CCC XIII The Death of You and Me

Thank you. Thanks for your comment. Yes, you got a point there. But dark bluish gray slopes I have weren't enough to make BURP. So I switched to the light ones.
  5. Hi there! Here is my entry for the CCC XIII. Hope you enjoy... Born as one of the many bastards a King was able to ejaculate into the world, Ganere had spent his childhood within a small clan in the north of Mitgardia. Rejected though, he had his own special character which shone out even in this small clan. When he grew into a young fellow, he had already developed his warrior skills. Yet, there was more in him than just a simple, mighty warrior. He also had the insight to rule. But, there stood a challenge before him: There was nothing and/or no one to rule in this long-forgotten clan in the north of the kingdom, now ruled by one of the legitimate heirs of his father. “He is my brother” he pondered on and on for days. He initially thought of going to the capital and introduce himself to the new King but he forsook. He was a forgotten bastard of a dead King, who had better stay unnoticed. The idea of introducing himself to the new King beat his sense of logic in the end and he found himself mounted on his horse on the way down to the south, where the fate had some surprises for him in store. Having spent almost his entire life in a remote frozen town in the north, the south embraced him with all the generosity it had. This was a dazzling world for a countryman. He was focused, though. He met some of the men who had visited his town some years ago and collected information about the new King. He had never met him. Nor had he seen any picture of him. He had no idea about his looks or characteristics as a human. But there came the first surprise… On the third day of his visit to the capital, he stopped by an inn on the outskirts of the city. He was silently sipping his ale at a corner table when a band of troops rushed in with much ado. They checked inside the inn, disarming each and every one there, including our naive warrior. Then, an exquisite odour filled the inn as the new King and his court entered. The King was on his way back to his castle from a hunting party when he decided to stop and have a rest at the inn. Ganere fell deeper into his chair when he saw the King entering the inn. Could it be? Could there be such a possibility? The King resembled him like a twin, except for the beard he had. Of course, the outfits of the pair were not matching as well, As the first wave of shock wore off, he took another sip from his ale and tried to make a decision on whether to introduce himself to the King or not. But an idea struck his brain like a thunderbolt. He covered his head, turned his back to the court and listened to them carefully. It was nothing important but he caught glimpses of the King’s character and his way of speaking. The King and his court did not stay long and left the inn. But this short and mundane visit to an ordinary inn would have more significant consequences both for him and his bastard brother. When the night fell, Ganere had already began his journey back to hisremote town. His eyes were shining like a triumphant Caesar. On his return, Ganere immediately assembled four of his most royal men and discussed the details of his plan, which popped in his mind the moment he saw the King. They had to wait for the spring when tax collectors regularly paid their visit. On the first days of spring, the snow began to melt and the rivers filled with water, which carried the taxmen on their boats. The humble taxmen guarded by another boat of troops were used to collecting the tax without any trouble in this area. They collected the tax without any problem that day and were invited for the dinner. They accepted this offer with delight and postponed their departure to the next day, which they would not see dawning. As glasses of wine were tossed, the attack began in the cramped town hall filled with smoke. The result was the slaughter of all but one troop who was spared to deliver the news of the rebellion to the King. It took 7 days for the un/fortunate troop to reach the capital and deliver the news about the massacre to the King and his council. The King was much surprised and could not understand why such a small clan would start a rebel. They must have known that they would be crashed easily and without any hassle to the King and his army. After discussing the situation with his council, the King decided to embark on a mid-size military expedition to the north. After all, it was just a small town, far from any other town which might come for help. Indeed, it was not the expedition that was on King’s mind but the tasty deer of the north which were a real joy to hunt. It all happened within a month: The King marched on with his army and crashed down this rebellious little town and butchered several men in return for his beloved taxmen. But there missed the head of the rebellion. That culprit was nowhere to be seen. He had abandoned the town days before the King’s army arrived. But this was an insignificant detail for the King, who enjoyed a few weeks in the town, around which he hunted the most delicious deer of Mitgardia. He had no idea that he was watched from a distance by four men who had taken refuge in a small cave overlooing the town. The King was bored with hunting after weeks of hunting. He missed the joys of the castle in the south but did not want to take the journey on horse back. So he decided to return by boat and ordered his noble men to take the army back on foot. Two boats were prepared and the King left the town next day. Ganere and his men, who had been carefully watching the actions down the town, hurriedly rode back to the capital to catch the King and his troops at the outpost they thought the King would use to enter the city. It had a narrow bridge and was small enough for an ambush. They arrived on their exhaused horses which were left in the woods and headed to the outpost in the dark of the night with almost no sound. The plan was simple. They would pass the swamp at night and open a hole under the outpost. They knew that guards were less careful during night in this peaceful kingdom. And the King never told anyone which outpost he would use to prevent any assassination. Ganere had to rely on his luck on whether the King would use this outpost. But there was one thing he did not leave up to chance. It was his beard. He had grown a beard all winter, which filled the last gap in his resemblence to his noble brother. As they waited for any sign of the King, they heard that familiar sound of the horseshoes. One of his men checked and confirmed that it was the King who had landed and taken the dead body of one of his aides with him. The ambush was about to begin. The original plan had worked out very well until now. It was much easier to ambush a small group of guards than an army. There Ganere had his outfit packed in a bag and the crown in his hand. He would kill his brother and replace him. It was a strange feeling, he thought. He was about to kill his brother and by the time he died, it was going to be the death of himself as well. He would never return to who he once was and pretend his whole life. So one of his men heard him mumbling..”This marks The Death of You and Me, brother… 1p by Mengish, on Flickr 2p by Mengish, on Flickr 3p by Mengish, on Flickr 4p by Mengish, on Flickr 5p by Mengish, on Flickr 6p by Mengish, on Flickr 7p by Mengish, on Flickr 8p by Mengish, on Flickr

