using a cheese slope mosaic (like I did at the bottom of the falls in the front), but I very quickly ran out and had to switch to using plates instead. It's amazing how fast certain pieces can be used up, lol. Anyways, thanks for having a look . Comments/critiques are always appreciated.

When this contest was announced, I was really bummed out, as most of my minifigs are a long ways away from me, and I didn't think there was any way I would be able to enter. Eventually, I decided I would make a few figures anyway, just for fun. However, it was way too much fun, and I decided to BrickLink as much as possible (right before Christmas) to make it work. I really wanted to use flesh figures, but thought that yellow-toned stayed true to the CMF line. I also tried to keep the names generic, and the descriptions basic, as that to me is the spirit of the CMF line, as it allows the collector to be more creative with the figures and how they are used. I also tried to take advice others gave me on my last build, that I need to use a better background and/or edit the background. I edited the photo of the overall shot to try and get a feel for it, but I think I need to find some tutorials on how to do it better, as it took WAY too many hours for one picture. Anyway, I hope you enjoy! Criticism and comments are always welcome. Avalonia Vineyard Worker Works in a Vineyard, picking fruit. Always gives each tree a hug after. Albion Heavy Guard Only deployed for the most serious of threats. Assassin A master of disguises. No one would ever suspect a beautiful Avalonian Lady of being an assassin. Flag Bearer Has the great honor of carrying Avalonia's colors during battle. Nocturnus Headsman Some say Nocturnus uses Headsman for as small a crime as petty thievery. Gaoler One of several reasons to avoid imprisonment in Nocturnus. Pumpkin gruel is another. Butcher Because Nocturnus is Vegan free! And any kind of meat is fair game. Warlock Prince Can be killed by no mortal man. Mitgardia Border Sentry The most dedicated snowflake counter you'll find. Housewife Do: Compliment her beard. Do NOT: Mistake her for a man. Drummer Leads troops into battle (and the occasional dance). Deer Suit Guy Hunter Years of experience have taught him that with a proper disguise, the deer come right to him. Kaliphlin Dark Mage Expelled from the University for practicing forbidden magic. Princess Not an actual princess. Only thinks she is one because that's what Daddy calls her. Sell-Sword Protects whoever pays the most! Caravan Driver Rides his camel all over Historica if there's trade to be done.

Not much of a story this time. Phase I can be found here, and the obvious inspiration for the tower itself, Combee's wonderful WoW-inspired Ogre Encampment, is here. I'm still unsure how the legs connect to the tower platform in his; mine is a very shaky connection via hinge bricks. Had a lot of fun trying to figure it all out! Over a year after Ruggezh and Tark of the Grashtaz tribe killed the guards of a small outpost, an Orcish tower had emerged in its place. Moving quickly after the scouts returned with news of their conquest, the Dwarven outpost was demolished, the orcs not even bothering to clear out all of the debris--even building upon it, and displaying the remains of the slain guards. The tree next to the outpost was struck down and used to build the rickety tower, along with several other nearby trees. Emboldened by their success and with a foothold in this mountain pass, the orcs invaded the nearby mining town and became entrenched in the region. The dwarves and humans, however, were already drawing plans to drive the orcs back to the Marches and fortify the southwest... "Alas, poor Thorgal...." They shredded the Mitgardian flag, but the colors still shone brightly! The stump of the tree remains, and a tumble of ruined stone serves as crude steps to the ramp spiraling around the tower. In addition to removing the original outpost (built on a couple 6x12 plates attached via jumpers to the greater base), I rearranged several pieces of the surrounding base, mostly what were meant to be loose stones, kicked around as the orcs built their new tower. See the rest on my Flickr! Thanks for taking a peek!

