Heh, I also remember the Monster Hunter idea from back then. And yeah, the "Galidor pitch" would be a neat idea for a new constraction theme. I always built my own characters out of the sets I bought, so it wouldn't hurt if TLG would highlight this in some way.
-
I also think they did vary the "Inika Build" a lot in later years, and I always liked it, so it wasn't as bad for me. While build-wise they were better, I have to say in terms of colors the Phantoka Toa were not as good-looking as the Mistika Toa (save for Kopaka, who basically kept his regular colors).
-
Sure, it might be possible that a new Constraction theme will do something different than CCBS, but I would prefer it to evolve from it rather than abandon it right away for the sake of compatibility. How exactly iss CCBS "less stable"? And yes, for a pure MOCist perspective, Star Wars Ultrabuilds are not the greatest parts packs, but some of the sets are still pretty neat, and many of them do get price cuts eventually... Also, what Stash2Sixx said. Stop being so rude and disrespectful. It's really uncalled.
-
This is also the reason why I'd rather see Mixel Joints integrated into the Technic/CCBS range rather than the other way around. While it would be intriguing for building, it would ramp up the prices.

That's a great MOC. You managed to find a good balance between poseability and sculpting. -
Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors

Hero Factory was mostly completely new parts though, the amount of Bionicle parts that survived it's end was rather small. Man, I just realized that I still need to get the new Vader and Boba Fett. I might get the Range Trooper as well though, he looks like a good parts pack. -
Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors
ZORK64 replied to VBBN's topic in LEGO Action Figures
I'm not sure how noticeable it has been, but my focus on constraction has been wavering since the end of Bionicle G2, so I almost missed the news that the latest SW Constraction sets got axed. It's sad to see Lego's last CCBS theme coming to an end, but considering that they didn't sell nearly as well as Bonkles (or Hero Factory back then), it's not really a surprise that Lego opts to end the theme. I hope they'll come up with something else constraction-y in the future though. Building robots in Lego is my jam. -

I'd be mostly interested in a regular Battle Droid and especially the Magna Guard.- 21 replies

Future Action and Adventure Themes
ZORK64 replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I have to confess that Steampunk would be a huge turn-off for me. Despite my love for science fiction and machines, there's something about Steampunk that never clicked with me. Probably the over-abundance of copper and the whole victorian theme (and of course, the fact that it's a heavily over-used -punk theme). I think Raypunk appeals the most to me, what with all this glorious 80s cheese, such as bright neon colors and this wild mix of fantasy and high-tech. -
Future Action and Adventure Themes

Alien Conquest was chockful of parental bonuses. The colour scheme of the earth vehicles was a throwback to the old space sets, for example. I think it mostly depends on the approach. Alien Conquest for example was not just nostalgia or 50s B-Movie aliens. It took inspiration from these things, but it still managed to have its own identity that clicked with the target demography. -
In Memoriam: Remembering Nexo Knights
ZORK64 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
I completely forgot to mention that I appreciated the amount of monsters and mechs utilizing Mixel Joints in Nexo Knights. After the end of the Mixels line, I was in a serious need of more of these glorious joints. -
It is? According to the catalogue, it's scheduled for a release this March, and I thought that's at least the German release date - however, the set is also already available in the online store. Well, once I have the time, I'll pay my local LEGO Store a visit, I guess.

In Memoriam: Remembering Nexo Knights
ZORK64 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Oh, I liked the good guys for their space knight theme a bit more than the bad guys. -
I got the new catalogue the other day and since I don't really pay much attention to the licensed sets, it wasn't until I read through the catalogue that I learned that there's going to be a set featuring Lobo and his bike. Since the Main Man is one of my favourite comic book characters, I'm legit hyped for this set.

Star Wars Constraction 2018 Discussion & Rumors

Darth Maul doesn't really interest me, but in terms of build and design, he looks pretty good. -
Future Action and Adventure Themes
ZORK64 replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Both of these ideas sound pretty intriguing, even though I somehow never really got into Power Miners back then. I agree on this. Personally, I'm fine with LEGO keeping their own themes brighter than the licensed ones anyway. -
In Memoriam: Remembering Nexo Knights
ZORK64 replied to Robert8's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Nexo Knights caught my interest for it's healthy dose of interesting constraction monsters, mechs and the blend of space and medieval themes, giving many characters a Space Marine vibe which I really like. As a MOCist, I liked the sets I got for the unique and interesting parts that got produced for the series, but aside from that, I'm okay with the series ending. -
Oh, I need to check if I happen to have those pieces as well. I think I could apply it to some of my Transformers MOCs. And I must once again say that I love the bulky feel of this Exosuit. Really makes me want to mod the ones I got in a similiar fashion.

Lego Transformer - Axcavator (Excavator) animation
ZORK64 replied to David_bricks's topic in LEGO Action Figures
It's great to see more MOCists who try to make LEGO Transformers... which reminds me that I need to start working on my MOCs again so I can upload them here. Have you tried to recreate this design with actual bricks? I'd be curious to find out how stable it is.- 6 replies

I missed out on half of the Mistika sets (I got Onua and two of the Makuta, the green and yellow one IIRC), but my only real gripe with the Mistika were their canisters, which are frustratingly hard to open. They were interesting in terms of design, though I do remember that I missed the fire motif on Tahu a bit.

Oh, that's some awesome custom there. I wish TLG would revisit G1 Bonkles again just to add all those neat little details, so we could get all six Toa with this kind of stuff as official sets.

Really cool MOC! I particulary love the new ankle joints. Would you care to provide some pics on how they are built?

Yes, yes and also yes. I'll admit I mostly want these because they would also expand my options for building Transformers MOCs who are in-scale with actual TF figures, but yeah, others will certainly find also uses for these. I also hope that TLG will make something like this as soon as possible, as I'm somewhat of a purist when it comes to MOCing. Those Shapeways parts are tempting though.
-
I think I already stated that in this thread at some point, but I'd be happy if we would actually get parts that would allow for an easier incorporation of Mixel joints into TECHNIC/Constraction Builds. We have already ball joints that work well with that, but no real sockets. Having another size of joints available without the need to incorporate brick-built structures would certainly open up a plethora of interesting options, both for new sets and MOCing.
-
Considering that we'll get more SW Constraction sets, it's arguably not too surprising that we won't get any new original Constraction line alongside it. Regardless, it would be still a shame if that's really going to be the case.