PAB Cups: What Did You Get?

I have searched Wall of Bricks but couldn't find any info on the current stock of PAB walls in LEGO stores located in Vienna. Anyone been there recently?
  7. Ahoy Mates!!! Here comes my small MOC for the contest and my even smaller story accompanying it. Classis Pirates: A map, treasure chest, greed, betrayal & blood. Having shared years in a damp pirate ship, these two crooks found themselves on a small island in the Atlantic Ocean with a map. The map had one red spot on it, which would bring them to their fate. An ill fate… They got grip of the map through a series of classic intrigues. One night after a pillage in a village the captain returned to the ship with a map hidden in his pocket. He was given the map by the priest of the village who begged to be spared. He offered a treasure map in return. The captain gladly accepted the offer before he stabbed the priest. “This was a wicked world” he thought, as he headed to the boat that would bring him back to the ship. He listened in complete silence of the others’ bestialities. He was eager to get back to his cabin and learn about what the map held in store for him. When they boarded on the ship, he sorted out all the procedures to be conducted after a pillaga: The sharing process of the loot. He even demanded less than he would have, just to make it to his cabin. Once he got to his cabin, he ordered not to be disturbed until morning. He threw himself on his silk upholstered chair and laid down the map before him. After a few minutes examination, he grinned with satisfaction. He took a sip from his favourite rum and fell into a sound sleep. But it was so sound that he would never return to the world of the living. There was one thing he was not aware of: That he had been followed by one of his men all the way from his encounter with the priest to the last sip he took of his rum. This was the humble cook of the ship who had gone to the shore just to be able to have a share in the loot. Having learned about the existence of the map, he hurried to the captain’s cabin before him when they returned to the ship. The captain was busy sharing the loot, which enabled him to pour some poison into his favourite rum. But he had to be sure so he poured more into other bottles as well. When it was 2 in the morning, he glided into the captain’s cabin. Silent as a rat, he checked the captain’s dead body, which was stone cold already. Now it was time for him to grin. He checked all his pockets but the map was nowhere to be seen. He checked all the drawers and everything else but it was not there. As he was leaving the cabin, he noticed a rat running down into a hole in the middle of the cabin. He could still hear it squeaking, which was strange because it had to be gone. But it was still there. Suspicious, he knocked on the old, stinking wood. It was sure hollow. Knocing once more carefully, he began to feel the edges of an opening lid. He removed the beautiful Turkish carpet covering it and there it was. He opened it and went down to a small niche. It was pitch dark so he had to bring a candle to illuminate it. Once the niche was illuminated, he could hardly stop himself from giving a shout of happiness. There were jewels and gold in a pot. But better, a map with a red cross on it, which had only one meaning in the world of pirates. He spent the next few days with the crew investigating about the death of the captain, which ended up fruitless. The crew was just as crooked that no one cried after their not-so-beloved greedy captain. They were back to their daily routines with their new captain. But the cook had other plans. He studied the map on and on and, finally concluded that he needed help. But who could he trust? This was a pirate ship and he knew, as he knew himself, that it was full of indecent men. But he could choose a naive indecent crook. This was the helmsman who did know nothing but to steer a ship. He had a straight forward way of thinkg and could be the best prey for the cook. Knowing that he liked rum as the