What is the oddest piece that you have found in the Build a Minifigure
L@go replied to brickmasterben11's topic in Community
It isn't the same mould as the gorilla suit guy's mask though, it's definitely Chima. There were a few in the London Westfield Shepherd's Bush store when I was there a couple of weeks ago, too... -

Yes, they are. But they're not decorated, unlike all the Chima heads. -

This: Westfield 2 by Are J Heiseldal, on Flickr ...on more than one occasion! I wonder how that happens and where they come from. -
'Masterpiece' classic sets for Lego Ideas
L@go replied to David Thomsen's topic in Special LEGO Themes
I don't know if something like this is what you're suggesting, but my Updating the Classics project has been going on for a few years now. There are some buildings on the last pages: Garage 26 by Are J Heiseldal, on Flickr Snack Bar 21 by Are J Heiseldal, on Flickr Post Office 20 by Are J Heiseldal, on Flickr Doctor's Office 21 by Are J Heiseldal, on Flickr -
Interesting topic! Yes, I've certainly thought about changing my nickname. Most of all because it's not searchable - if you try googling 'L@go', Google will just ignore the @. Highly impractical. The reason I chose it in the first place was that my real first name is Are, and when I started studying way back in the '90s, encountering the Internet for the first time, I started writing my real name @re in signatures etc. So I figured it made sense to replicate that with my nickname, and since the topic I needed the nickname for was LEGO... well, you understand. The problem was I didn't really figure out the problems with my nickname until after it had... well, stuck, in a way. I got featured in a book, with my nickname, and suddenly it felt too late to change it. I still contemplate it every now and then... but the longer I go without making that change, the less likely it seems that I'll actually get around to doing it.

Can you make requests for MOCs on here?

Don't be so hard on yourself! If you don't try, you'll never improve ;) -
"Erector" sounds like the kind of thing one shouldn't google while at work...

My thoughts exactly. My guess is that you had the book, was inspired by that truck and tried to build it with the pieces you had. And the book had a sheet with those stickers on it, so that's most likely where they came from, not from set 6480. That also means it's not a 9V battery box - it's most likely just built from bricks. I did the same :)

I'd be very surprised if they didn't just paint some regular monorail parts. That's quite normal in the LEGO design process, as far as I know.

Eurobricks Event Billund 2016 After party!
L@go replied to Peppermint_M's topic in LEGO Events and User Groups
Holodoc, can you remember how many bricks there were in that big plastic bottle? I'm curious :) -
Yes, I think 'wow' is the only appropriate word. You did all these? They are brilliant. All of them. That microscale train is the star of the show for me, though. So neat!
-
Sure. But if somebody's spelled their name Ceasar, they've spelled it wrong in the first place - at least as long as it's referring to the Roman ceasar :)
-
I think it looks quite nice - and that phone 'drawer' is clever! I'd change "Ceasar" to "Caesar" though - I don't think "Ceasar" is the correct spelling in any language ;)
-
Yes, you can. But as I said, only the side of the box was visible, we couldn't get to it as it was in an off-limits part of the Vault, so nobody could see how the set looked.
-
There's already one in the Vault in Billund... We were there for the EB Event and somebody spotted this on a shelf. Only the side of the box was visible though, so not much to see. But at least it's ready for sale :)

Eurobricks Event Billund 2016 After party!

I'll join the chorus of praise for Holodoc and Bonaparte - it was a lovely event with lost of fun activities (even if some of us Norwegians arrived too late for some of them) (but then again we still managed to dominate most of the competitions - right, Pandora?) and a great bunch of people. Had a nice, smooth ferry trip back home with LegoFjotten and managed to get some sleep shortly after that. Spending some days at my parents' place in the south before heading back to Bergen. It's a relatively safe bet that I'll try my very best to get to Günzburg in a year :) I also agree with Jim that it's now much easier to put faces to names and nicknames, which is always nice. And such a great group photo! If you didn't know better, you'd think we were actually having a good time... -
Very nice. You got points from me :)
-
I'm in Billund! But I'm flying to Norway tomorrow. And then I'll be back late Sunday evening...

I'm just curious: Seeing as pretty much every single spam post I've seen over the past couple of weeks (and there have been a lot) contain the website "WEWE79.COM", isn't there some way to block (or at least delay) any post with that wording in it? Seems to me a filter like that could potentially stop a lot of spam that seeps through at the moment.

Hi! Registration is now open for BrickCon in Seattle, Sep 29th to Oct 2nd. I'm contemplating going as I can combine it with a visit to a friend of mine in San Francisco. Is anybody else going? Any Europeans considering it?

The raccoon is yours :)

I see the cheapest one on BL is about €135. How does €120 sound?

Aaaaand I actually went and dug that box out, and my memory was wrong - I didn't have a 21100 and a 21101, I had two 21100s. Which is good news for me, because it's worth much more, but bad news for you, because that's not what you wanted. I'm sorry about that. I'll fix my trading post accordingly.
