I collected the pieces and built this a while ago - but does this mean you've got reproduction stickers for this ready for sale? Because I'll be all over them if you do :) ...aaand I just found them on your site. Ordered!

LED Lights that are suitable for LEGO?
L@go replied to General Magma's topic in General LEGO Discussion
I have no experience with lighting LEGO, but I bought a bunch of Brickstuff lights at Brickworld in Chicago last week, and managed to light one of my MOCs so well that it seriously impressed both me and others who saw it, in less than two hours. While Lifelites, as far as I know, is considerably cheaper, the one big advantage Brickstuff has, compared to Lifelites, is the size of their componentz. The wires are thinner, to the point that you will in most cases be able to wedge them between bricks or plates, and the lights are so small that they will actually fit underneath 1x1 plates (not tiles, mind you). Together with the fact that the power plugs are so small that they easily go through a hollow stud, that means that you can pretty much light up any MOC you've built without having to rebuild anything. And that was the clincher for me. I'll be working on lighting some more MOCs over the next couple of weeks, and I'll be posting some pictures of the results in my Flickr stream.- 9 replies

The building is certainly interesting in itself - both inside and outside - but that rotating ice cream cone is just the icing (...) on the cake. Lovely! A very cool idea that seems to work perfectly. I'm sure it would be a star at any LEGO convention. Moving objects always get the children's attention.

Birmingham or West Midlands - any LUGs/meets/events
L@go replied to Covenant84's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Brickish is a good place to start - as for events, I'd certainly consider Brick 2015 - they've announced a second event in Birmingham in addition to the London one this year. -
Yes, several. For sheer number of different parts, my experience is that nobody can beat Chrome Block City - and Auri, who runs the shop, is a super friendly and very service-minded guy. Then there's ChromeBricks, who's been in business even longer, and they also have quite a good selection, are reliable and ship quickly. There's a few more, but these are the two that I have ordered from, and I'm very happy with both. If you search for "chrome" in store names, you'll have a small selection.

There's a lot to like here, a very nice modular design! That brick-built Adidas sign looks lovely, as does the SNOT-built floor. The interiors, in general, are very well done. And I really need to order me some of those mirrors :)

He was being serious. IE does not cooperate well with the software this forum uses, which means you probably have two choices: a) try another browser or b) live with the bugs you're experiencing.

Wow - never seen that one! It's not often that I'm stumped, but that was obscure :)
-
No, the red one is none of those - they both have regular plate connections underneath. Are you sure that is LEGO, thefamilybrick? Does it have LEGO stamped on the studs?
-
I'd like to think I was partly responsible for you deciding to bring more stuff - either way, I'm delighted to hear that you will! So much looking forward to seeing your builds. And a surprise...? Sounds intriguing! :)

Another stunning creation from you two. I suspect this is going to show up in Skærbæk in September? Looking forward to seeing it there!

What? He's turning an old man? Tell him he's getting older every day, why is this so special...? :) You will be missed, Vincent. But I'll see you later - in Skærbæk, at least.

I'm always up for pizza! And I'm struggling with a &%#¤)/@=/"#@¤=)"#& spaceship that needs to be finished this weekend. It's bloody hard when you haven't built one in 25+ years...

Best Place to Live When it Comes to Buying Lego?
L@go replied to Deathleech's topic in General LEGO Discussion
Denmark is among the most expensive countries in Europe when it comes to LEGO. As are Norway and Sweden, right next door. So that logic doesn't work :) I converted a few prices just now, and got some interesting results, though - the pound is very weak against the dollar at the moment, so the UK is right up there with Denmark and in some cases more expensive: Kwik-E-Mart: Denmark DKK 1699 ($254.85), Germany 199.99€ ($201.11), UK £169.99 ($262.86) and the US $199.99 Detective's Office: Denmark DKK 1399 ($209.85), Germany 149.99€ ($167.90), UK £132.99 ($205.64) and the US $159.99 UCS Sandcrawler: Denmark DKK 2799 ($329.85), Germany 299.99€ ($335.81), UK £249.99 ($386.56) and the US $299.99 Which means the price on S@H is always cheaper in the US, but not by much compared to Germany. Denmark is more expensive for the Detective's Office, but the other two are more expensive in the UK at the moment... (All three are still more expensive in Norway, though: Kwik-E-Mart $266,93, Detective's Office $213,52 and Sandcrawler $400,46. Which is why I'm going to fill an extra suitcase when going to Brickworld next month...) -
Modular Building Sets - Rumours and Discussion
L@go replied to The Jersey Brick Guy's topic in LEGO Town
It is a new element, and it actually goes inside the 1x2x6 arch. It comes in tan in the hotel set, an unusually useable colour for a new element :) -
Oops! I see it now. I guess my mind just saw the same combination as in the PR, as you mentioned... It's very nice nevertheless :)
-
A lovely building, inside and out. The architecture is interesting and very realistic, I like the olive green/white combination, and you've got some very nice interior details as well, like the sofa and chair. Well built - but that's hardly a surprise, coming from someone with your portfolio :)

If you read the original post again, you'll see this:

Or you could just buy them here. I can recommend the manufacturer, they deliver quality.
-
That's some brilliant engineering right there - very clever solution. And the bus looks the part, too. Well done!
-
Lovely, just lovely. I like the modern look of it and the idea of those walls breaking through - and your presentation is impeccable. It's easy to see that you spent a considerable amount of time on this. Well built!

Neither did I. So I bought some ;)

Haha! I'm glad to see I've inspired you :) I've never thought about integrating it into another building. It works well as just a facade, too. I think I'd have swapped the headlight bricks in the roof for 1x1 bricks with stud on one side, to avoid those holes, though.
