Clearly, this figure works as a mariachi in Mexico where he thrills the tourists with his traditional garb and music. It's no more negatively stereotypical than the mime. It's more like the cowboy in that sense. Typical, even a bit stereotypical, but not negative.
Had he been portrayed with pistols and representing a bandito, you might be able to make the claim of racism (though there is historical relevance to that representation as well, and these figures do sometimes go historical).
That said... I love that figure and all of these. It's a great assortment, maybe even better than series 1.
I hope we see more of these to come.

I really wish these will actually come out here (somewhere other than Toyworld!).
I only want a few duplicates this time, being the Spartan and three mimes (one for each face, the extra ones will still be handy). The karate guy will go perfectly with the ninjas I'm hoping to get, while the vampire and witch will fit with the zombies (which I also hope to get).
Rebooting my Flickr, so almost all my images will now disappear, sorry!

Series one was already great - but series two is simply brilliant!
My favourite minifigs are the lifeguard, the surfer and the Mexican.
My favourite accessory is the golden "nanofig" trophy and the tan hair of the surfer.
Hopefully someone will again offer us the barcodes of all these minifigs!
Btw: Can someone imagine what that purple "thing" is that the guy with the big black hair holds?

I genuinely think Lego may have stumbled on the best release for them in 2010!
I really can see these turning into the equivilent of a sticker album for kids! The point of sale is spot on, the price is right, they have managed to get them in nearly 2 shops in every town, a Lego marketing bod has earn't his paycheque this year!

Of course not... it doesn't represent the Mexican in a bad way, does it? It's just rather a stereotype of a Mexican... big mustached dude with tanned skin and a sombrero. Nothing wrong with that. Neither with the Spartan. :P
By the way, I counted and I spy a total of sixty-seven new parts! Woo! :D

The Surf-dude's torso is also a strong candidate for multiples, although the rest of his stuff is... meh. The head perhaps but...
Karateka, Britney, Witch, Pharaoh, Vampire Lord, Weightlifter, Sombrero-dude and the Mime are must-haves! Britney's hair is again a new mold, isn't it? I'll put that Adventurer/Archaeologist on hold until clearer pictures of his face are available. Same's true for Pam (the Lifeguard-girl)! I'd only get her for her face and another hair-piece. Hopefully that very hair-piece is again another colour (read: not the same one as the Cheerleader's...).
Everything else is uninteresting for me in terms of the actual figures' profession (especially that highway-patrol dude...).
On the other hand: Every single face-print is made of pure win! (Well, again excluding that same highway-patrol dude...
Hooray for Greek-Warrior figs!
Idea: Combine the Surf-dude's torso and Pam's legs to get male speedos! Or use Pam's legs on any FemiFig to get lingerie/underwear! God, the possibilities! Also a big Hooray for more brown legs with that Sombrero-dude!
Again to update: I'm actually wondering how long it takes before some madman has assembled an actual 300 figs strong hoplite-taskforce and incorporates that into a giant battlescene-diorama using tons of PoP Hassansins (spelling?) as enemies...!!! Strong mental images start to appear
Another update: The Mime's beret would make a fantastic medieval-citizen's headwear! Now if it only had a hole to add some plume...

My priorities this time are the Pharaoh, the pop star and the Hoplite. Who's the Diver of this set - the one nobody really wants? The Highway Patrolman?
You might hear little voices say....

The surfer and some other figs are great as well, but I think i might be building a little Spartan army
Yeah, you're right it's a very sucessful line making me spending money that I haven't planned to invest in Legos.

Nice to find another people who got this idea.
Too bad, that just a dream for me to make such battlescene. Maybe spartan shield formation Vs swarm of Persian?
LEGO is smart to release PoP and the Greek in the same year.
