Ambassador Nominations for Classic-Pirates.com

First of all we acknowledge that the Pirate LEGO Forum is hosted by Eurobricks and we thank our landlords very much for the free lease of their forum space.

That aside, Classic-Pirates.com is endeavouring to become an independent community (a new SYSTEM Pirate theme would really aid our cause) and we do things slightly different to the rest of Eurobricks. Think of Eurobricks as a country and Classic-Pirates.com as a state with "local government". (We will not be discussing why the Pirate Forum is hosted at Eurobricks rather than Classic-Pirates.com at this stage)

We've decided to conduct Ambassador nominations separately to those of Eurobricks, so what we're looking for are nominees who have a strong devotion to Classic-Pirates.com and the Pirate LEGO Forum, if you would like to nominate someone who does not have regular participation in the Pirate Forum then please do so in the Eurobricks Ambassador Nominations thread.

That said, someone who is interested in a broader range of LEGO themes is acceptable (preferred in fact), just so long they are reasonably active within the Classic-Pirates.com community - we want someone passionate enough about SYSTEM Pirates to "specialise" in them should the LEGO Group ever require such an Ambassador in the future.

The LEGO Group selects those who we think best exemplify:
  • the program fundamentals of building proficiency,
  • enthusiasm, and professionalism towards the public, other fans and the LEGO Group towards the LEGO Group, the LEGO Community, and the general public.

Please read the LEGO Ambassador FAQ for more information.

Nomination conditions:
  • These nominations are intended specifically for users who are highly active within Classic-Pirates.com and the Pirate LEGO Forum. If you're not genuinely interested in Pirate LEGO then ask yourself if you really need to participate in these nominations.

  • Please nominate ONLY members who regularly contribute to the Pirate LEGO Forum. If you wish to nominate a Eurobricks member who doesn't regularly contribute to the Pirate Forum, then visit the Eurobricks Ambassador Nominations thread.

  • You can nominate any current EB member, 18 or older.

  • Post your nomination in this thread and please explain why you feel they would be a good choice. This information is REQUIRED by the LEGO Group, so any nomination made without it will not qualify for consideration.

  • The nominee must agree that they wish to participate and state why they would be interested in the nomination thread. Also information regarding their relevant experience, qualifications and achievements will help voters make a more informed decision.

  • This topic will remain open until Sunday 18th of May.

  • Any candidate who is nominated and states an interest will provide all the required materials asked by the LEGO Group by Monday, prior to voting.

Finally, a poll will be held from Monday to Thursday so that we can send the necessary information to the LEGO Group by the 23rd.
As only two candidates have accepted their nominations a poll will not be required.

After you have read and understood the above, you may...

Submit your nominations!

Well Mister Phes, I'd say you yourself is a good nomination. You are intelligent, friendly, and overall have a love for LEGO pirates. I think you'd do some good work.

Another person I'd consider is Mr. Bonaparte, he too is intelligent and friendly, with a great understanding of history and good skill with the bricks too. Plus, who can deny the awesome sight that is his Napoleonic Army?

Personally I would like to see Mr.Phes too or Mr.Phred . I think they are two quite friendly members, allways ready to help and, what's most important, completely devoted to classic-pirates.com so we can be completely sure they would do everything to keep this fantastic forum on. My nominations are for them. :pir-wink:

Now for something completly different... I nominate Mister Phes! He has been the driving force behind Classic-Pirates who shows a lot of interest in listening to the communities opinions, and not just on LEGO pirates... although it is obviously a big part! :pir-tongue: Who could be a better choice? But is he interested I ask...?

Other possible choices include Captain Green Hair. Not only a great guy, but probably the best LEGO ship builder around. (...and not just sailing ships either.) He is also happy to share his knowledge with the community too. His interest in hot rods highlights that he's no one trick pony either! :pir-tongue:

For obvious reasons my first choice is Mr. Phes because he's got everything it takes to be a fantastic ambassador. I don't need to go into detail because it so obvious to everyone who knows the guy.

On a second place I want to nominate Captain Green Hair who's not only a fan of pirates but also a fan of other themes. He's a special talented person who's always willing to help others.

My number 3 goes to Phred who's hard work and devotion as a member of Classic-pirates makes him a fine candidate. He's also an all-round Lego fan and one of the friendliest members of this community.

My first vote would have to be Mister Phes. I'm just beginning to get to know him, from what I know so far, he's a great guy. I'd love to see him represent the Lego community.

My second would be Phred. He's a great guy, fun to talk to, knows alot about Lego, that's basically what an ambassador is.

My third would be Bonaparte. What's there to say? He's a great guy, he's always available to answer my questions :pir-blush: He also knows alot about his Lego, you can just tell by his posts around here.

I'd say mr. Phes is the best man for the job! He not only made this great site to what it is, he's friendly, helpfull and has a lot of knowledge about the brick!

Other possibilaties are Phred and Bonaparte, two more great guys that would do an awesome job!

My first nomination would be the outstandingly dedicated Mr. Phes who should definately represent Classic-Pirates!

My second nomination would be Bonaparte because he is highly active, makes frequent postings, and has utmost dedication.

Thank you all for your nominations! I feel as though I could produce phenomenal results as Ambassador of the Classic-Pirates.com community. I shall provide my credentials in the very near future, but right now I'd like to do some nominating of my own.

Bonaparte would definitely make a great candidate. He's assisted me almost from the conception of the Pirate Forum and provided his ongoing support ever since. He has been ever reliable and dedicated, many times demonstrating that he's willing to do more than what is of expected of him, and he's great to bounce ideas off as he provides a different perspective which is intelligent and insightful. But alas! He has informed me he is far too busy to accept such a responsibility, so unless he states otherwise that means he won't be in the running!

