It might be the best MOC ever, but without a single picture, no one may ever know. Even if I knew how to use .lxf files, I wouldn't download and open one unseen.

42056 - Porsche Speculation
rollermonkey replied to Jim's topic in LEGO Technic, Mindstorms, Model Team and Scale Modeling
OK, so the package is 4.8 kg, and if the book weighs significantly more than the flimsy instructions of previous years, that 3.8 kg set weight could be wildly high. I'm just thinking how heavy the books were for recent UCS like Sandcrawler and Slave-1, as well as the books in sets from the Architecture line. They have like 30 pages in the front of the same stuff repeated in multiple languages, and if this is truly the first UCS Technic set, I think we can expect similar treatment of the book. -
Can Any one help me mod my 8098 Clone Turbo Tank (Clone Wars)
rollermonkey replied to shrak's topic in LEGO Star Wars
You could look around and see what other people have done. CTT is a fairly popular vehicle. Many MODs and MOCs have been done of it. Easier to get inspiration from what others have done, than to expect that people can tell you what you want to do. -

3.8 kg is the package weight, isn't it? All it would take to push weight up quickly is a large, higher quality instruction book/manual, like those found in the Architecture line. ...and the simpler packaging is also reminiscent of the Architecture line, too. I don't think we're getting a massive amount of PF, so much as we are going to get a massive amount of extra pages in the instruction manual, containing the history of Porsche plus design and performance info on the specific model in a bunch of languages. -

There's a great teaser for the season finale out now... Goes through Anakin and Snip's history surprisingly thoroughly in just a couple minutes. OMGOMGOMG... I cannot wait.

I'm seeing a mix. Winter some places, what looks like fall harvest others. <shrugs> -
[MOD] UCS Slave 1 (anti-droop/bend when on stand)
rollermonkey replied to ArchieNov's topic in LEGO Star Wars
That is indeed the 'mixel joint MOD' that I did to mine. Works like a charm. -

I would absolutely prefer 'boring' black. Purple or orange would render the new parts that much more difficult to be used in mods and mocs. I like the razzle-dazzle, too. Silver or white would be my 3rd and 2nd choices, so that's why I believe it will be orange or purple. Those are the colors I'm least happy about. -

Call me what you will, but my suggestion is why not leave the LEGO at home and enjoy the trip for what it is? -
Bricklink won't give me a POV of a set!
rollermonkey replied to Nagol of Fortfield's topic in General LEGO Discussion
That link shows me a part out value of just over $150, so I'm not sure what the complaint is. Rather than complain here, why not send a message to the folks at Bricklink? I'm sure you'd have better luck that way. -
I was buying Architecture line stuff, and added a Resistance X-Wing microfighter to the register counter.

They used bevel gears... They are far from sharp. Unless your fingers are made of warm butter, they won't hurt you.

Disney Collectible Minifigures Series 1 Discussion
rollermonkey replied to just2good's topic in LEGO Licensed
I called one thing: All of the Park/Cruise/On Ice/On Tour characters that ALWAYS have big heads are molded heads here, all of the characters that even occasionally are 'face' characters (makeup only, no helmet-head) are standard minifig heads.- 4155 replies

Kallus suggested that the Geonosians aren't dead, but that they left. Not sure if it's what he wants to believe, or what actually happened. I was really surprised that we got some slight redemption of Kallus' character, though. I've said it before, and I'll say it again: Those SW fans who haven't given this show even a glance, decrying it as 'just a kids' show', have REALLY missed out.

[MOD] Wing and landing gear for Kylo Ren's Command Shuttle
rollermonkey replied to Master Chief's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I'm waiting to see a mod that permits a turning crank to deploy and retract the spreading wings together. :) Maybe the scale is too small to fit something like that in there? I haven't had time to even do the simplest version of this mod, though. -
[MOD] UCS Slave 1 (anti-droop/bend when on stand)
rollermonkey replied to ArchieNov's topic in LEGO Star Wars
I did the mod with mixel joints that keeps the sides from flapping out, but that shouldn't have any effect on the droop OP was indicating. I'm going with builder error on this one. -

Even a cursory glance at thread titles would have told you that is common knowledge. Getting a scoop from the LEGO S@H site is never going to happen. -

All I know is that mine has been on its display stand for over a year now, and shows no sign of droop or sag. <shrugs>
