  1. Looks good! But where's the shot of Gimli trying to destroy the ring?
  2. I already posted this in the history forum, but I just had to brag here as well with my latest purchase, as I find myself exceptionally lucky: and I've wanted 8802 for quite a while, as I've been looking to add some scorpion knights and their emblem to my collection - and I find this set to be one of the very best sets from KKII with some interesting bricks and colors. I'm not a huge fan of the ship from 8801, but I'll try replacing the grey with brown and see what happens... the jelly knights will go on Bricklink. The best part of this is that I got both of them MISB for a combined price, including shipping, that was significantly lower than the cheapest price for 8802 alone on Bricklink without shipping! Yay me! This is definately the best LEGO deal I've done for a long time. I just loooove getting unopened vintage sets.
  3. My shopping spree continues, this time with quite the lucky find: and I've wanted 8802 for quite a while, as I've been looking to add some scorpion knights and their emblem to my collection - and I find this set to be one of the very best sets from KKII with some interesting bricks and colors. I'm not a huge fan of the ship from 8801, but I'll try replacing the grey with brown and see what happens... the jelly knights will go on Bricklink. 4. I finally convinced myself to get Attack on Weathertop. I've been on the fence for a long time, but was afraid that I'd end up regretting missing out on it if I didn't get it. And I got it on amazon at roughly 60 % of the price I could get it at locally, so...
  5. Of all the LOTR/Hobbit sets, I think this one has the by far most exciting parts. Can't wait to get it!
  6. Great set and quite impressive minifigs. The mouth of Sauron fig is really amazing, and the structure itself is probably the best set I've ever seen in all-black. One of the best LOTR/Hobbit sets I've seen.
  7. Those wargs does look pretty cool, and it's nice to see them used in a non-LOTR/Hobbit setting.
  8. The palantir looks cool and it's a nice throne. And who can say no to a white cape?
  9. Great pictures, I'm even more impressed with the 3 "dead" minifigures now. I'll definately be adding this ship to my pirate collection, even though the amount of stickers is a bit disappointing.
  10. Amazing work, I'm extremely impressed. Bravo!
  11. They haven't arrived in Denmark yet, either. You'll probably have to wait untill August.
  12. Still, I don't get why they don't try to differentiate the two themes some more. Wait, Harry Potter was not for kids? I'm not sure I buy that one.
  13. Great moc, very vibrant with lots of life.
  14. Thanks for the detailed pictures! They re-affirmed me in my belief that this set is the most interesting from this new theme, in spite of it's obvious shortcomings. It's the most unique and different, it has a stunning new wizard and a dragon and generally some interesting parts. And in spite of the less than stellar excecution, it's based on an interesting idea with the "fort on top of a ruin" and all. It gives me ideas... I'll definately get this when an opportunity presents itself.
  15. Yeah I must admit that I don't understand why they release another, sub-par theme with wizards and dragons when one so much better is already out there. To me, this theme looks more than anything like a combination of rejected ideas from the last two Castle lines. But eh, the bricks and new faces are useful. And another dragon and wizard is always nice.
  16. This set might actually finally make me buy Attack on Weathertop, as I think the two of them could be combined to form quite a nice and substantial build.
  17. I don't collect SW LEGO, but wow... this set is absolutely stunning, one of the best LEGO sets I have ever seen. Amazing job.
  18. I was sceptical going in, but after looking at that site it does seem like they have some pretty good prices beating most anything on Bricklink. I would definately hit up Escape from Mirkwood Spiders for $10 if this shop wasn't on the other side of the world.
  19. The new faces of the minifigs is the highlight of this theme, in my opinion. They look great. But while the dragon knights are sort of growing on me, I still find the figures really underwhelming compared to those of Kingdoms. The structure is decent enough (though the oddly placed catapult drags it down a bit) and looks like a mix between Outpost Attack and Escape from The Dragon's Prison from Kingdoms with some PoTC-style roofing. I have a hard time seeing it as a substantial addition to the Castle but am eager to see it lined up.
  20. The carriage is okay, the other thing is... well, pointless. The price seems a bit off, compared to the similar priced sets from Kingdoms. Far off, actually - even though it has a slightly higher piece count, it just doesn't seem as substantial...
  21. I came out of my dark ages right as both Fantasy Castle and the Pirates 2009 lines were being phased out and put on clearance, and I regret not buying all the sets I could get my hands on from those two lines. But I still wasn't sure how much I wanted to invest in my newfound LEGO interest, nor was I at that point inclined to collect two different themes... I've later managed to aquire most of the Pirates 2009 line while sadly only having secured a few of the Fantasy Castle sets, with Drawbridge Attack being the biggest set. In more recent times, I regret not getting the PoTC London Escape set on clearance when I bought the two ships. I'm not quite sure what it is about that set, but it oddly intrigues me.
  22. Not a fan of the minifigs from this new line, the brick built items in this set does not impress me and the fact that they have replace actual LEGO coins with this atrocities does not help my overall impression of the set... but I'll still rate it 'average' due to the number of figures for the price, some nice new faces and a dog. I don't yet own a dog. A sword and an axe clip among the extras is pretty nice as well.
  23. I actually think this is the best set of this line so far; it's different, has nice colors, has a dragon that goes well with the Fantasy 2007 line and the best (and one of the only actually good) figures of the line: the evil wizard.
  24. Oh yes, it is pretty accurate in terms of the movie. No complaints there. It's a nice tower, no doubt. But I don't buy *any* LEGO sets due to them resembling anything from a movie, I buy them on their standalone value. And I just don't think it looks impressive enough as eye-candy in all-black for me to shell out the - rather hefty - price for it. It's huge size makes it difficult for me to display, anyway. But like I said: I appreciate the build and I can definately understand why others, especially LOTR-fans, want it. It's just not for me.
