A GWP for later this year has been announced on r/LegoLeak, and I was able to find out a bit more information about it from u/FluffySky6. Based on the description, it sounds like a remake of 6048

I asked u/FluffySky6 on Reddit about this and the new Eldorado Fortress:

  Reveal hidden contents

Q:

"What can you say about the Eldorado Fortress remake and Majisto GWP?"

"What colours were in the EF remake, and roughly how many (and what kind of) Minifigs were there?"

"Did the Majisto set have any printed torsos or legs/skirt pieces? Any shields?"

"Also, did either set have a sticker sheet?"

A:

"Minifigs in El Dorado were nearly identical to the original, in count / number of pirates vs imperials"

"And seemed to be a fairly faithful recreation of the original"

"Majisto's skirt was printed, but I believe that's all. It also came with a knight of sorts"

"Both sets could've had sticker sheets but I didn't go out of my way looking for them like I did the SWs sheets"

Q:

"Did you see any large printed flag pieces in the EF?"

A:

"I don't recall honestly"

Q:

"Can you describe the knight in the Majisto set? What kind of helmet were they wearing, what did their torso print look like, did they have a shield, etc?"

A:

"I just remember it was a different looking knight than any of the original majisto sets (there were 2 or 3 I think)?"

"And I don't recall which exact faction"

Q:

"So not a Dragon Knight?"

"Did they have a crest on their torso, or just armour print?"

A:

"I'm not sure"

/ / / /

Q:

"Do you remember the Eldorado Fortress colours at all? I am curious as to whether it will still be yellow or a more realistic tan."

A:

"I want to say it was fairly faithful, i remember there definitely being some amount of tan that seemed to be used for the beach part of the little island"

/ / / /

Q:

"Also, just to confirm - Bluecoats, right?"

A:

"Yep!"

I am curious about the knight - It could be a new Dragon Masters knight, but I can see LEGO saving on prints and just sticking a Black Falcon in the set instead.

Discussion of this set:

The LegoLeak subreddit is reporting that there will be a Majisto GWP set in the summer, similar in size to the Forest Hideout GWP. I hope they do a more interesting Majisto figure than in the castle, but otherwise, nice to have another build to add to the world. Shame that it's a GWP though, but at least it's decent notice to build up a wishlist, and stock levels are often decent in the summer.

Will it be based off a vintage lego set or is it a new GWP?

I have no idea. Just reporting the very small amount of information they have on the LegoLeak subreddit.

If they release this one with the dragon knight I will buy lego sets required just because lol

I am happy if we get more Castle sets, however Majisto set is not so interesting to me since I had stopped collecting Castle sets when they came out and we have a superior fig in BAM anyway..

However don't look a gift horse in the mouth so I guess 3 sets is possible:

  1. 6020: Magic Shop, small and not very interesting with only 1 fig
  2. 1906: Majisto's Tower, biggest with 3 figs and a horse
  3. 6048: Majisto's Magical Workshop, best looking one and has 2 figs and you think this is the most likely one as well. Too bad it has no horse, but would probably work well with the sets we got last year..

I find Majisto's Magical Workshop quite strange with its open roof. Can't wait to see how they will modernize it if it's really this one.

I think it's a good thing that they are reissuing a vintage set from Castle as a GWP. More Castle can only be a good thing. Even if I would not have chosen this one because I'm not really into this Castle subtheme, I would take everything from that approach especially if there is the possibility of reitroducing "new" classic factions.

This would be a great GWP to go along with the rumored Medieval Market.

Yes if we only get the Medieval Market so far no more news :sadnew:

That's amazing news!

I hope that they bring back black knights along with it and release a matching black castle.

Dragon masters would not only involve a new helmet mold but - according to the anniversary survey - are also far less popular.

Also, these factions may be too similar to do a revival for both.

What do you think?

I think that is a big jump from a reasonably small GWP.

I think that would be great! Who would have seriously imagined the return of the Lion Knights, Black Falcons and Forestmen two years ago? Admittedly, these three factions are arguably the three most popular of the classic era and LEGO may wish to rely solely on them with maybe future sets, but who knows, Black Kights and Dragon Masters are pretty iconic also after all and their popularity among the poll is solid... So, just Imagine ! :pir_tong2:

Personally I'd be 100% on board with just being the Black Falcons rather than dragon knights. If we're not getting a full castle reboot, I'd prefer they stick to the three we have now and just build them out rather than tease us with 1-2 minifigures from a different faction every time they release something new. The only exception for me would be if all the minifigs made it onto PAB but I'm not sure a limited run GWP would make it on there

The best thing about a Majisto Workshop is the huge room for improvement! I hope they aren't too beholden to the original design.

