Well, it's not all bad I guess... on closer examination, it looks like the "bad guys" will be sporting my favourite LEGO color, dark red.

For the same reason they released a "Captain's Quarters" set alongside "Queen Anne's Revenge" in the POTC line? This proves nothing. There may or may not be more sets to come in 2013, only time will tell.

Indeed. My only fear is that it's expensive as hell, given the absurd amount of minifigs it seems to include....

Those upcoming sets looks to be amazing, judging by the admittedly tiny pics. And a new pirate ship! Yay!

Agreed, terrible choice for a shield if that is the case. Worst one ever by far. Sooo dissapointing. And what's up with blue as the "good" color AGAIN? Try something new every now and then... The style looks like a mix of late KKII and Fantasy, far inferior to Kingdoms. Though again: hard to judge from such small pictures. If this is indeed a reboot of KKI, of all things, I'll be hugely dissapointed. There were sooooo much better factions to use than those two. Oh well, at least the next wave of LOTR sets looks awesome - I'll bolster my Castle lineup with those structures instead.

Veeeery impressive. As others mention, there's just so much detail. And I love to see so many old castle shields used, though I'm personally not a big fan of the old figures (anymore).

Brilliant! You need to do more reviews. I wish these monster fighters sets didn't all come with vehicles, which is putting me off buying any of them. For this set, I'd have loved to get just the mausoleum/tombs and bride, which are all awesome - but the rest doesn't really interest me the slightest.

Very clever moc with the use of darker blue to create submarine shadows. I imagine this would be a great display piece.

Review: 70004 Wakz' Pack Tracker
Hive replied to I Scream Clone's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Agreed. The wolf figures could have been great for a Castle fantasy setting if not for the insistance of all Chima figures to have that blue crystal thingie painted on the torsos, in spite of their armor having one as well. A bit of a shame, as they otherwise look great and feature amazing heads. -
REVIEW: 70003 Eris' Eagle Interceptor
Hive replied to WhiteFang's topic in LEGO Action and Adventure Themes
Another great review by WhiteFang. While neither this set nor the theme in general appeals to me in any way, I can certainly appreciate the amount of detail LEGO has put into it. It proves that they still care a great deal about non-licensed themes (unlike what some claim), and I believe this will be a huge hit with kids. Possibly even bigger than Ninjago.- 34 replies

Unbelievable haul as always, TheLegoDr. But exactly how many themes do you collect? How do you find room and time for so many different themes?
-
Given that it seems to be an extremely rare set to find, I'd say go for it while it's still possible - if you really like the set that much.

I remember that post. I'm still in awe.

Oooh, sounds promising. Here's hoping for a pyramid!

Good shape for a LEGO castle, though the structure in the center makes it a bit too crowded I think. Perhaps you could instead incorporate the round piece in the center as a huge tower in one of the corners of the main castle? I think that would look great.

Heh. When I started reading your post, I thought you had encountered an ad for pornographic material or the likes... but a newspaper? Honestly, I think you're exaggerating a great deal. Agree with the political stance and employed morale of a newspaper or not; it can hardly be described as 'offensive'. It's just a newspaper, albeit of the tabloid kind. Try to ignore it.

Fantastic capture of a historic event. It's not the biggest of mocs, but it's so well-made and filled with details.

Fantastic conversation.

Fantastic idea and equally fantastic execution. I love it!

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
Hive replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
Oh, I agree. I understand what they are doing and why they are doing it, I'm merely saying that I had hoped for something else. I agree with you. Does it mean that there's any foul play involved? No, there probably isn't. But LEGO shouldn't allow situations to arise that makes people even *suspect* grounds for fould play. That's why, at least in my country, when a company holds some sort of contest with prizes; their employees and their family members aren't allowed to participate. -
I'm not into western and don't care for licensed minifigs, but I stil think some of these sets are a lot better than I'd have expected. And pretty diverse.

Meh, I won't be impressed untill they do Helm's Deep. j/k, it's amazing.

Next CUUSOO set: 21103 Back to the Future™ Time Machine
Hive replied to Blakstone's topic in LEGO Licensed
I sort of agree. I had hoped that CUUSOO would be a way for LEGO to reward loyal AFOLs with sets we'd really like, but instead it has turned out to be a tool for non-LEGO fans to push through whatever arbitrary ideas are easiest to summon a voting horde for. -
It's the best LEGO set ever made, in my opinion. Get it while you can.

Indeed. The colors never match up anyway, so why be so hell-bend on always doing it...?
