Just finished building the 8251 as my first real life LDD model.

8251 -  Sonic Cycle - Theme: Technic

Posted Image

LXF file

Parts that are on LDD but couldn't be attached to the model:

-None-

Parts that were not in LDD and couldn't be attached to the model

The flat hinge plates (1x2) is missing because the only brick in the pallet that is close enough to it is not flush with the studs where the hinge is and prevents the bracketed brick to fit onto of it.

The flat hinge plates (2x1) is missing because the only brick in the pallet that is close enough to it is not flush with the studs where the hinge is and prevents the bracketed brick to fit onto of it.

No flexi-tube the correct length, also flexi-tubes can't bend in LDD.

Software and other faults:

No spring coil on the shock in LDD.
No available stickers / printed on decorations for this model.
Cannot seem to get the bike to angle to both the wheels are more or less on the ground/surface.

Oops, sorry about that, the pictures should be now smaller, at least i did re-sized them for sure.

New quick small Castle set again :classic:  (I seriosly should take a small brake from these now)
Saw ADHO15 newest review of this set and i had to make it.

Theme: Castle
Name: Witch and the Fireplace
Set number: 2872
Year:1997
LXF-file

Errors: No printings

Captain Becker
Two color errors:

  • The coals in the fireplace should be 47 Transparent Fluorescent Reddish Orange (Trans-Neon Orange), not 182 Transparent Bright Orange (Trans-Orange). Color 47 is under the Transparent Red category, which might account for some of the confusion.

  • The barrel should be 25 Earth Orange (Brown), not 217 Brown (Dark Flesh).

Simple set, but great work nonetheless!

Hi all!

Another set, duplicate, but with some corrections.

4478 - Geonosian Starfighter
Year - 2002
Theme - Star Wars
[DUPLICATE]

LXF file

-The two bricks 44359 won't fit in the brick 44358, only one of the two is floating over the brick 44359 in the front and back of the set.
-Brick 6104 substituted by a brick-built one.
-Brick x270 (Geonosian Head) substituted by the brick 64808.
-Brick 30378 (Battle Droid Head) substituted by the brick 30529.
-Brick x545px1 substituted by the brick 50231.
-Decorations missing.
-In the image the cape is Tr. Orange, but in the file it's Tr. Brown
One color error: You also used 182 Transparent Bright Orange where 47 Transparent Fluorescent Reddish Orange should be used.

4560 / 4561 Train Set: Work in Progress! (I did not see it in the main thread index / thread search).

The set is effectively complete (I did not spot anything missing), although I have had to use substitute parts:
  • The platform ramp is made from custom bricks, plates and tiles
  • The roof of the truck is replaced with modern equivalent
  • The ramps inside the 'car' wagons are replaced with modern equivalent
  • The metalic chrome silver modifed tiles with slots is not the correct colour
LXF File: 4560 is identical to 4561

As always the sub models are individually grouped. Or you can download each of the sub models seperately.

Edit: Updated the list, models, and pictures.

  • All the windows should be 42 Transparent Light Blue. You have some in the engine colored 43 Transparent Blue.

  • You have one hair piece colored 109 PC Black IR instead of 26 Black.

Other than that, great work on such a large set!

I did not see 7938 Passenger Train... so here it is. It might be a duplicate though (the search did not return positive).

LXF File

Known errors
  • The front and rear windscreens do not sit flush with the bricks - boundary error
  • Custom battery box has been used
  • Custom white front modified plates (for the nose cone) have been used.
  • No mini-figs yet... too tired tonight.

As always the submodels also exist as LXF files for those who are interested

In the train forum I will post a couple of pictures of custom MOC's I did for this; a 1st class wagon and a restaurant car.

  • You have a printed tile on the roof in 199 Dark Stone Grey that should be 194 Medium Stone Grey.

  • You have part 6587 in 5 Brick Yellow when it should be 138 Sand Yellow.

  • You have a printed clock tile in 50 Phosphorescent White when it should be 1 White.

Pretty minor errors overall. Great work on accuracy!

*note ,alternate model and motorized model coming soon (in this same post)
Three color errors here. But of course, practice makes perfect, and there's really no better way to learn the colors than to just build with the most common colors until you get used to their names.

  • Black parts should be 26 Black, not 109 PC Black IR. PC Black IR is the black generally used for things like infrared receivers and transmitters (hence the IR).

  • Light Grey parts should be 2 Grey rather than 208 Light Stone Grey. In LEGO's terminology, "stone" grey is the same as what Bricklink calls "bluish" grey, and "light" grey is what Bricklink calls "very light grey". (Light Gray and Light Bluish Gray are thus Grey and Medium Stone Grey, respectively).