captain did, the cook approached him on a calm and hot night with two bottlles of rum. After a few hours, he was grinning again with pleasure. He had persuaded the fool into his plan to leave the ship when they get near to the treasure island on the map. This would take a month or so, though. But he was a patient man. Twenty-eight days later, they were passing by Nassau when he opened up to the newly elected captain about his plans to resign. The captain of course did not demand a signed petition but thew him into the first boat to go to the shore for provisions. The helmsman was there, too. The two tricksters bought a small vessel in Nassau, filled with provisions that would suffice for a week. It was a few days trip to the island, he had calculated. The season for such a trip was favourable with southern winds helping all those going to the north of Nassau. Before they set out, the crook cook had to make his plans ready for the next phase. They had bought guns and swords just in case they needed. Trying to get the helmsman believe in him, he handed over the two guns to him. And he took the swords. The helmsman, happy with his companion, took their small vessel safely to the treasure island. The cook, by the way, studied all the route because there would be only one on this small vessel on the way back. They reached the small island on a sunny morning. Eager and cheerful, they landed in a hurry. The island was so small that it was not difficult to find the spot. They dug together and cried out loud when they heard that classic sound of the spade hitting the chest. It took two more hours to finally get it out of the sand. Now, there came the second phase of the plan: to get rid of the helmsman, who would be of no importance, value or whatsoever from this point on. “Hey, can you check the hole we dug for a second chest?” asked him. The naive helsman turned back and hardly took a step forward when he heard the jingling of a sword, of which he was very familiar. He immediately reached for his gun and aimed it at the cook, who did not seem terrified at all. He pulled the trigger but the only thing he heard was a click. He was about to jump on the crook when the sword cut his head off before the broiling heat of the sun. There he was, his blood was filling the hole once occupied by the treasure chest. The crook, on the other hand, did not waste a second about what had just happened but began to drag the treasure chest on to the small boat which would return to a distant beach in Nassau on a silent night.. 1 by Mengish, on Flickr 2 by Mengish, on Flickr 3 by Mengish, on Flickr 4 by Mengish, on Flickr 5 by Mengish, on Flickr 6 by Mengish, on Flickr

PAB Cups: What Did You Get?

Hi there you all!! In early September I asked here about the PAB facilities in London as I was to go there. I went to the one in Shepherd's Bush the day I landed and had 2 big cups. A few days later I was in the other one in Stratford and filled 3 more. In total, I had 5 big cups, accumulating 7779 pieces, which was a satisfactory score for a first visit. Thank you Brick On for the tips. And the photos: 20151013_202029 by Mengish, on Flickr 20151013_204035 by Mengish, on Flickr 20151014_231724 by Mengish, on Flickr

    Hasi & Nasip Pizza Hut

Thanks Lightningtiger!!! Now I should tell the little story for Hasip and Nasip. They are twins, as is evident, who have opened a pizza restaurant in Turkey, where pide, a traditional pastry similar to pizza, is nation's favourite. The flames on the roof implies that the pizza is baked with wood fire, which itself is an appetizing factor in Turkey. As Hasip and Nasip are emigrants of the USA, where their Turkish father married an American woman in 80's, they have a sense of entrepreneurship. With that in mind, they decided to give away toys for two medium size pizza after midnight. And these two irrelevant customers are among the first to get these toys. They are entertainers returning from a late-birthday nearby. They are extremely hungry and eager to get a grip of the stuffed bunnies.