It's official - my character is Lord Collis Greenplate, protector of the small Avalonian territory of Iremons along the Mitgardian border. "Linda, set patrols through the basements and the tunnels, and Dale, contact the carpenter's guildhall and see what the local chapter would require to hoard our castle. With the those sneaky wretches retaking so much of our country, we must be prepared for their forces to run upon us next." "Shall I double the guard as well, father?" Collis glanced at Linda. Although Collis treated her and Dale as his own son and daughter, he and his late wife had never been close... and the people of Iremons had noticed a certain resemblance between the twins and the castle's former steward. "Gods, no. The garrison already works long enough hours - two weary defenders are easier to take by surprise than one well-rested one. Instead, tell the guards to stay in pairs at all times and equip each one with a horn." "Do you think that, with enough preparation, we can make our castle impregnable?" Dale asked. After a moment of thought, the lord answered his steward as he continued the circuit of the curtain wall. "Son, the purpose of a castle is not to stop an enemy. This is a lesson that all those of noble birth should learn: Whatever its size, garrison or provisions, any fortress can fall to a host with enough power and determination." ~~~ More pics - I took them with a general idea that I could fit some plot to them, but now I don't want to force it. Dale was up to his task - after some haggling, the carpenters set to work on hoardings of Mitgardian lumber along the perimeter of Castle Iremons... all one-and-a-half miles of it. To make it easy for them, I included the notches in the masonry where they can insert the posts (based loosely on a real castle feature... although I have a strange mix of machicolations and traditional battlements here). The perimeter walls of Lord Greenplate's castle are built in a like manner to common retaining walls, rising dozens of feet from steep mountain sides and encircling the more gently-sloped area at the top. I came up with this feature because I realized that I didn't have the parts to build a wall of respectable height from base to battlements, so I decided to throw some landscaping up on top... which was not my smartest move, I'm afraid. In case you were wondering, that's how that tricky curve works. Finally, I would like to claim UoP credit for the following: Architecture - + Wall Technique - SNOTed tile stonework + Round Walls and Towers + Advanced SNOT (believe me, it was a pain to get it right) Military Science - + Fortifications

The hand of the Black Spire has quickly spread across Nocturnus landscape, with more and more towers and fortresses seemly popping up overnight. One of the new defenses for the Black Spire is the Tower of Abaddon, a massive Orc guarded watchtower. No one knows what goes on inside the tower, or how far down into the earth it is nestled but they do know that the Orcs have been kidnapping and holding powerful and knowledgeable Mages from all over Historica. Only time will tell what their true plans are and what evil they are trying to awaken from slumber. Hope you enjoyed my Category B entry! My original plan was to have just the upper round part of the tower, and then it keep growing and growing. I'm pretty satisfied with the end result, especially since it took me completely out of my usual building tendencies and color schemes.

The swamps of Nocturnus have never been safe for travelers to explore and now they are even more dangerous with the war going on. The Black Spire will stop at nothing to win and have recruited only the most cunning and power forces to fight on their side, and no one is safe to step in the lands now. Here's my Category A entry, hope you like it! Working in this size was a great change of pace.

TOPIC LOCKED Use the second quarter registration here. First Quarter Free Build Registration Sept 1st 2013 to March 1st, 2014 (Book II, Quarter 1) What is this thread? This is the thread where YOU register your free build if you wish it to be scored for your guild. Why are you doing this to us? Despite Rogueang’s wonderful MOC index, the guilds project has become quite large. The core leaders feel that we need a self-indexing mechanism that will allow us to grade free builds more efficiently. This is what we have come up with. What do I need to do? Just simply write the following information In a NEW post: Name of Moc with link to the thread | Name of Builder | Guild you belong to IE: Obsidian Spike |ZCerberus | Nocturnus Do not write anything else. What counts as a “Free Build?” Great question! Any GOH build that was not entered in one of the official main challenges or for any official mini-challenge that issued a physical prize. All free builds must have their own thread, and there must be a link to that thread provided here. Do not comment on builds in this thread, please do that on the MOC’s own thread. Can I just post in my guild thread and leave it at that? Whereas you are welcome to do so, if the build does not make it into the index , it will not be scored. Can I put up an entry for another guild member's build? If that builder has disappeared and we are getting near the deadline, this would be allowed.

The flight of the dragons is one of Avalonias newest navy ships, a small carrack. though small and unable to carry things such as siege weaponry, Its fast and agile, and as a troop carrier it does the job well. Legonardo and de Gothia are taking it for its Maiden Voyage. part 1 part 2 part 3 part 4 part 5

Part 4 Lord Artorious Rex was dining in the hall of the dragon with his two friends deGothia and Leonardo when a messenger arrived. He carried 2 letters, one addressed to the leader of Avalonia. Lord Rex took the letter and read it first to himself and then to his companions. The three talked long about the matter, latter that evening, Rex went to a desk and issued an order to all the provinces of Avalonia. Rex's Decree: All soldiers needed to protect and rebuild the damage by Revolword shall stay, but not a man more. All other Avalonian soldiers are to aid the province of Cornovaria in the mysterious disappearance of many of its civilians. Failure to do so is punishable by death. part 1 part 2 part 3 part 5 legonardo