  • Yellow parts should be 24 Bright Yellow, not 190 Fire Yellow. Not totally sure what Fire Yellow is-- in terms of timeline, it's about the same time as certain Scala colors, and since Bricklink often misidentifies Scala colors as already-existing colors, chances are that Bricklink doesn't have its own name for Fire Yellow parts. In any event, you'll probably never need to use Fire Yellow parts on LDD.

If you want to look up the official LEGO name of a Bricklink color, the best online source I know of is the Peeron color list, which cross-references the Peeron names, Bricklink names and numbers, LDraw numbers, and official LEGO names and numbers. It's not a foolproof way of getting colors right, because Peeron and Bricklink often misidentify colors in their inventories. But generally it'll do the job very nicely. Another great tool is Superkalle's LDD Manager, which contains an equally-useful Bricklink-to-LEGO color name conversion chart, as well as the option of auto-generating an LXF with the parts you need just by copying and pasting the Bricklink inventory. Hope you make many more LDD models in the future!

is the color of the studs correct, its like a darer browny Grey and some axle stops have them on also (its at the front of the bike where the visor is

the stud is for a wider beam and it has a shorter beam connection on the other end, also you can use 3 thin beams with this.
Hi Snipe

Sorry to have to start this welcome like this, but please remember this is an AFOL site, so we do ask that you start sentences with capital letters, use proper punctuation etc.

I like the way you've done the old wheels Giovanne, never realised the tyres would 'connect' to studs like that!

However if you could resize your images to fit the topics guidelines (Maximum size allowed is 512x512 pixels. Use 256x256px size or lower for small sets.) it'd be most appreciated.  :classic:

A couple color errors:

  • You colored all the grey parts 208 Light Stone Grey (Very Light Bluish Gray) when they should be colored 2 Grey. Learning the official names of the various grey colors can be difficult, but it's something to start practicing early. For future reference...

    2 Grey = BL's Light Gray
    27 Dark Grey = BL's Dark Gray
103 Light Grey = BL's Very Light Gray
194 Medium Stone Grey = BL's Light Bluish Gray
199 Dark Stone Grey = BL's Dark Bluish Gray
208 Light Stone Grey = BL's Very Light Bluish Gray

  • You colored all the black parts 109 PC Black IR when they should be colored 26 Black. 109 PC Black IR is an obscure color used mainly for infrared receivers and transmitters (hence the IR), such as the one on the NXT.

  • You colored the minifigure's brown hair 192 Reddish Brown, when in fact it should be colored 25 Earth Orange (old brown). The names of colors like old brown can be confusing, but they actually make a decent amount of sense-- see here for details.

For future help checking colors while you're building, I recommend either Superkalle's LDD Manager (which includes a very comprehensive color conversion chart) or the Peeron color chart, which is also very complete and can be used to find the official LEGO names for various Bricklink, Peeron, or LDraw colors.

  • A lot of the bricks are 27 Dark Grey which should be 199 Dark Stone Grey.

  • Similarly, a lot of bricks are 2 Grey which should be 194 Medium Stone Grey.

  • You use two of piece 6019 when the set uses the newer version 61252.

Other than those two grey errors, all of the colors are correct. Just remember that LEGO's "stone grey" is the same as Bricklink's "bluish grey", and you should be alright.

  • I notice you used 102 Medium Blue as a substitute for Maersk Blue (11 Pastel Blue). This is perfectly acceptable, since Pastel Blue isn't available by default on LEGO Digital Designer and there are no easy shortcuts to get it. However, if you want to change the Maersk Blue parts to the correct color, I invite you to download my Complete LDD Color Chart. You can copy and paste the piece in 11 Pastel Blue into your Maersk Train model and then use the eyedropper tool to select the color and paint all the Maersk Blue parts that color.

  • You also colored the blue uniforms of the workers 196 Dark Royal Blue when they should be 140 Earth Blue (BL's Dark Blue).

  • You use piece 6019 for 1x1 clips where you should use the more current version 61252. The difference is minor, and I'm not sure whether 61252 is even the correct version (I think there's been a new version since 61252), so it's up to you if you want to change that. The same applies for the clip pieces 4085: there is a more recent version, 60897, available on LDD, but the most recent version (whose item number I don't know) is not available, so it's up to you whether you want to change that.

  • You also used pieces 3192 and 3193 where you should have used parts 58380 and 58381, respectively.

  • Tires 6015 should be replaced with tires 87697, the most recent version.

  • The flag piece 2335 has a more recent version, 60779, available, but I won't lie: I have absolutely no idea whether 60779 is the version being used currently. So again, it's your choice whether or not those should be changed.

All of these are fairly minor errors, but it would be very nice if you'd take a look at which ones might be worth fixing. Great job avoiding some of the more common errors like mixing up grey colors or coloring only the top surface of 1x1 tiles. And great job building such a large and intricate set!

Just one error in this case: the man's hair is colored 192 Reddish Brown (the newer brown that first came out in 2004), when it should be colored 25 Earth Orange (classic brown).
