  1. I commented on this over on Flickr, but I have to say here as well that I think it's a gorgeous piece of architecture you've built. The smooth surfaces and transitions are so well done, and those signs are just perfect. You really are a master of this style!
  2. I've always quite simply had the minifigures' well-being in mind, and it seems to me they will probably be less unhappy with having the split at the back, so their (imaginary) bum is on display, than at the front, so their (imaginary) private parts are showing. That's how considerate I am!
  3. I don't think it has opened yet, but they've applied for people to work at a store in the new Mall of Scandinavia, scheduled to open on November 12th. That seems to go quite well with the address - as far as I know, the new mall is located right next to the Friends Arena (now there's an interesting sponsorship option!)
  4. I was in the shop in LEGOLAND Billund on Saturday - they had the old Tower Bridge box on the shelves, but I discovered a new version of the Palace Cinema box. Basically, it's the exact same redesign as the Tower Bridge one - the branding has changed to Creator Expert and the new logo made from headlight bricks is featured on the box. Didn't take a picture thought. But it probably means the Palace Cinema still has some shelf life left - they'd never have bothered with redesigning the box if the set was on its way out.
  5. I really like the colours you've used. Having just been to Barcelona, the architecture reminds me of Gaudí!
  6. That's gorgeous indeed, I'm especially fond of the curved section above the front balcony. Looking forward to seeing this in Utrecht!
  7. Didn't we shake hands back then? I know I saw your models, next to Arjan's. I was sure I met you - if not I'll have to fix that this time!
  8. Brilliant! See you there then. Do you know which day you'll be visiting?
  9. I wouldn't rule that out, but it might be expensive. Try asking - JopieK is a member here on Eurobricks and a nice fellow :)
  10. I missed your name on that list, but hoped you'd be there anyway :)
  11. Try ministickers.nl - they don't have everything, but it's the best reproductions I've seen, and they do quite a lot of older stuff. The colour matching is not perfect, but very, very close.
  12. Yes, it does suck. Remember, though, that there's no kind of tax on top of that - what it says on the price tag is what you pay - so the difference isn't quite as big as it seems.
  13. Very much looking forward to seeing those of you again who I already know, and meeting new people in Utrecht!
  14. Right... about that Mr Gold. I obviously thought it was an interesting idea at the time, including a super-rare figure in Series 10, so I bought a box of 60 - but of course I didn't get it. Then I forgot about it for a long time, but for some reason I remembered it earlier this year. I thought maybe then would be a better time to look for it, so I put up an eBay search... and got a very interesting hit after only a couple of days. It was a US seller, with limited feedback, but the auction seemed legitimate, the images looked real, and it had a Buy It Now price of $100. Now, $100 is a lot of money, but it's not a fortune - so I thought if this is a scam, I might get my money back from PayPal, but if I don't, I won't be bankrupt. And so I bought it and sent the money to the seller via PayPal. Then the seller sent the figure to a friend of mine in the US, and I picked it up at Brickworld in Chicago. Sure enough, the figure is genuine, it's never been assembled, it's still in the transparent plastic bag, and the numbered leaflet was included. This was obviously all very nice for $100 - they sell for almost ten times that. But the big surprise came when PayPal refunded my money - because the seller never claimed it. I don't know why. I sent him an email, asking him what had happened, saying that it's a valuable figure, and I'm not really comfortable with getting it for free - that was never my intention. I still haven't heard back. So it seems I've ended up with a Mr. Gold for free...
  15. I got incredibly lucky this summer and got a Mr Gold... for free. Long story. And very strange. Which means I now have every collectable minifigure. Including Team GB, both Simpsons series, the toy soldier from the Minifigures book - and the BR minifig which, as far as I know, is the only minifigure outside the series to actually come with a stand included. As for which minifigures that 'count' and not... I don't care. I'm happy with my collection, and whatever other people think should be included or excluded... hey, whatever floats your boat!
  16. Well, it's easy to find - exit the tube station, turn left, walk along the walkway up to the main entrance, then when you get inside turn left on the ground floor. Once you reach the end of that row of shops you'll see it. The staff is very friendly, they helped me pick a complete set of Series 2 Simpsons minifigs :)
  17. From the webpage: "We can accept displays from anyone as long as you're over 18 (*over 16, with written legal parent/guardian consent), your display is cool and meets our criteria." I say go for it - send in an application!
  18. Which one? There's two - one at Westfield Shepherd's Bush and one at Westfield Stratford. They're both nice, though - I've visited the Shepherd's Bush one the most (on Friday, for example), as it's a little bit closer to central London, but I'd say they're both worth a visit. Then again, I live in a country with no LEGO stores, so I'd say any LEGO store is worth a visit... :)
  19. If I'm accepted, I'll be there for the first part of the event.
  20. Seems like I might be going, actually. I was there two (three...?) years ago, mainly as a visitor, and had a great time, and will be very excited to possibly come back as an exhibitor - for the first half of the event. Who else is going/have applied? Since you say "one" of the most fun days, I take it you'll only be visiting? I'd love to say hi, and if you'd consider bringing a couple of your sweet hotrods, we could do a meet and greet with some of mine... :)
  21. This is the kind of find every LEGO enthusiast (at least those who grew up during the '80s and '90s) dreams of stumbling across. I'm very, very jealous - even though I own quite a few of the sets, the feeling of holding the childhood memories in pristine boxes... that's something very special. Treat these with the respect they deserve!
  22. ...which is generally frowned upon on this site. So if you do, the Town topic is most likely to be locked. This is indeed the right subforum for it, as it's an Architecture-style model. And what a lovely model it is! Very well built, with some very intricate ornamental work - and huge! Very well done. I'm impressed :)
  23. It was definitely not "tossed off the site" - it was moved to a more general part of the forum that's being read by many more people than just the ones interested in Technic, as it's not a question that's not Technic specific. I, for one, am interested in sticker techniques, but have no particular interest in Technic.
  24. It is too expensive. It was an extremely limited edition set given away to participants on the LEGO Inside Tour in 2013, and unlike some of the other sets (4000007, 4000014) which have also been used in limited runs for other purposes, this only exists in those few (80-ish?) numbers. Which is why people are piecing it together themselves, and why it's so nice that JopieK has made custom reproductions stickers available ;)
  25. Wow! I got here from the front page as I normally don't venture much into this part of the forum. I tend to build with System parts, although I own a couple of Technic models (among them the beautiful 8070), which are refreshingly different builds if you need a change every now and then. I just can't get my head around all that technical stuff though - that's why I just can't build this way myself! But being a car guy I can certainly appreciate this - I really like the way you've sculpted the bodywork. The ground clearance is a bit high for a supercar, but I'm guessing that's to accommodate the independent suspension. And it's no bad thing - it just reminds me a bit of this: A very rare beast, the 1992-2000 MEGA Track, with a 6-litre Mercedes V12. A supercar with (limited) off-road capability :) Anyway: A gorgeous build. Well done!
