    [MOC] Star Defender 350

Beautiful! I love the "full padded leather interior in stylish beige"!

    Starglider

Lovely - that colour combination, simple as it is, works so effectively, and the I love what you call the "chunky" aesthetic. The two prongs, in particular, give it a very muscular feel, and I'm happy that even I was able to see the wonderful possibilities in the Nexagon piece when my son built one of the Nexo Knight mech-type sets a few weeks ago. It's nice to see my suspicions confirmed in such a nice build!

    Adventures End

I love the shark in the "tank" - very Damien Hirst!

    MOC - Oasis of Tears

Wonderful! I love the fortress - beautiful colours and excellent shaping - but I also love what looks like a stargate, with the dragon's head poking through. Beautifully done. The little robots are a nice addition, as is the use of the Aladdin Disney collectible minifigure. That's a perfect detail!

    [MOC] DF-47 Starfighter

Wow! That's beautiful. Excellent colour blocking, and like LegoMonorailFan, I think the angled cockpit is terrific. I particularly like the cluster of tanks and capsule-like structures in the main body, where the wings join it. Fantastic. Like Leonardo, I'm also wondering where the solar panel tiles come from.

    [MOC] Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Yes, I have most of a white one built, hachiroku, and I can tell you that it looks good - your design is excellent. I really want to build a black one too, but I have to order some parts before I can make a real start on it. I'm afraid that you've started me down the path of Speed Champions-style car builds, which I'm beginning to realize require a LOT of small parts - 1x1 plates, 1x2 plates, 1x4 plates, lots tiles of various sizes, a LOT of brackets, and lots of small slopes. At least most of the bricklink orders I make will be pretty compact!

    [MOC] Ford Mustang Shelby GT500

Built this a couple of days ago - very nice build. The roof attachment is a little weak, but it's a small price to pay for something that looks so cool! I'm waiting on parts to build a white and blue version - a classic Mustang colour-combination! After that, I'm very tempted to build a few different colour variants - Red and white, Dark Red and White, Black and White. Excellent stuff!

LEPIN ripping off STAR WARS MOCs

Since it involves two large businesses, there are, of course, lots of aspects to this that complicate things, but I have to say that it always bothers me when people say that they don't care about intellectual property rights. The issue affects me directly, and when something I've published is translated into another language without my consent and/or made available in a format that deprives me of royalties (as has happened more than once), it is far from inconsequential to me. Perhaps as a result of that, I'm more inclined to be on the side of IP laws, whether they pertain to a large company or a single author, artist, or designer trying to make a living for himself or herself in the field which those IP laws cover. If we only ever cared about things that affect us directly, where would we be, exactly, in terms of civil rights, human rights, environmental law, and more? Intellectual property law is part of the same discussion. The fact that Lego is a large company does not mean that IP laws should protect them any less than they protect me (in as much as they do, that is). I admit that the converse is also true - those laws should never protect a large business more than they protect others - but that is absolutely not what is at issue in this particular discussion.
  9. Flash Speeder - at a great price on Amazon (I think I got very lucky), and the Force Awakens Millennium Falcon at $40 off. I had been eyeing it up for months, and decided to bite the bullet and go ahead and get it, for two reasons. Reason #1 Build it with my six-year old son, who loves the Falcon, and 2# Use it as part of a large Mos Eisley spaceport diorama that I really want to build. Tan baseplates galore, tan and dark brown bricks, slopes, plates, and arches, and bits to make Moisture Vaporators - all from a few Bricklink hauls. I'm looking forward to some building!
  10. Stunning! I know little/next to nothing about robotics, but have always been fascinated by the ability of the human brain to make thousands of on the fly calculations in order to catch something (a ball, etc.), and to see a lego-built robot do the same thing is nothing short of a marvel. It's funny that I've happened to see your post/video while I'm in hospital having undergone one spinal cord surgery to correct a neurological hiccup, and waiting on a second. I'm taking this as a good sign, and it's cheered my up no end! Marvelous! If Lego can do this, so can I (although I bet you robot has better clutch power than I do!)

    Scissor lift

That's perfect! I'll be borrowing the idea to build access lifts for my Star Wars fighters, none of which have any viable way for pilots to get into the cockpit (except for the stairs with the new Naboo Fighter, I suppose, although I don't have it yet). Lovely stuff!

    Minifig scale Star Wars sets

The latest B-Wing (from last year?) seems pretty close to perfect mini-fig scale, I think, although I haven't done the measurements/mathematics., and have never seen the UCS in hand to know better about it. Would I also be right in thinking that the 2014 (?) A-Wing is close as well? It seems just a little bigger than the new one (in the set with the Advanced Tie), and it's always struck me as a very compact ship, so looks right, particularly compared to the various Jedi Starfighters with the sort of bubble canopy, which really seem too small (although I like the second-most recent one a lot in terms of shape). This is a good question, though. I love mini-figure scale when it comes to spaceships.

Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion

I've always liked the look of the Parisian Restaurant, but while the Detective's Office might be less "flashy" looking, it's a wonderful build, with lots of really nice techniques. However, I always feel the best set to get is the one you like most. Seems obvious, I know, but why complicate the decision?

[MOC] Modular Building : Book Shop

Beautiful! I love the white window facades, and the creepy attic is great - a really nice way to cap off a fantastic build. I didn't see one, but is there a cat anywhere? I ask, because cats are very common in small independent bookstores, at least here in the U.S. I'm not certain why that's the case, but I'm an English professor, and spend a lot of time in independent bookstores, and nine times out of ten they have a cat! Excellent build!
  15. This is excellent. A lovely shape, and the red looks fantastic. And the torpedo tubes are genius. Oh, love the utility sub too. All round great job.