90s Castle fans, don't kill me. It's widely held that the 90's Castle designs weren't the best. Not my fault!

Majisto's Workshop would be the GWP for the black castle (Only in my dreams, because black castles don't seem to be very popular).

According to Brickset, looking at Castle theme, 6085 Black Monarch's Castle and 6086 Black Knight's Castle are two of the five highest rated sets (with 4.7/5, like 10000 Guarded Inn, 475 / 6075 Yellow castle and 3739: Blacksmith Shop) and enjoy high popularity when looking at the number of reviews as well as the number of people claiming to own the sets (much more like these last three ones).

No doubt they are not as iconic as the gray castles of the 80' but if we follow data on the website they are very close behind ! If LEGO were to make only one big castle as part of an anniversary set, this one in my opinion had to be gray. Now, if there is any plan to make another one in the future, they have to make a black one ! For the 100th anniversary of the brand ? I hope before ! :pir-tongue:

Very much doubt we'll ever see Dragon Masters return considering they'd need to bring back both the helmet and the plumes.

Don't get me wrong, they were my favourite faction as a kid but I'm too much of a pessimist to see it happening, especially in a GWP.

My statement was based on the 90% grey castle MOCs out there. Black castles are less inclusive than grey ones since not all castle fans are also fantasy fans and new customers who don't know the old castles might be irritated by such a color choice.

I still hope there is a critical mass of people out there who admire the black and grey color concept, paired with red or blue roofs as much as I do.

This GWP release will be the perfect time to pick up Rivendell!  I was just waiting for a reason, above the set being so awesome in general, to make the $500 plunge.

The return of dragon knights or black knights does seem unlikely given how many current new (old) factions they can choose from.  Oh well this is still a win!

Quite hyped.

But really wonder what the threshold is, and what I'm gonna buy...   I have a $90 purchase ready and waiting from pickabrick, and waiting on the Build a Mini to stock up with new summer pieces.  Does anyone know if Online and Instore purchases can be mixed for a higher total?  Like if I go to a store to place my online order?

I would guess a $150-200 USD threshold.  Last year's Forestman's Hideout was $150, the Blacktron Cruiser was apparently $190 this year, so maybe somewhere in between?  GWP thresholds have been sort of all over the place, because you also have the current house build being a $250 purchase but had fewer pieces than the Blacktron Cruiser, so who knows?

The threshold are getting a lot higher on average and impossible to get most of them unless you are willing to pay full price for huge sets several times a month :sceptic:
I have several older ones and get some when I buy parts from PAB, but plan on using them for swapping for the ones I want later and buy the sets on sale elsewhere to save money :shrug_oh_well:

The frequency of GWP gas gone up. Some have high thresholds, others still have low thresholds. I placed an order last week. A £65 order got two GWP. The average has gone up because they have introduced many significantly bigger and better GWP sets but have kept the low ones too. They did a survey a while back asking what customers wanted from GWP, and I imagine enough people said they wanted more meaningful sets than small polybags and were willing to accept higher price points.

Personally,  I don't need to get them all or even most of them.

Agreed. I did an $80 order of Creator 3in1 sets and got three GWP. But there are plenty so far this year that haven't tempted me to buy stuff, despite keeping a wishlist of sets I will get when there is a decent promo or discount. I never buy sets day one. But this and the upcoming flower pot will make me place an order.

Similar here. I think it is good that they are doing more GWP than they used to, including many more that I don't want. Doing GWP I don't want means they are getting more specialised and so it means they also do ones I do want every so often. I much prefer the addition of the nice "limited edition" type sets they have been doing recently while still doing the low threshold generic polybags, instead of just doing low threshold generic polybags and not much else.

Ahhhh....

I am starting to hate GWPs, haha.

last year they released the forest hideout, the threshold was too high for me to just buy stuff I don't need. Luckily it returned with the release of the 10305. Both scenarios aren't  fantastic, its either you need to buy stuff you otherwise wouldnt have to get the gwp or need to buy stuff you actually wanted to buy but maybe not at that particular moment, lol. Its a marketing strat - I know! But I would still prefer they released themed sets like the forest hideout or this new majisto set as standard retail or lego store exclusive. They could actually do both, standard retail for people who can just afford smaller sets and gwp for people who buy larger sets.

If they were selling the GWP sets as regular sets instead of making them GWP only, I think I'd prefer to just get a monetary discount on a larger order rather than a free retail set (that I cannot choose), or give us the choice of any retail set up to the value of the retail set they are giving. If they are regular retail sets, there is nothing special about them, so why restrict it to just one set as the freebie. Making them regular sets instead of time limited freebies really makes them less attractive and would presumably hit sales of larger orders, especially from people that use GWP as a built in discount by selling them on.
