    LEGO #21344 - Orient Express

Well, the coaches look great. I'm really satisfied with them. The locomotive itself? Based on what I can see it just looks kind of like a generic train. Looks very similar to the two hogwart expresses, or that lone ranger train from a few years back. But, this is lego. We as builders just have to change the template we've been given into whatever we want it to be. They've given us a good start, we just have to finish the job. We just have to throw a bunch of money at bricklink in addition to the money we've already thrown at lego.

    SP1 Galactic Commander (picture heavy)

I've always been a fan of Space Police, and the space theme in general. The 6986 Mission Commander set has received a lot of complaints though. The biggest: "It's big just for the sake of being big!" Well, I decided to redesign it. I made it with the mindset that it will still look like the Mission Commander at first glance, the second glance will reveal so much more. So, I present to you; The Galactic Commander (excuse me for the poor pics. I don't have good lighting) This ship is similar in shape and aesthetics to the Mission Commander set, but at the same time is vastly different. At the front, the cockpit still opens up to reveal a small ground vehicle. The mechanism is still the same, except for the fact I use a much smaller gear track. The entire front section is dedicated just to this mechanism. I guess it is still better than Lego's design of using the entire ship. The midsection contains what is supposed to be a meeting room/command center. The interior is still kind of a work in progress. The rear section is pretty much the same as the original model; except for the fact that the interior to the rear goes straight into the interior to the command room. So, does that mean that the rear no longer detaches? Of course it does. (Note that the little fliers are still on the wings) Of course, it would be silly to have a random opening appear in the back of your ship while out in space. So, both the pod and the main ship are equipped with doors that close off the passageway. These can be closed before you even disconnect the pod from the rear! (for those wondering, the doors fold into the floor when not being used) And lastly, here is the ship without the prison pod on the back. It looks a little naked. And as an added bonus, a new flagship to the SP1 fleet! Thats right! a Galactic Mediator in SP1 colors! isn't it beautiful folks! Hope you enjoyed this small redesign.

    LEGO Trains 2022

I feel conflicted about this set. For starters I think the train is ugly and not a fan of a set in general, but I also feel that if I want to keep the train theme going I am more or less obligated to buy it.
  4. Imagine, something like LDD where you have a table in front of you to build creations, and draws to your side with infinite parts of any type or color for you to build whatever you wish. One thing that had always made me lose interest in building things on a computer is because it just doesn't feel the same, but VR could give an extremely close feeling to what actual lego building is like.
  5. So, I do gaming as well as lego, and I noticed the game "Train Sim World 2" is currently free on the Epic Game Store. I got it, and played a bit, and the amount of detail on the trains is pretty great, and I feel that a simulator like this can help give inspiration for MOCs and layouts. So, I'm not sure if anyone is interested in this, but the game is free for the next week from epic game store, and it could be a good opportunity to find some inspiration.

Has anyone here tried a train simulator?