ImperialShadows is another great choice. He's a very hard worker, very persistent and takes initiative too. He's very well spoken and you can see evidence of his formal writing skills in the first post of this thread. Yes, that's right - it was he who wrote the terms and conditions the Eurobricks Ambassador selection, I just copied them and tailored them to suit Classic-Pirates.com. But alas once again! He's informed me that the Ambassador Program is not for him, so unless he states otherwise that means he won't be in the running too!

Phred is another gem of a user, he's been diligently maintaining the the Pirate Forum Indexes and backing up the images of MOCs. He also helps new users out with posting images and creating thumbnails. He's always friendly, patient and polite, which is exactly the type of personality you'd want to represent our community!

Captain Green Hair is a delightful fellow, very well liked indeed and he is the co-creator of the EB Pirates Comic series. Not only does he have an entertaining sense of humour but he's also a talented artist. He creates stunning Pirate MOCs, particularly ships with impressive rigging - his creations definitely ooze with exciting concepts which could be utilised in future SYSTEM Pirate LEGO sets.

You're doing a fine job here, lads!

I would have to agree to all the nominations in this thread, except for one clearly crazy one ...

This is correct. The 'not for me' part, not all that other stuff. I will say this... at some point in the future, I'll be interested, but I don't think I'm the right choice, right now. For one thing, my current build catalog is woefully lacking, something I will correct in the future, I guarantee. For another, I'm too busy and I think that for now, I'd rather devote my energies directly to Eurobricks and Classic-Pirates.

I do appreciate the kind words though, I'll be printing and framing them. :pir-blush: :pir-wink:

Yikes... this one is a bit hard for me...

I like the work and contributions of Bonaprte and Phred and I think I would prefer them over Mr. Phes slightly because they have done more work building MOCs and generating items for discussion and show, though I know all three are qualified. I suppose these people have already been nominated, so this is mostly just like campaigning, but I would like to second/third/forth nominations for Boney and Phred.

I am sure other mentions are also good choices, but since I haven't been as active since graduating school, I am sticking with who I know and am confortable with!

I'd definitely like to nominate Mr. Phes.
His only weakness is his lack of MOCing.
But he definitely makes up for it through running this forum and Classic-Pirates effectively, his great enthusiasm for pirate lego, and his commitment to Eurobricks and Classic-Pirates!

Initially I was not planning to apply for LA, I have 2 semesters of college left, so i wouldn't have time.
But i want TLG to make pirate REAL bad! Plus how can i say no to all you guys. :pir-wub:
My worst semester is now over, so i ought to have more time now.
Thanx guys.

In the future, i hope that ZCerberus and Aaron Morse would be willing to post more frequently in this forum again. :pir-cry_happy:
If they do, they would make excellent future choices as LAs for C-P.
They're both superb ship builders and have great personalities and they're both good friends. :pir-classic:

Here's my credentials...

Representing
Classic-Pirates.com and all SYSTEM Pirate LEGO® enthusiasts!

Biography
I have worked unremittingly to build the largest online congregation of Pirate LEGO enthusiasts in the world! In conjunction with the LEGO Pirates Forum I have developed Classic-Pirates.com which is rapidly becoming the most comprehensive online Pirate LEGO resource on the planet, as well as, an ever expanding mailing list to penetrate beyond the communicative barriers of a forum. This role also involves overseeing community events such as building competitions which further stimulates member participation.

I have designed the majority of interface graphics for Classic-Pirates.com and the LEGO Pirates Forum, as well as promotional images, set review posters, news items, and I have largely contributed graphics, photography and creative writing to the “A Guide to the Pirate Mini-Figures” article series. www.classic-pirates.com/archive/articles/

I have networked with numerous AFOL fansites, and developed ongoing relationships with LEGO retailers such as “Bricks To The World” (www.bttw.com.au - Australia’s largest dedicated LEGO retailer), numerous LEGO eBay sellers, and professional LEGO builders such as Eric Duron of BaronSat.net.

I have also been highly instrumental in developing new forum policies to shape the Eurobricks forum into a harmonious and prosperous AFOL community of the future. In addition I have been a highly inventive Administrator and provided many useful innovations to improve the efficiency and user experience of that community.

I possess degree level written, research and analytical skills, with a particular emphasis towards critique. I am insistent business negotiator with over 6 years liaison experience and have studied professional writing skills. My achievements earned through Classic-Pirates.com have demonstrated an excellent leadership and management aptitude with the capacity to motivate, instruct and train others to perform specific tasks and fulfil ongoing duties. This has required phenomenal a dedication with great liberal mindedness, all the while demanding superior communication proficiency and a cheerful demeanour.

Key Interests
Pirate LEGO is my passion, though I do have a keenness for any SYSTEM LEGO sets released in the 80’s and 90’s!

Classic-Pirates.com is my greatest My Own Creation, but when I find the time to build, I love to explore concepts for new SYSTEM Pirate sets. Some examples of this exploration can be found at: http://www.classic-p...rs/mister_phes/

After collecting the entire Pirate SYSTEM theme, I have begun indulging in the recent Castle, City, Mars Mission and Creator sets. I find Impulse sets are highly entertaining!

You both are absolutely correct - I definitely lack the MOCing skills that some have and this is the price I've paid to develop the Pirate Forum and Classic-Pirates.com to where it is today.

I disagree with this statement however because I've developed most of the graphics on Classic-Pirates.com and the Pirate Forum (interface, smileys, news items, CGI backgrounds, etc.), I've contributed heavily to the "Guide to the Pirate Mini-Figure" series, I've created very thorough pictorial reviews, I've created comprehensive tutorials - all of which are items for discussion.
