The Quest for R2

Recommended Posts

Dunno if its worth a new topic, but did you see the Holo of the Invisible Hand in the new Lego SW Cartoon at 4.32 (s. Quest for R2-D2 -Thread) Does it mean we have to expect one?

Sh** I just saw that a) its the Malovalence and b) its already discussed. Please erase this thread, sorry.

Did anyone notice the little hot rod Tiny Turbo that was parked by the entrance to Skywalker World? You think it's a sneak peek to the next range of the Tiny Turbos? :D That would be great, as IMO Tiny Turbos beats even Star Wars. No, I'm not a bozo or a freak or a weirdo.

Sorry for off-topic. The new Grievous looks awesome! I can only hope it will be in a cheap set. ;) By the way, if you freeze it at 4:48, it shows a whole shelf of lego sets . . . . can anyone spot any new ones? I thought the ones on the right of the Y-wings looked unfamiliar.

Also, "C-3PO's Wheel of Fortune" had me smilin'.

Thanks for the link ILikePi. The ARC-170 looked to be slightly different to the existing set so I doubt it was any sneak preview or anything.

I really hope we see that Malevolence, it looked quite impressive from the picture. A new grevious with ball joints would be superb but probably to complicated for a small minifigure. Anyone know why the droids had an AT-AT ?

Also in the hanger scene did anyone notice the name, it was Hangar THX-1138. Isn't 1138 Lucas' magic number or something and Commander Bacara's designation?

and leia was one of the waitress type people  and admiral Ackbar was watching the Land speeders crashing on the ride

That sure is a laugh, Im going to watch it afew more times, im addicted

I just noticed that behind the bumper cars speeders Luke in a pilot suit is walking into a building labelled The Sarlacc Pit. As for shops my favourite is the Wak-a-Wok stall. In the background of the scene where Obi-Wan and Yoda are on the Force-o-Meter there is a Taun Taun carousel with Indy standing in front.

Good spot! THX-1138 was, I think, Lucas's first film, and he refers to it incessantly: hence DolbyTHX. In ANH, when Han and Luke are escorting 'prisoner' Chewie in the Death Star, Luke says something like 'Prisoner transfer from cell block 1138'. I believe there are many more references, but my nerdiness ends here.....

At 4:48 the ships that I assume you think are new are just the old GG's Starfighter, ARC 170, X-Wing, and some of this year's sets. I do like the little stalls at the theme park, like Boba Fett Galaxy Shooting, Leia's Cotton Candy, Jabba's Pizza Palace, and The Sarlaac Pit. My favorite stall is Geedo's, "Fried Dough" That Malevolence looks spot on, and if that was only designed for the video I will be terribly shocked.

What a toy ad that was.

But pretty interesting to see some of the new stuff. At first I thought people were assuming too much, just because this little cartoon shows something doesn't mean they'll actually be future sets or anything, but yeah after watching it, I see they were clearly trying to show us new things. The new Grievous isn't quite what I expected, I was hoping for a more detailed CW head, but his body does at least look a lot better.

The carbonited Han contradicts information we've been told about the Slave 1 set, again it being here doesn't necessarily mean it will be used.. But this little short was nothing but product placement, so I don't see why they would have made a different looking version of Han in carbonite, when they could have simlpy used the old one. Seems likely we'll be seeing that in the Slave 1.

The Malevolence was definitely the highlight though. I imagine that'll be the 'Tantive IV' for next year. :classic:

It was called "The Quest for R2-D2". It was meant to conclude the series of online lego star wars comics, on Lego.com. It premiered last night on Cartoon Network at 9:00 and was pretty funny. I only heard about it two minutes before nine so was lucky to catch it. I was wondering if anyone else saw it? If not here's a link to it on Youtube. The Quest for R2-D2

If you didn't read the comics here's a link. Lego Star Wars comics

Considering we've been discussing it and it's possibilites of new sets all day, I think it's safe to say some of us have seen it as well. :hmpf:

Please have a look round before creating another useless topic.

Nice. I think my favorite bit was the garage sale bit. Did anyone catch all the different bathroom doors in the 'Secret Bad Guy Base'?

Did anyone notice the rancor type creator in the garage sale part? He's kinda in the sandcrawler. :cry_happy:

He doesn't look like LEGO at all, though, so I wouldn't get your hopes up.

I posted the video on my YouTube channel now as I promissed, but it's way not as good in quality as what ILikePi posted. So, thanks, Pi, I'll add that to the first post.

I'm a little bit disappointed to be honest. Nothing in that video makes sense. :sceptic: I know it's not supposed to, but still. And the animation wasn't as good as that of Treehouse Animation. :sadnew: But it was still pretty good, especially considering all the nice easter eggs. I like how Anakin has a Vader shadow when he sees his TIE, and the games at SkywalkerWorld are pure win. A few comments about the speculations of new sets/figs appearing in this video:

  • If you look closely, the Jedi Temple, Council Room, Rancor, and Malevolence (not Invisible Hand) are all either Minis or not even Lego, so I doubt that we will really see those as sets anytime soon.
  • None of the sets we see on the shelfs of C-3PO's Wheel Of Fortune are new. They are just the Venator, Y-Wing, Endor, Echo Base, and Sep Shuttle.
  • Grievous doesn't look all that different from his original version. He is simply colored differently. Sure, he has ball joints, but I'm sure that was just a thing the animators did to make him more posable because BD arms would never work on ball joints in real life. If this is the Grievous we are getting, I wont buy it. :sadnew:
  • The ARC 170 looks slightly different from the 2005 set, especially around the front of the engines and the nose, but that may just be due to the animated style. But even if it is supposed to be the old version, it might still be a hint that we are getting a new version soon, but who knows.
  • Remember when first pics of the Tantive showed up? TLG asked us to remove the pics even though the official unveiling was mere days away. The release of the new sets is still 5-12 months away, so why would TLG put prelim sets or figs in a cartoon that is broadcast on national TV? :hmpf:

In conclusion, I highly doubt that we will be getting any of the new things in this video the way we saw them.

In the end, this was just a big fat ad for all currently available sets, as Penitent Tangent said. It was still fun though.

And I totally want a real-life SkywalkerWorld to happen!

Star Wars ON! :yoda:

Even though it is completely intended for kids before their teens I thought it was superb. Love the way all the Legos came together especially when Yoda used the force on the final set and Indy was searching for the Idol and found C-3PO!

My verdict 10/10

I noticed pose able arms on the droids as well. Because of this, I don't expect an upgrade from TLC.