The last time I saw TTTE in a game he was chasing me through a dark building.
  7. Recently the Disney train came out; The train itself wasn't bad by any means, but I felt left a lot to be desired. I've started modifying mine to make it more like the original CK Holliday Steam Engine. My first goal was to fix the wheels; the original set has both the drive wheels and front bogie spin. The Drive rods didn't really look like much either. So, I would like to present my initial modifications: Probably the biggest challenge with this was making enough room everything; the original wheelsets had to go; also the wheels i chose here are closer to the original train (Even the tan pins match the original train!) I had to make the bogie extremely flat. There is just BARELY enough clearance for the pistons; on a standard lego curve, i have maybe half a plate worth of space between the wheel and the tan round piece. I'm not sure I 100% like how i did the drive rods. I would have much preferred to have something that pumped in and out of the piston, but I couldn't figure out a way to make it work while also keeping the round bricks. Speaking of the piston, I couldn't get the original build to work at all, so I initially grabbed some modified red round bricks with the technic axle hole at the bottom; the ones in the most recent Christmas train. This worked, but didn't quite give the right look. To my great surprise, I discovered there were round 2x2 bricks with pin holes in the side. I ordered these, and they do the job; I still dislike the hole in the side however. The attachment of the pistons to the boiler uses some technic parts to hold everything together. I initially used brick, but it fell off. lastly, here is a view from the bottom of how the front bogie connects. It's basically the same as the emerald night. I also toyed with the reverse pivot method that Jayhurst recently showed off with his newest Big Boy, but it didn't fit well with what I was doing. Anyways, this is just a start; I really want to make this more true to the original CK Holliday. Here is a list of things I hope to fix eventually. The proportions are off; The original train looks longer than this. I want to adjust the train to better fit the proportions of the original. Redo drive rods and pistons. What I have done works, but I feel it could be done better. Chrome the necessary parts; The original train has a ton of chrome gold and grey. Dark tan doesn't replace chrome gold very well. rework the cab; I want to get rid of the giant gaps that are directly open to the drive wheels. I probably should have done this when redoing the drive wheels. redo the Lilly Belle train car. The one in the set looks silly with how short it is. I've ordered the parts, just waiting for them to arrive. Get some custom CK Holliday stickers. Add a light somehow. (probably toss an LED in there) I'm sure I'm not the only one making modifications to this set. I would love to see what everyone else is coming up with, and would also love to see some ideas and suggestions.
  8. I've been thinking about running long trains, and the limitations of lego train motors and other parts. I know there are a few ways to get around these, and was hoping we could all chip in with some knowledge. My first thing I would like to add is info on replacing O-rings! I now a lot of people here know this, and I made this same topic roughly 10 years ago (back when RC trains first came out) but I wanted to say it again. Remove the clear/grey o-rings on the train wheels on your motors. Replace them with 14mm Inner Diameter, 17mm OD sealing gaskets, and watch the magic happen. By simply replacing these O-rings, you get much more grip onto the track and it helps stops the wheels from slipping due to lack of weight. For instance, I have a UP Big Boy that I tried to push with the tender from the Disney train (single PuP motor and battery box). The wheels just slipped in place and couldn't budge the big boy. I then replaced the O-rings on the 4 wheels with the sealing gaskets, and the difference was shocking: Not only could the tiny Disney Train tender push the Big Boy, but it moved reasonably fast, power right through tight lego curves, AND pull 3 train cars and drag the Disney train behind it all. In the past, I modified the Santa Fe Super Chief to work with power functions, and replacing those O rings allowed it to pull all 5 santa fe cars and a few emerald night cars with no issue. And best of all, this isn't an expensive modification. You can get a package of 40 O rings for under $10. That said, I'm just imagining what kind of performance you can get if you add in bearings and lubrication on top of all this... (If someone has experience with lubrication and bearings, please add some info!) (Also, some info on aftermarket powering solutions (sbrick, fx brick, buwizz, etc would be nice)
  9. Wow this is so nostalgic! I've been looking at old commercials too. There is one I've been looking for but can't find. It was an explorien/spyrius one that involved the explorien starship crashing into the big spyrius robot My bad I suddenly found it
  10. Several days ago I had to evacuate my home due to wildfires. Its very likely I will lose my house, and everything in it, which includes all my legos. When I make a claim, what is the best way to determine value of it all and present it to insurance so I can replace what was lost?
  11. So in an ideal situation I should have a photo and Inventory of every set I own?

    Super Mario 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

I finally was able to contact Lego about my defective Mario. I showed them over the phone the issue it was having. They are going to have me return the defective one and send me a new one. They said it will take a while (more than a month) since the part has to come directly from Denmark.

I'd love to see a ucs Bowser build based on giant Bowser from the games. It could even have Mario functionality with barcodes on it's head, back, and arms

    Super Mario 2020 - Rumors & Discussion

Im having some issues with lego mario; Just got starter set. The first thing it did was update him. Now whenever I turn him on, he ends up in an endless death loop (Music plays, eyes spin) that I can't seem to stop. restarting him doesn't do it. Starting a course, he just does the "dying" loop the entire time. Any way to fix this? Restarting him does nothing.

Sergio what shelves do you use to display the trains?

    [MOD] 10277 Another crocodile MOD

So these gap hiding mods, do they stop the train from going through curves at all? I just did the above one and it looks very close. Don't have track set up to test now.

    Lego 10277 - Crocodile Locomotive

I got the set yesterday! Thankfully the Lego store was kind enough to save one for me since I had an hour drive to get there. They had sold out during the drive! Still haven't built it but I hope to today

Iso train collisions 6938 vs 60197

What I would love to see is two trains built in such a way that only a handful of studs hold it together and it's mostly tiles like breakaway walls. Then have them so a head on collision and just explode!
